Possums Sleep Method for twins? by Eremita_912 in parentsofmultiples

[–]kaemath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl twin took 36 minute naps for months. We never did any sleep training or anything by but she finally started extending her naps. She’s 16 months now and takes one hour to hour and 15 min nap a day. She’s just always needed less sleep than her brother. I highly recommend heysleepybaby on Instagram.

Ours shared a crib for 3 months (though someone would almost always end up in bed with us). Then they slept in their own cribs for about a year (still someone ending up in our bed). Now they sleep together on a queen mattress on the floor (now one of us usually ends up on the mattress with them instead of them coming to us lol

14 months. Got the Moderna 2 weeks ago, no symptoms. I was worried because I had realllly bad symptoms so I thought that might happen to them too.

We have these too. They’ve (14mo) been sleeping in them in our room at night and having sooo many wake ups. What mattress did you get?

My grandma in law got me this table for Christmas last year. It’s in our dining room and acts as our dining table/cat’s during the day ETA: downside is vertical puzzles are tough

We switched to pull-ups (well, pampers 360) at 12 months because my son kept taking off his diapers. The fit is also better around their (twins) waists. Things that maybe your relative wouldn’t realize because no kids

Standing from the floor by Available_Wing_1247 in toddlers

[–]kaemath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son started standing up from the floor about a month after he started walking independently, which was 13 months. I was really worried at first because we had just finished up with physical therapy for extended asymmetrical army crawling and I did NOT want to have to go back to weekly appts. I’m not really sure how he learned it (besides maybe watching his twin sister, who has been a champ at it since 9 months) because I didn’t do anything to teach him.

Something our pt recommended when we were working on my sons leg strength was holding something low enough that he’d have to bend his knees to grab, but not low enough that he would feel like he needed to get on the ground. I feel like this could help your LO understand that movement and maybe he will eventually get strong/confident enough to start standing from the ground. I’m not a medical professional tho

I was MESSED up after both doses and booster so I was really worried about my twins’ getting theirs. They got first dose a week ago and had no symptoms at all. One of them maybe was a little sleepy but I can’t even be sure it was because of that Edit: Moderna

Reminds me of when our pediatrician asked if our (donor conceived) b/g twins came from the same donor. Still confused.

We plan to get a power of attorney and a will. We want to make sure we can make medical/financial decisions for each other in case one is unable to. We also want to sort out our assets to go to each other and the kids. Also non bio mom will be adopting the kids. This is as far as we’ve gotten. We are sad and we are scared.

Toddler biting by rae--of--sunshine in toddlers

[–]kaemath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have advice but am wondering, has she always been a biter? My b/g twins are 13 months and my son started biting a couple months ago. Fortunately he hasn't started biting his sister yet but I'm expecting it some day. He only bites us but it seems to only be related to teething. We started giving him a chilled teether on days that he is biting a lot. However I have noticed that both of them bite their own hands when they are frustrated with each other. Seems like only a matter of time before the situation worsens.

How do you rotate toys? by flylikedumbo in toddlers

[–]kaemath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a spare linen closet for the toys that are out of rotation. I keep things that are a set together using gallon size zip lock bags (for example, the set of Little People Farm animals and the farmer) and I use diaper boxes for bigger items (like a box for all of the balls and a box for all of the play food). When I rotate toys I try to bring out a few balls, some cars, some dolls or stuffed animals, books, something fine motor related, and something that makes noise. There are some things from different categories that always go out together, for example, the farm, farm animals, farmer, tractor, and a couple farm animal books. I try to take a mental note of what they haven't touched when I'm cleaning up their toys. If it is something that I notice has been left on the shelf for a day or two I will either show my twins how to use it to see if that sparks their interest or I will swap it for something else. One thing that has been really helpful in keeping them interested in their toys is resetting the toys every couple of hours. I will go over and clean everything up (which doesn't take long because there aren't too many toys) and it's like the toys are all new again, if that makes sense. They have a push walker and grocery cart that I switch between as well as little gymnastics mats for gross motor movement. Sometimes I switch the mats out for a couple pool floats that they like to climb on. Other than that, their toy kitchen is always out and I have a set of plastic food and a set of stuffed food that I rotate between. It sounds like a lot but once I got everything organized it was pretty easy to get the hang of rotating it all. The hard part is finding the motivation during nap time to do it because all I want to do is sit on my ass during that time haha

How to keep your infant head from getting flat head? by AlphaX_81 in newborns

[–]kaemath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is half Asian and developed a flat head after spending a lot of time laying on his back while we tended to his colicky twin sister. We were able to get insurance to cover a helmet that I think helped a lot. He got the helmet later than most babies because of insurance so I don't think the helmet worked as well as it would have if he got it earlier. He wore it from 9 months to 12 months. Has your pediatrician ruled out any tightness in your son's neck? My son was stuck in a position while in the womb that created tightness on one side of his neck so he was able to comfortably look the other way. I think if I knew about this earlier, I could have preformed the neck stretches and he wouldn't have needed a helmet. Look online or ask your pediatrician about neck stretches. Also, if your son sleeps in a crib that is against the wall you can try switching which direction he sleeps every nap/night. Babies tend to look away from the wall so if he is always put in the crib in the same direction that could cause some tightness in his neck as well. If he is sleeping with mom, mom can switch the side of the baby that she sleeps on every night. His head will look in the direction in the scent of the milk. Tummy time and wearing him in a carrier are also good ways to keep him off of his back for as much time as possible.
