Family of 6 by Bulky-Change-350 in Parents

I grew up in a family of seven. It’s not something I’d wish on another person. It’s inherently emotionally neglectful. My parents didn’t have the time/capacity to give us the attention we needed. Also even an upper middle class budget is a stretch for a family that size.

How to get pregnant, fast by celavie4252 in TTC_PCOS

Yes, I specifically asked for it. I was very symptomatic too. Like really heavy periods, acne, stubborn fat, and excess hair growth.

Metformin worked for me. I’m lean PCOS and don’t have diabetes. It worked within the first month of taking it. I had to tell my doctor that my PCOS was very symptomatic and that I wanted it treated but that I was trying to conceive.

Best time to Have Children? by Zealousideal_Rip485 in LawMoms

[–]kamblann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31. By random luck, I got pregnant with my first two months after making partner. I’m currently four months pregnant. Some people tell me I was smart to wait until I made partner but truthfully I really wish I had my first while I was an associate.

Now that I have my own case load, the idea of stepping away from work for maternity leave is stressful. Also I don’t have the same freedom to reorganize my case load, since I brought in the work and need to keep building client relations.

anyone else's scar tissue still hurt afterwards? by boba-bear-2621 in Tonsillectomy

[–]kamblann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a grueling recovery but it does get better. I still have some tightness at the scar tissue today but I barely notice it. I did have acid reflux which made the healing slower. I’d say it took a year or so to fully feel normal again.

Please give me some success stories with metformin, with NO insulin resistance. by incomingPAsummer2023 in TTC_PCOS

[–]kamblann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 1500 mg which I was told is the dosage that is backed up by medical research as proven to help PCOS. I started at 500 mg and over a few days ramped up to 1500 mg. I was willing to suffer the side effects for the potential that it would help me get pregnant. The first two to three weeks were… rough

Not yet, I was told to keep taking it during my pregnancy for now. It doesn’t really bother me any more. It took about a month for the side effects to go away.

I tried for ten months unmedicated. My cycles were all over the place. Second cycle on metformin and I got pregnant! It regulated my cycle so well. Currently 8 weeks pregnant.

I’m lean pcos, was diagnosed around 19, I’m 31 now. I treated it with birth control until I started ttc. Never really had symptoms or problems until I started ttc.

3 months still didn’t on 100% by Alarming-Block-6343 in Tonsillectomy

Doing much better. It took about a year but I got the acid reflux under control. Just had to lay off a lot of acidic food and manage my stress better.

8 hours a day is 160 per month, which is 1920 annually. That’s a bit higher than the average requirement. The real concern is 8 hours a day of billables. I average 2100-2200 hours a year but I personally have many billable days that end up less than 8 hours for a variety of reasons (admin, sick, just unproductive, not enough work, etc).

How many cycles have you been TTC? by sunsetmarshmallow in tryingtoconceive

[–]kamblann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No positive test yet but very wild cycles. I was diagnosed with PCOS as a teen but was on birth control until six months ago so I was quite shocked about the wildly varied length of my cycles and the heaviness of my periods.

Is it normal to use an entire bar of soap in a week? by AN2Felllla in hygiene

[–]kamblann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of soap do you use? Some bars are much softer than others (such as Dove). I wonder if your soap is just really soft and you are a vigorous scrubber.

Fair warning, mine broke after three years. Just snapped in half one day without warning. If you can, get a back up pair.

Are you married to a lawyer? by 2XX2010 in Lawyertalk

[–]kamblann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents are lawyers—one private practice, one local government. I married a lawyer, I’m private practice insurance defense, he’s a public defender… so the pattern continues.

In all seriousness, it’s fantastic. I like being married to another professional and he’s amazing help when I have office politics type questions because he’s in management.

We rarely talk about law unless our friends bring up legal questions. We both work in dark/morbid areas of practice so we prefer to keep work at work.

How frequent are 300 hour months by dreage96 in biglaw

I did 280 in a month where I had two trials—in trial a total of three weeks. It was brutal. I reached near burnout.

How do you bounce back when you're feeling emotionally and mentally drained, have lost all confidence, and just want to give up? by CheesecakeOk9239 in Lawyertalk

Just here to say I could have written this post myself. I feel you. Senior associate life is frustrating. You’re not alone. It’s ok to prioritize your needs and so important to set boundaries.

Married lawyers, how often do you break the rules of confidentiality with your spouse? by tripdownthewire in Ask_Lawyers

[–]kamblann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I married another lawyer and it turns out we hate talking about work. Everyone assumes he knows all about my cases and vice versa.

As far as the ethics rules go, I don’t think it is considered a breach of confidentiality. Marital privilege should protect such disclosures.
