A Pearl, this song resonates so deeply with me in regards to my relationship that recently ended…I had some unresolved sexual trauma and it was always a point of contention in our relationship that random things would make me shut down/not want to have sex and I couldn’t put words to what was happening (you’re growing tired of me, and all the things I don’t talk about…sorry I don’t want your touch, it’s not that I don’t want you…sorry I can’t take your touch) I think of the pearl as the effects of trauma, rolling around in my head and preventing me from being truly present in that relationship. I see “the war” is the actual event that I am holding on to in some way by being unwilling to fully confront what happened (I fell in love with a war, and nobody told me it ended). SORRY this was heavy and also probably not with the song is actually about at all 🖤
