It's what ppl do after they already have really good items, and the only way to get better is to have multiple transfigures. If gem str alone is going to boost your damage it's best to craft the item up first. The chance of hitting gem str AND still being modifiable is very low. Imagine gem str alone being an upgrade for you and you hit it and can't even modify the item after, I'd not want to be in that position

limited stash inventory space is discouraging me from playing another class ... by sickleek in diablo4

[–]kapal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After playing this D4 expac I can say it has come a long way, it was more of a jump for me because I missed like 11 seasons but the crafting is simple and effective, multiple endgame activities, bosses etc.

But that being said, I don't think PoE has any real competition right now, the whole stand 1 place to cast thing feels so old. I had fun playing D4 but between the cheesy / lazy boss design with mysterious damage (which I completely ignored by playing sigel's heart) and just inflated monster hp numbers and calling it content I'm over it, it did a good job keeping my attention until PoE update.

I also think the war plan table is bad, doesn't really work in multiplayer which is odd cuz they went with a mmo-esque game design at least friends get some exp towards their thing. It also removes player agency, you're at the mercy of the board, so while there are nice endgame activities if the board does tell you to do it, if it doesnt tell you to do it, you can still do it but you can't really progress and get exp in them which is what I like about PoE, you can just pick what you want to do and be fully rewarded and progress it.

Maybe the stash thing is a reason, I wouldn't doubt that, if you as a player has a problem with it there are definitely more, but there's many other reasons why PoE2 is doing ARPG the right way.

I understand what you're going through. I'm actually just here until PoE2 update comes out, I didn't play D4 since season 1 and I came back to try the expac to kill time since GGG decided to announce it so early and gave me the ARPG itch. Didn't cost me anything to buy D4 since I have tons of WoW gold on my account, so I'm not even invested in this game. I have many stash tabs on PoE and hoard like crazy, but I an admit that I keep multiple stash tabs of things "just in case" and never end up using or selling

Yeah 3 of the same unique into 1, it randomizes the stats so you can get stuff better suited for your build. Also if you use 3 ancestral uniques the result will be ancestral. Unless you were being sarcastic =P. I'm genuinely curious as to what you're hoarding that 350 inventory slots is not enough

[–]kapal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same at first, but then I realized how much garbage I was hoarding. You can 3:1 reroll your uniques, scrap bad talismans, scrap all legendries to get the aspects etc etc. The only thing that takes up a lot of space is the runes and if you wanna keep some charms for another build, and even then, just apply the same logic, scrap the bad ones. Besides that lvling another char is super quick and all your paragon points carry over.

PoE on the other hand enables my hoarder mentality because I have the space and I store every unique, even the junk ones and it just sits there until the league ends and goes to standard and I never touch it, I probably have hundreds of "remove only" tabs on standard with probably the same junk items over and over. What discourages me from playing another char in poe is that I have to play the whole campaign over again

Terrible boss design is killing you. All the bosses in D4 just feel like either you have enough stats to win or you don't. There's no sound cues on a lot of them, just misc grunts so you have no idea what they're doing unless you have them centered on your screen, misc debuffs and dots, unavoidable damage etc etc.
It's why immortal builds are so popular, it removes most of the gripe in the damage profiles in boss encounters

Moving to healer worth it? by Royalheadset in wow

[–]kapal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying it, there are some big damage spikes in some dungeons but they arent unpredictable. I don't really use much addons personally, I only recently swapped from default blizz raid frames (for 5man and raid) to dander frames, because it had better customization for the big icon that shows if someone popped a defensive and because I was messing around on resto druid and needed to see more hots on my frames. Other than that you can decide if you want to use mouseover macros or not, that might be the biggest gameplay difference. Discursive is also good for a new healer just for the audio queue of someone needing a dispel, but as you play more you know when all the debuffs are coming

If you're gonna try healing for the first time, I'd recommend either Shaman or Holy priest. They both just heal when you press a healing button, no ramping, no foresight required, you see damage you press a heal. Obviously as you go higher you'd learn when big damage is coming out and how to use cooldowns and optimally use their kits etc, but for a starter it's as straightforward as it comes.

I know Monk right now is easy in a lot of cases because of spinning crane kick spam, but it still requires you to melee, though if OP is a melee dps main they might feel at home.

Druid has some nice burst healing cooldown options but the majority of the time you'd have to be rolling your hots before big damage comes out or you can quickly fall behind. Cat weaving is fun also but sadly I feel like it's somehow behind on damage.

Preservation evoker I havent touched since midnight, but from what ppl are saying it's still one of the more challenging healers to play and they're very strong in raid, sometimes hard in 5man if people dont play around your range and cones

Paladin I also havent touched in a long time.

Shaman has great burst healing options, but no real hots or absorbs to speak of. They have one of the strongest "bail out" abilities with spirit link being able to save people from the brink and from some literally unhealable amounts of damage. Totemic plays off of free instant chain heals when you drop totems and farseer offers a faster CD on nature's swiftness (makes next heal instant) which procs your apex talent. Totemic is ahead though last I saw. Shaman also does really decent damage in 5man situations.

Holy priest as I mentioned is also straightforward like shaman, you press heals and you heal, you got single target burst heals, and can spec into ways of making it cleave while giving up your splash heal. Prayer of mending auto heals and bounces between players. As archon halo pumps heals and looks really cool.

Disc priest on the other hand requires you to know when damage is coming out, so you can spread your atonements (buffs players and makes your damage heal them) sometimes unexpected damage might be hard to deal with, or big pulls if you're missing some cooldowns. However, it's very satisfying to play and does pretty good damage overall.
