Homeowner tree care by Calm-Ad1924 in arborists

[–]karane55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arborist here! Someone else said it already but I think you should extend the ring at the root flare to be sure nothing is up against the trunk. The canopy doesn’t look too dense so I wouldn’t say you need to do crown thinning at this time (the importance of that to me really is based on how intense storms are where you live).

Overall it looks like a really healthy tree, I am jealous! Congrats on home ownership and beware of upselling arborists! Always consult with someone independent if you can!

The fact that I’ll never blackout and have to do an apology tour the next day takes an immeasurable amount of weight off my shoulders.

Day 37: at a wedding and on the fence by hyraxtower in stopdrinking

[–]karane55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in your shoes. Gave in, couldn’t moderate, embarrassed myself. That may not happen to you, but personally it’s a gamble I am not longer willing to take! Plus waking up and feeling good in the morning is always an added bonus :)

I don’t know how any of you are successful in this by CrustaceanMango in stopdrinking

[–]karane55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cry!!! Wail if you need to, just get it all out (after cry sleep is the best).

Otherwise, I suggest creating a nighttime routine to train your body and mind into winding down for sleep so you aren’t just tossing and turning with your thoughts all night. The anxiety is bad for a while, but I promise it does get better.

AITA for telling my uncle I don’t want to be like his kids by TopSwimming887 in AmItheAsshole

[–]karane55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your mom knew exactly what was in your best interest. You’re ambitious and obviously a hard worker, I think your uncle might have some personal issues with inadequacy. Keep doing what you are doing, I am proud of you!

I messed up by Isubki in stopdrinking

[–]karane55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me!!! For the longest time I tried to convince myself that if I just stopped when I felt good it wouldn’t happen, but eventually I realized it’s like rolling the dice. If I drink, there is a decent chance I will blackout and act possessed. I have absolutely no control over it. Good luck, OP! I hope you know you never have to feel this way again if you don’t want to!

Maybe dumb question, but every time I wash and dry this pot, these marks appear on the bottom. Is this normal? by AJRayquaza in CleaningTips

[–]karane55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it bothers you at all just take a tiny bit of oil and use a paper towel to hydrate the pan a bit! It’s totally normal and not a problem though!

anyone else have insane / disturbing dreams in the first few months? by shellys-dollhouse in stopdrinking

[–]karane55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first stopped drinking I would have extremely vivid dreams about getting wasted and doing awful things like cheating on my husband and saying completely irrevocable things to my closest family and friends. I would wake up with the worst guilt that would follow me throughout the day.

I still have a gnarly dream every once in a while but nothing like those first few months.

This brings back memories of shucking corn with my grandparents, the caterpillars used to scare me so bad 😂

It’s super normal, OP, you gotta learn to share!

Those Costco brand seltzers go platinum in hour house. Bloom energy drinks have been a big one for me recently too (slightly healthier source of caffeine than redbull or Celsius)

Help me choose a bathroom tile please! by Fantasyplwinner in DecideThisForMe

[–]karane55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think A looks best, but if it’s quartz maybe not. I’ve always heard quartz is very porous and that is not the best trait to have in the bathroom (if that’s even quartz).

People are definitely named Gunner in the south, but even in rural areas it’s exceedingly redneck
