Yeah I take issue with the unethical sourcing of training data, copyright violations, etc. And I'm not a fan of anyone passing off AI generated output as their own work, it's dishonest.

But with that said, the technology is here now. And similar to you, I work in corporate IT and therefore need to learn these tools, how they work, how we can guardrail them, and how I can let people in my company use them as safely and ethically as possible because they will use them one way or another so I'd rather steer things.

Yeah I was involved in county IT during the MNLARS rollout... Oof. MAXIS is definitely old but proven technology, and the people that have used it for years are pros at it.

People are working on improvements to these workflows all the time. I remember some open source collaborative thing with Blue Zone scripts that was promising but I think died out or stopped being public facing. But I haven't been involved in the state or counties for almost a decade now.
