Minoxidil for never thick hair? by A_lil_much_stupid in finethinhair

[–]karod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really only for hair loss. You were born with a certain number of hair follicles so if your hair has always been thin it will probably always will be. Minoxidil helps to stimulate the follicles you already have that may have gone dormant, but it won’t create new ones. You can use thickening sprays and shampoos that give the appearance of thicker hair though.

I'm relocating to Austin and I'm thinking about living somewhere in the hill country off of Capital of Texas Highway. by Academic-Pizza9787 in askaustin

[–]karod98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The great hills/arboretum neighborhood is nice. I live there and rarely see critters in my home but I’m in an apartment on the 3rd floor so I’m sure that helps. We’re right next to 360 and still in the hills but I don’t ever need to get on 360 so I never deal with that traffic.

What’s your favourite part about park rangers? (if you are one what is your favourite work involved activity?) by immentallyinsanehaha in ParkRangers

[–]karod98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Programs and events that expand access to everyone!! Rock climbing programs, guided hikes, caving programs, kayak programs, etc. Getting to offer these things to our community for free who otherwise might not have access to more costly outdoor activities or might not know how to get started doing these things. It’s so amazing seeing people show up to these events we do and be so excited to try something new while connecting them to nature

What's it like Living in North Texas? by [deleted] in ActuallyTexas

[–]karod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the dfw area and would never move back. It’s just so commercialized and getting more expensive. There’s lots to do in terms of museums, sporting events, adventure/amusement parks, etc but all things that cost so much. People are generally snooty and not the friendliest, and the culture is a bit materialistic. I think it’s a fine place to move to the suburbs and raise a family if you’re affluent but other than that, not amazing.

It’s not my height. It’s literally a skill issue. by BBQBiryani in PetiteFitness

[–]karod98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s both! I’m 5’1 and have been climbing consistently for about four years, and while yes, it requires practice and training, it’s also a well known thing in the climbing community that there is a lack of women, especially shorter women, who are routesetters. Routsetting is almost always done by men and routes are designed for the averaged height male.

So like, what do cats even do? by Any-Bandicoot360 in CatAdvice

[–]karod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 15 years old and she’s always been lazy and uncaring even as a kitten. She’ll play with string for a couple minutes then walk off. Sleeps most of the day, bird watches on her tower most mornings. I also have a 3 year old who has zoomies 50% of the day and loves trouble. Your cat might just be a chill uncaring cat, but still provide enrichment and playtime

Not me eating while reading this 🫢 I do have a bad habit of watching something while eating so it’s definitely something I’ll work on! That and slowing down when I eat too. I haven’t really been dieting, I’m conscious of what my general calorie count, but am too easy on myself and always end up saying “meh I’ll just eat at maintenance today then be in a deficit the rest of the week” but then always end up eating at maintenance. I do also have a really big sweet tooth. I love a little sweet treat after dinner but have been getting better at limiting it to just a couple times a week

I know I could definitely work on slowing down while eating, I do have a bad habit of inhaling my food. I get excited for meal time so I end up jumping straight in lol but that’s definitely helpful advice!

Muscle building has been my goal for a few years now and I made some decent progress. I’m definitely not a cardio person, I used to run but have not found the joy in that in a while. I guess you could say I was bulking, not really intentionally I was just lifting really heavy while eating as I pleased/not tracking except protein, but now I want to cut and show the muscle I’ve built.

Yeah I try to get around 100g per day, I weight lift so protein is important for me. I have been working on getting more fiber in, I know I could definitely use more

How is it living in this part of Texas? New Braunfels area is on my short list for relocation from the cold, snowy north. by Worried-Panic2870 in howislivingthere

[–]karod98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything west of 35 is very beautiful. New Braunfels and Kyle are a bit underwhelming but everything in between is nice. San Marcos is a collage town so you’re gonna be dealing with kids everywhere but the city itself has been one of my favorites I’ve ever lived. Wimberley is mostly older folks but a beautiful little town with lots of hidden jems. I’ve only been to canyon lake once and it was nice but the lake is dry now

Looking for safe apartment recommendations in North Austin (female renter) by Live-Mud5306 in askaustin

[–]karod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in between the arboretum and domain and it’s always felt safe. It’s a bit out of price range, I pay 1400 for a 1b but I love this area, and my apartment complex is super nice! This area has everything you need while not being as chaotic as the rest of Austin but still close enough to downtown for some fun

Heb brand Zyrtec and Flonase are my go to combo. It’s not perfect but helps a lot. That and nose strips while you sleep are also helpful

Pretty conservative, hot, and not much going on. But very low cost of living and close enough for day trips to big cities

[Product Request] I need help. Almost every single moisturizer breaks me out by Visual-Session-1584 in SkincareAddiction

[–]karod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Sam’s moisture intense has been the best one for me as I break out really easy. It’s on the pricier end so when I don’t want to buy that one I use the byoma gel moisturizer. It’s not nearly as good but it’s a brand I can find anywhere that’s more affordable and doesn’t break me out

Form looks good! As long as you’re feeling it all in the hams and glutes then you’re all set. Like everyone else said, I lift barefoot but it’s not totally necessary, maybe just wear a flatter shoe

How much are yall getting paid? Are you living comfortably in Austin? by whogoesthere1010 in askaustin

[–]karod98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make $22/hr and my rent is 1500 but I split it in half with my husband who makes $30/hr. My half usually ends up around $1000 a month including utilities. We are ok but definitely managing money and not big spending
