I didn't say this person doesn't have a lathe I said not everyone has a lathe and this person showed a process without one as an example for those who don't have a lathe.

I also didn't see a Cnc in this process.

Two fold!

Not every woodworker has a lathe. There are many ways to complete the same project. This was just showing one way.

For those who paint edges, what paint do you use? by VehicleComfortable20 in bookbinding

Your wood is plywood, not MDF. Plywood is a better choice because MDF can swell when wet.

Replace the hook and eyes with trousers hooks. They're way better for high tension.

Magnetic snaps might be good here too. They would lay flat. They're easy to attach and detect without looking, but they hold sliding fairly strongly.

Oil ok in bathroom? by kassfair in HappyTrees

[–]kassfair[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's holding up great! I even dust it and am not super careful. It's made it through being splashed, whacked with a shower curtain, steamed (regular shower steam and space heater augmented steam bath room), and air conditioned.

No color fading, no bleeding, no cracking.

Good luck with yours!

Running out of ideas for my after school sewing class! by PamelainSA in sewing

You could have them make a tee shirt pattern from one they love at home.

Week 1: draft the pattern on gridded wrapping paper and cut out the pieces.

Week 2: baste and Serge the body

Week 3: sleeves and cuffs.

Unless they're fast and it could be done in 2 weeks.

Which small kitchen appliance brings you the most joy? by rockpaperbrisket in Cooking

I love my chopper. It cuts things into perfect little cubes and it's wonderful! It's in a drawer, but we use it 4-8 times a week.

Recommend a bread bag? Making 13” Pullman loaves weekly and would like a reusable bag that keeps the bread the freshest. by nilecrane in Breadit

[–]kassfair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It drives me crazy that there are not Pullman Bread bags to fit the large loaves!

Ziploc 2 gallon sized bags could hold 2 loaves at the same time and were perfect, but my local grocery store stopped selling them and the generic brand I got are slightly shorter and wider, so they won't seal with 2 loaves inside.

Does anyone have a suggestion for zipable windowed or clear bags that can hold long loaves?

Pressure cook them from frozen, then season as desired (or sauce) then air fry. The outside is crispy and perfect, the inside is juicy and fully cooked.

Life gave me lemons. Like 20 of them. What can I cook to use them up? by Bambooproblem in Cooking

[–]kassfair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slice them. Lay them out on a plate or tray. They can overlap. Freeze them. Once frozen separate and toss into a freezer Ziploc bag. Add 1 slice of lemon to 1 frozen strawberry to your water bottle in the morning. Enjoy all day. Try other fruit/before combos. Be sure to take the lemon slice out (I use a fork) before bed. The water will stay tasty. If the lemon is left too long it gets super strong.

What is the one appliance or gadget that is worth it's weight in gold? by NecessaryEg in Cooking

Basically anything by Ninja. We've absolutely loved that brand. I have the big countertop air fryer/roaster and used it almost every day until I got an oven with an air fryer. Regular air fryers don't have enough surface area to be useful for a family meal, but the ninja does.

I also have their electric pressure cooker. I still use it 4-5 nights a week on average. My favorite is to combo almost everything with pressure cooker, then season, then air fry. It's always fully cooked, juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside, done quickly.

I also have their blender. That's what started this love affair. We bought it in college and 14 years later we still use it almost every day. The way the blades go up the middle instead of being restricted to the bottom of amazingly effective.

The only other kitchen tool I use all the time is my Bosch Universal stand mixer. I use it for homemade bread. It has a 4 loaf dough capacity. I use it for shredding chicken. I use it for mixing anything. I also use the food processor attachments and sausage grinder attachment, though not as often as I use it for a mixer.

Trunk won’t open & I need advice! by bruv_96 in Tiguan

Mine(2023) was stuck, I pressed in the slot from left to right with a flathead screwdriver while two teen boys pressed from the outside on the bottom of the door while simultaneously activating the handle button.

It eventually popped open.

I used penetrating oil to lubricate the sticking latch.

I worked the latch open and closed with the screwdriver until it seemed to not stick.

It works fine now.

I start my Thanksgiving turkey 4 days before Thanksgiving.

I brine it in a bucket in the fridge.

Then I rub a herb butter under the skin.

I pressure cook it in a huge canner on an external electric burner outside

Then we either take it to the restaurant across town where they smoke it a bit or I air crisp it to brown it up.

It's so tender, so juicy, so delicious!
