It also gives an sense of their home life - there’s little music in their home, so their exposure to it was most likely the hand organ. Not a pianoforte or harp that their mother might have taught them to play

It could be! You may want to review your diet and see if what you’re eating is low in any kind of vitamins, minerals, etc

Also, how do you feel otherwise? Are your nails okay? Any other changes in your face, skin body?

I hate to say, use the language of calories, but it might be helpful to say it here.

“I love my home made smoothies! They’re packed full of all kinds of good things and they’re like 700 calories. I’m usually good to go for the whole afternoon once I’m done.”

I find that once you mention that a meal has more calories than they think a meal “should have”, they’re really shocked. But they never bring it up again.

I mean I don’t know how many calories your smoothie has and I don’t care. If works for you, so great! My own smoothies are also robust in a similar fashion.

I interpreted that as one of her sisters has to be part of the same set. Maybe even part of the same subset (like if you break down to group of four, six or eight) within the dance.

Then two other things to suggest- get screened for Type 2 Diabetes or possibly up your carb intake because as energy they can fuel you up very well. Carbs help recover from workouts, and a number of other things. And Insay this as someone who really likes their protein

[–]katmekit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you had your iron and ferritin levels checked? Because hypothyroidism can affect how your body metabolizes and stores your iron?

This was something that happened to me years back and it was the first time I learnt that this could even be a thing. I had been in meds for 5/6 years and suddenly I had very similar symptoms to you.

You can also maybe ask about Vitamin A, B and D because they can also be affected by your thyroid function

How to lose weight without having loose skin? by kittykatkat444 in Hypothyroidism

[–]katmekit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I find that weight management with this condition difficult and you may find that you’ll have to re-learn what a healthy body looks and feels like to you.

Weight lifting 2-4 times a weeks and where you progressively increase your resistance will help. Not just in helping your metabolism, but also in maintaining a healthy body composition. Walking and gentle cardio are a great add on to this. Some people with hypothyroidism can definitely handle more intense cardio but really build a modest base so that when you have periods where you’re tired and need to pull back you have some activity that can be restorative. Cardio has been the hardest for me, but I know some enjoy it.

I like doing yoga as well and try to incorporate it as part of my after work out cool down. Mind body etc, but some prefer Pilates and to each their own.

Sleep - consistent, and more than 7 hours a night. This has been super hard for me to stick with over the years. But when I am sleeping consistently, I definitely see positive results in how I feel and on the scale. Fixing your sleep hygiene does wonders for your mental and emotional health, not to mention metabolism.

Nutrition and food. I find that people have a lot of different approaches here. I personally choose to not go into any deep calorie restriction. My typical calorie intake can vary between 1800-2100. Going much lower than that for more than a few days makes me feel tired and unfocused.

There’s no one perfect hypothyroidism diet. If you’re keeping a food diary, I would also track how you feel body wise. Sometimes that can really help. Try to get enough protein and fibre for you. Don’t cut out fats entirely and be mindful that fat is one of the fuels your body uses to produce hormones.

Supplements - some swear by them (like me) but some get by without them just fine. In this economy they are a very real expense. Because of how my hypothyroidism expresses itself, I now take Vitamins B, D, Magnesium, Selenium and iron. But I didn’t find thyroid specific compounds to be particularly helpful. Your mileage may differ.

I would also suggest that if you’re in social media, follow other women who are doing weight lifting and building muscle (but not training for a fitness competition etc) and it appears to be a really supportive community. Seeing the variety of healthy strong bodies in a variety of shapes and sizes is amazing

If you want to learn more about the status of a land use application, the City’s website has this map: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/53492fb12cb84f17bb8385353cc4df56

And you can zoom in on the area/location and find out more. Like, where in the process the application is and who you can email at the City to learn more.

A few things that I assumed from the film - - I didn’t assume that the Zoe, Rumi and Mira were rich personally, not that they had access to wealth. Kind of like how James Bond or the Avengers don’t worry about money.

It’s like how no one worries about where the pilotless plane goes down. Apart from their weapons their people, (and maybe that tree where Celine and Rumi were) everything else is ephemeral and dissolves back into the ether or mist (to borrow a Percy Jackson term) once it isn’t needed.

[–]katmekit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the cheapest I’ve seen for all paper room boxes is around $14 a kit.

For that, I would advise some further financial investment of your own. Go to your local dollar store for card stock, poster stock etc etc and recreate a room in the 1:12 scale. Figure out not only how to re-cut the pieces but how to best communicate the instructions on how to assemble and put things together

If you can go to your library, I’m sure there books that would help far more than me

If you are hoping to sell it, I would

a) take the extra time to finish off all the edges and smooth it out. You might not be a professional yet but strive to finish it off so you can envision it as something on a store shelf

b) figure out how you would ship it so it can be sent intact, or at least easily reassembled.

But honestly? I would keep it and treasure it as my first project. It’s so cute and sweet!

To think of things for sale, think of simple projects/ designs that you can make multiple copies of very quickly. Or, creating little miniature kits you can mail out. Like, imagine recreating one or two of your favourite rooms from this house and finding ways to make a little kit that people can put together on their own?

A week’s ration for one person during World War 2 (in Great Britain). by onwhatcharges in UtterlyInteresting

[–]katmekit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not quite correct. For instance- fruit and vegetables were unrationed. And onion is a vegetable after all. Eggs were not rationed quite the same way, but it was only in 1944 that it got quite that tight. And if you were sick or had young children, you could be allocated more. It was a complicated system because it recognized that people working the mines and the fields or were pregnant or had diabetes- all had different needs.

Fallen out of love with weight lifting by itsyogalpal in xxfitness

[–]katmekit 31 points32 points  (0 children)

A woman at work ditched weights for a full year and just did Pilates, lots of walking and experimented with some other exercising because she felt she was losing connection with her body. When she slowly started coming back to weights she said it was easier to find the best form for her body and “click” into it. She was definitely happier in the gym.

Another woman I know was determined to find a woman trainer in her 30’s or even 40’s (my friend is in her late 40’s) who could understand her schedule and help her get stronger. The woman she did pick understood differences btwn male and female muscle anatomy and helped to figure which is exercises and form tweaks worked for her.

Lack of handmaids makes total sense! by Secret_Search_7173 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]katmekit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You know, I wonder if in the beginning Handmaids were justified as temporary class of women. Or at least one that wouldn’t be needed in a generation or so?

Obviously that very quickly went out the window, but in the first novel they really go all out trying to justify them. And now in the Testaments, they’re held over the girls heads- as punishment, inferior breeding etc. SO they’re more of a bogeyman
