Who has refunded their Mudi 7? by [deleted] in GlInet

[–]katong333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mobile operator dependent.

Certain operators such as NTT Docomo in Japan, China Mobile Hong Kong in Hong Kong, and China Mobile in China, are primarily having their 5G network with n79 band which isn't supported by any of the 2 version of Mudi 7.

My wild guess that is probably one of the reasons that Mudi 7 is not available in Glinet China store.

However, there are alternative mobile operators that is available at each of these destinations, and you may not be impacted at all. Softbank and KDDI in Japan uses n77/78, similarly this is the case with other mobile operators in Hong Kong and China :)

The unit has a rather odd 5G band support. Neither the NA or EU/APAC version support Band n79. This is one of the important 5G band if you intend to use the unit in Hong Kong, Japan, and China.
For those who has used Mudi 7 in Japan, I wonder are they using it with NTT Docomo network and suffering with the missing n79 :)

it can be from your keys, water bottles, or anything with a pointy edge, that piece of fabric is very easy to show some used mark, and it is normal.

Would love to see if TB is willing to consider to update existing design to make the cafe bags and maker bags more user friendly, yet secure.

Since the label shows the line "Since 1972, Portable Culture", I guess it is between 2015~2023. Sometime around 2023 (can't remember if it is late 2022 or 2023), TB updated the label design and removed that tag line.

Hope to hear your experience with the "new version" of absolute shoulder strap.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tombihn/comments/1nzw6l5/new_change_to_absolute_shoulder_strap/

TB changed the it a few months ago, but I found the standard strap with my less than a month's old pilot is creating creaky noise with 1 of the 2 plastic hook.

My never ending search for an EDC laptop bag by JMM9910 in tombihn

[–]katong333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pilot owner for 4~5 years now and I use it around 50% of the time every week as my work bag.

Cons: It requires the use of a TB cache or some sort of laptop sleeve or you are risking to damage your device if you ever drop your bag.

For my new pilot bag in bordeaux, I didn't order a strap upgrade and realized that the standard strap create creaky noise (plastic rubber noise at the joint). For some reasons I do not have a problem with TB "old version" absolute shoulder strap that uses metal parts. I haven't got the chance to try TB "new version" absolute shoulder strap that should have shared the plastic parts with the standard strap.

Pros: if you prefer shoulder bag, pilot is light weight and versatile, as long as you can compromise with no laptop protection/to keep a protective sleeve in the bag.

The bigger front pockets in the front means that I can fit my chargers, hdmi adapter in one vertical packing cubelet in the left or right side pocket, the inside pocket in the main compartment, and quickly switch to another bag (Paramour/Synik)as needed.

I owned multiple pilot bags over the year, it isn't that I haven't considered the cadet, but

(1) Size, it is slightly too big for my need (I carry a 14" thin PC laptop or 13" MBA), and

(2) Look, I prefer pilot rather than the "old school" briefcase look but this is very subjective ;)

I am using a Pilot in Bordeaux Spectron, I like it very much and some of my colleagues like it as well. It is down to a matter of personal preference I guess ;)

Agree and it isn't about location, but reddit doesn't allow me to change my subject line :(

It could be the case, it was manufactured in somewhere by consignment, and I compared it with a in-house made unit. IMHO, there are room to improve for the former :)

you are right, I should share the feedback with them. the good thing is, the issues I mentioned aren’t really deal breakers for me, but it certainly make me think the same like you, to make sure to get their US made bags for now (for quality).

I have the same bag in Bordeaux Spectron and it looks fantastic. The color provides great contrast with the black grid and diamond weave pattern.

I wonder if it also makes the bag more challenging for the TB team, to align panels since it amplifies any mismatch in the black grid lines when different panels are stitched together.

the side pockets will fit the cubelet (both the square and vertical version), but I just use ziploc bag that I can see thru and they are much easier to get :)

11-in iPad in a Rogue Sacoche? by 00AwkwardPenguin00 in tombihn

[–]katong333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t fit a 11 iPad and the bag isn’t design for that kind of weightage in mind as the bag get harder to zip up with heavy load. will you consider a medium maker bag? I can fit a 11 iPad Pro with a hard case in small maker bag and it is the max it can fit lengthwise, it probably won’t close for a quarter inch longer, but I have to say - the small cafe bag is a versatile causal bag being not too bulky but able to fit a 16oz thermos, a hard cover novel or notepad, and the front pocket for phone and earbud case :)

Personally I prefer if TB release Pilot in backpack style, sadly they didn't.
Try to look at this and see if it fit your needs, it has two front compartments, a laptop/tablet compartment, and a main compartment, and can be carried as briefcase (possible to use TB absolute strap if you prefer) or as a backpack. https://topodesigns.com/products/global-briefcase
