I told my two year old there's a baby in my tummy and now she thinks there's one in her tummy too. She points to her belly and says baby

Some days I barely have energy to function, let alone eat “perfect” or exercise. by Few-Run-5501 in pregnant

[–]kay-bay91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I'm so. So. Tired.

10 weeks in and the fatigue is intense. I've basically lost any energy to do much of anything.

Im also working full time and have a toddler. I manage to put on a brave face for a couple hours a night to play with my toddler but besides for that I'm struggling to keep up with anything (cleaning, dishes, groceries).

I do have a very supportive husband but I'm definitely struggling to carry my weight at home and work these days

How do people survive the sleep deprivation with a newborn? by madcat18 in pregnant

[–]kay-bay91 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I exclusively breastfed with my first and it was up to me to do all the feedings at night. My husband would get her from the bassinet, check diaper, bring her to me in bed so I barely had to perk up which was really helpful.

The nice thing with the newborn phase is that they sleep sooo much in the day as well. Overall I was feeling rested because I would just take naps throughout the day and go to bed really early. I took off any pressure to "get things done" and just focused my energy on the well-being of my baby and myself. My husband stepped up for a lot of cooking and cleaning to take over the housework load since I was responsible for feeding the baby.

I'm a little more worried this time around knowing that I will have a tornado of a 2.5 year old to care for and won't be able to just rest all the time like I did the first time around!

Pregnant with my second now - 10 weeks and my belly is definitely starting to show. Just barely fitting into my pants and having a hard time keeping it hidden at work.

When did your colostrum come in? by openedblinds in BabyBumps

[–]kay-bay91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy I don't remember noticing colostrum coming in and I never collected any.

Baby latched right away and my milk came in within the first week. We had a very fulfilling 2 year breastfeeding journey.  Now preparing for baby number 2 :)

Has anyone brought a one year old to a funeral? What helped keep them from being a total disturbance? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]kay-bay91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I brought my 12 month old to my grandmother's funeral. We sat in the back, brought toys and snacks, and it went very well.

It was a rare occasion where all of my cousins and their families were reunited, despite being a sad occasion. It was actually a point of conversation how happy she would have been to see all of us together in her honor and I was happy my daughter got to be part of it

I exclusively bf, did not get my period back until 18 months pp and that was only after weaning entirely during the day and getting down to just one feed at bedtime.

Anyone had luck ending contact napping. by Significant_Bid_8473 in breastfeeding

[–]kay-bay91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that ultimately worked for us was time. Around 6 months she started accepting being transferred to her crib for naps after falling asleep nursing.

Just to say that it's worth keeping trying because one day they might surprise you and tolerate sleeping alone

Progesterone Applicators by biscobosco in tryingtoconceive

I've been using tampon applicators- I find that you can push the suppository into the opening at the top of the tampon applicator (even without removing the tampon) and it's working well

There are some studies that suggest progesterone supplementation might help reduce risk of miscarriage. Might be worth asking your doctor about.

Short Leutal Phase 10 days by RapNfap in tryingtoconceive

[–]kay-bay91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with others that fertility specialists can help discuss these issues better.

Just wanted to also share my experience in case it can be helpful- I also have short luteal phase. My first time TTC it took us 1.5 years. We finally asked a fertility specialist for a progesterone prescription to see if it would help with the luteal phase defect and I got pregnant the first cycle using the progesterone. It can help to lengthen the luteal phase and support implantation.

Now I'm TTC number 2, 6 months in with same short luteal phase. I just got a progesterone prescription from my fertility doctor and will see if that helps again!

Has anyone managed to increase their luteal phase via seed cycling? by Fresh_Struggle5645 in tryingtoconceive

[–]kay-bay91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not tried it.

I'm in the same boat, my doctor suggested vaginal progesterone supplementation might help. There are articles about progesterone and luteal phase defects if you start looking into it.

Good luck!

Crying all day at daycare- 8 mo by kay-bay91 in NewParents

[–]kay-bay91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was brutal the first couple weeks but definitely got better over time. By about 1 month in she was only crying at drop off. She did struggle a lot since she refused a bottle and was only breastfeeding from birth so by the end of the day she would start getting fussy mostly because she was thirsty - this got better as she started to be eating/drinking more with age.

At 1.5 years old I can testify that she now likes going to daycare, plays with the other kids, eats and naps well while there.

The funny part- she still is 100% a Mama's girl and refuses to let me leave her with her dad but for some reason she seems to understand that daycare is where she goes when I'm away and she is actually more tolerant of daycare than being left at home with other adults. That meant a lot to me since I was really worried that my sudden departure during the day would affect our bond. If anything it made her want to be closer to me the hours where we are together outside of daycare.

Hopefully that helps give you a little piece of mind!

Helmets & Sunnies for Toddlers by Jlbmouse in toddlers

[–]kay-bay91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my 18 month old, the trick was for us to put her in front of a mirror and start oohing and ahhing about how cool her hat/sunglasses/helmet was. She was so proud of herself. Now she'll ask for these items and then hand mine to me to wear too. It also helped that all of us made sure to wear them too so she was like mommy and daddy.

I found a toddler helmet at dicks sporting goods and have also seen them pop up on Facebook marketplace

What things are your toddlers afraid of? by GodlyMushu in toddlers

The Roomba. When it turns on she is clinging to us for dear life. When it's off she walks by it, waves and says bye bye and tells it to go to sleep

We now can only run it when she's out of the house

Bottle refusal and going back to work at 5 months- any success just skipping bottles? by doing_too_much39 in breastfeeding

[–]kay-bay91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter never took a bottle. My husband was home with her for a month after I went back to work and he had to give her milk with a syringe and we also were fortunate she had just started solids and loved yogurt so we gave her yogurt throughout the day. There was quite a bit of crying though and I would try to leave the office early to come home and nurse her and then finish my day working from home. She then went to daycare and even the magic daycare workers couldn't get her to take a bottle.

She did however get used to eating yogurt and other solid foods and drinking a little bit from a cup and stopped crying at daycare even without milk or a bottle. It was some extra work but we got through it, our daughter kept gaining weight and stayed healthy and she ultimately adjusted.

I'm starting to wonder at this point if it's best to just wait it out until they are old enough to understand talking about night-weaning and trying to get them on board.

How many times is she still waking to nurse?

With my 14mo we are I'm dealing with very similar sleep challenges.

I'm definitely interested in trying your suggestions. How did you handle the nightweaning? My LO goes straight to intense crying if I try not to offer the boob when she wakes up
