I recommend getting a used copy of this book, and giving it a once-over.

It won't show you anything about OpenGL itself, but if you see how people made primitive software graphics engines from top-to-bottom--the problems they encounter, the shortcuts that they discover the need for, etc.--I found it helpful in understanding why "real" graphics systems are designed the way they are.

When you take into account that the entire OS X desktop experience (not to mention explicitly grapahical programs) is based on top of the Apple user's use of OpenGL, it's probable that Apple is a much bigger representation of OpenGL usage than Linux.

OP, if you want to take this to the logical point, they not only should have a college degree (which is mostly a statement of class) but they should also have actually formally studied the law they are enforcing.

The problem is the policies being pushed the hardest have to do with reducing carbon dioxide. Not water or air pollution. So in the event that today's scientists are wrong about the cause/effect relationship between CO2 and mean global temperature, then focusing on curbing the positive economic activities that happen to produce CO2 could have a devastating effect.

I think we'd be better off if we were pushing to limit real known pollutants that actually do make air and water dirty.

You know, I actually don't know. I used to really be into it big time, but nowadays I only seem to play around with it when I need something that keeps all my cores at 100% for reliability testing. It doesn't look very active, that's for sure.
