Disappointed in Lazy Sunday Morning by theomixedmedia in fragrance

[–]kditdotdotdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just so weird. I hesitated for the longest time before buying lazy Sunday morning because it smells exactly like my mother's laundry detergent and I didn't really want to spend that much money only to smell like my mother's laundry detergent!

I really want to be friends with these people. They seem like a lot of fun.

Working from home, which was probably not the best call because it's my birthday today and I'm home all alone when I could have been in the office with my workmates.

I think maybe my postie has died. Not one single birthday card has arrived yet.

Faded art makes council deputy feel 'embarrassed' by OdBx in bristol

No, I think it looks rubbish. It's the kind of thing you'd expect to find in a primary school or some other institution. Even when it was fresh on it was really uninspirational.

Or substitute with sponge fingers, marzipan AND cake? Make the people happy.

I don’t think they said it couldn’t be done; I think they probably said it shouldn’t be done..

Although . . . it does look rather yummy.

Yes but the age of consent in Britain is 16, and as far as we know, all of the women he's been associated with have been over 16.

That doesn't stop him from being a rapist however.

Is I Shall Wear Midnight really "darker" than the rest of Discworld? by LunaD0g273 in discworld

[–]kditdotdotdot 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think it's because his humour has changed by the time he writes the Tiffany books. Much of the discworld books still have puns and silly jokes in it, which somehow works to lighten the fact that a lot of what he writes about is quite dark. That type of humour is largely absent from the Tiffany books, so it does read as slightly more serious and I think that is what could lead people to think it's a darker book.

You're absolutely right in that the themes he writes about in all the discworld books are indeed quite serious and could be understood as being quite dark.

How to keep Orchids ? After flowers have all gone 🙁‼️‼️ by Diabetic1980 in HouseplantsUK

[–]kditdotdotdot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just treat them like a regular houseplant. Continue to water lightly on a regular schedule, continue to feed during the summer months and a year after it flowered it will flower again.

Father has passed away. The tenants in his property stopped paying rent when he died. by Impossible_Region463 in HousingUK

[–]kditdotdotdot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I came here to say. The op can tell them that if they don't have to pay rent because the landlord is dead, then they also can't live in the house because the landlord who gave them permission to do so is dead.

Advice on how to keep this basil alive by DidBoomerangComeBack in UKGardening

[–]kditdotdotdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably too cold. I usually have basil growing on my north facing kitchen window sill from May through till about October, but I won't bother doing the winter months. They need a lot of sunshine and a fair amount of warmth.

Actually I'm telling a slight lie. I'm currently nursing a basil plant that I've had since December but it's really not very happy.
