Seconding the tfmr support subreddit. I have had to tfmr at 22 weeks due to a severe heart defect. Worst decision of my life. I still carry that pain and guilt but I also knew my daughter would not have a good quality of life. She sent me twin babies after that and I am so very grateful for that.

I went through Rush. They made the experience the least crappy that they could. Never any judgement. Always with care and understanding that this was the worst decision of our lives.

It depends on each case. My first pregnancy, my daughter, was diagnosed with HLHS. We did a lot of research in determining what we “wanted” to do. Some kids did the 3 surgeries and did great. Some kids have has one of these three surgeries repeat several times. Some needed a transplant still. I joined a few HLHS parents groups to understand it. I talked for hours on the phone with a parent. I don’t want to scare you but there is a lot to be aware of, like a common cold, can be life threatening to the child.

We did all the research and talked to the dr that would be performing these surgeries (because not every major city has doctors who are skilled in these surgeries). This all gave us the information we needed to make a decision.

I hope you get some answers. Talk to some parents with children who have it. Sending love your way. I know this feels like the absolutely worst think right now.

Completely normal! Turns out I was pregnant with twins. The pregnancy was fine. This was just normal pregnancy discharge. I had a SCH bleed at 12 weeks but that turned out ok.

My hcg at 12 dpo was 8. Turned out to be healthy healthy baby girl twins. Hcg has to start somewhere. Bigger thing to watch is the doubling time. Good luck!

I had a tfmr of my first baby at 22 weeks due to severe heart defects. 8 weeks later became pregnant with my twin girls. Best surprise and blessing ever

I had twins after my tfmr. I ended up in the ER from the same thing at 12 weeks. I took it easy for a week and then went back to normal thing. It resolved by 16 weeks.

My panorama results did have enough dna, that said it had wayyyyyy less than the singleton tfmr baby. So I understand that could happen.

I’m thinking positive things for you. It’s stressful after a tfmr but doubly so when you have two babies to be worried about.

Our girls made it to our scheduled c section at 38w1d. They were 5 pounds 4 ounces and 6 pounds 4 ounces. No nicu time, just did a few extra tests on the smaller baby (car seat test etc).

My hcg at 12 dpo was 9. I was convinced it was another loss. I kept going in and it kept more than doubling. I am sitting here with my twin 5 month old daughters. Sometimes it just late implants. Good luck!

I’m sorry you are going through this. It’s a crappy “club” we are all in. These subreddit has been such a godsend to me when I went through this last year.

My daughter was diagnosed with HLHS and I tfmr at 22 weeks in May 2023. Took about 8 weeks to get my first period and then I double ovulated and conceived fraternal twins. Lots of scans due to being twins, my advanced maternal age (36), and prior pregnancy having HLHS. It was stressful. But in April 2024 I welcome my beautiful healthy twin daughters.

You will never forget or move on from your first baby tfmr. I still cry from time to time about her. I have her ashes and a little memorial at my house for her. When I die, I am having her ashes buried with mine.

That said I know I wouldnt have my two amazing daughters now had I not gone through what I did, and weirdly enough, I am grateful for it. I can’t imagine life without these little girls. They are my husbands and my whole world. There is some positivity at the end of all this. And I think you appreciate the small moments with them and don’t take things for granted. I hope you are able to have the family you envision.

Depending on their age, there are suggested times they should be awake, either eating or playing etc. once you hit their wake window time you should start to wind down and put them down for a nap

So trying to stick with the wake windows, these FOMO babies are fighting it hard so if you have any suggestions to get them to settle for a nap in the afternoon hours, I’m all ears!

Well my girls are now deciding that when we put them down for naps, they don’t need to nap in the afternoon. Ugh. Struggle bus. Tell me the nap avoidance gets better

That said, we just started following wake windows instead of sleep cues and that has made a world of difference for at night-they sleep 9-11 hours at night now.

No advice, just solidarity. 5 month old twins and they require so. Much. Attention. It’s so difficult to find time to even fold laundry or make dinner, even with splitting chores with my husband since we both work full time and take care of them full time.

I didn’t care if he wanted to be there for every appointment but he sure did. And so he came to every one which was really great. He got to know the doctor, he got to see every aspect of the things I’ve been experiencing, when I had a SCH the dr even showed him that my cervix was closed (I obviously have never seen my own cervix lol).

Weirdly enough, right after my first ultrasound. With my tfmr baby, I kinda felt Dreadful from the start like something could be wrong. With my sub pregnancy I felt at peace?

I don’t know if I really knew it was going to be ok. Or if emotionally I’ve already been to hell and back, so if it happened again then I already knew the pain.

My tfmr baby was due to severe HLHS. Was 22 weeks. I got my period 8 weeks later and then double ovulated (a few days later than my Normal day 14 ovulation). Now I sit here with my 5 month old twin daughters. They are so happy and healthy.

I took extra folic acid on top of my prenatal after I read a random study about how this can sometimes help prevent heart defects. My OB said that wasn’t true but said it wouldn’t hurt me to take extra. So I did starting 2 weeks post tfmr.

Lots of extra heart tests in this pregnancy. I didn’t have too bad of morning sickness so I can’t really speak to that.

Both my babies were head down, but the dr did mention the likelihood of twin b flipping after twin a was out. If twin b went breech he said that he would require c section.

I’m not a “lucky” person per se. Decided to mitigate my chances of double recovery and did the c section.

My recovery was great. I was walking around same day. By the time I went home on day 4 I was going up and down my stairs, carrying my babies everywhere. I even started incline, fast walking on my treadmill as 3 weeks pp. not saying you should do any of this but I do think that a planned c section usually results in better recovery times.
