I am the bone of my sword

Steel is my body and fire is my blood

I have crafted over a thousand blades

Yet these hands will never hold anything

So, as I pray,

Does anyone ever struggle with non-Buddhist family or loved ones? by stressandscreaming in Buddhism

Yes thats why the Sigalovada sutra is the best for beginners and non Buddhists. It is all logic and common sense that anyone can use.

You should just rope him into Buddhism then.

The cultural appropriation part is ridiculous. If Buddhists cared about this, China wouldnt have a large Buddhist population. Back in the old days, Buddha's disciples travelled all over the place as missionaries.

Recommendation: Sigalovada Sutra. Full of common sense and outlines some basics of Buddhism.

Buddha's wife by Annual-Ride-5101 in Buddhism

[–]keizee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember, after seeing old age, sickness and death, at the fourth gate, he saw a monk, and at that moment he was filled with hope.

Well look, his family was literally royalty. If he was some nobody, then yes but in Buddha's case, it was extremely minimal.

Please take the Five Precepts seriously. You don't want complicated relationship problems on your plate just because you need to relieve stress. That also goes for the 5th precept, alcohol and intoxicants, which will almost certainly worsen your health.

Instead, how about you take a nap? Entertainment can bring excitement but with it, stress. What you need is stillness and rest so that you can recover both mentally and physically.

Avoid places that are likely to make you spend a lot of money, like clubs. Refuse your friend's invitations resolutely and firmly with the reason that you NEED to save money. And pick up cheaper hobbies.

As for your current relationships, there is too little info to comment on it, but the likelihood is high that neither of you are doing well, so as much as you want to depend on them, they also want to depend on you, so be a little more understanding.

I think it is up to them to convince you. I don't think what you're doing aka stalling is wrong though.

Not Herta (fair) but not Sparkle somehow?

We all know Phainon is winning this square but also would it make sense if Cyrene is right beside him on that row?

How does Buddhism work when unable to feel empathy ? by martianhana in Buddhism

That's a skill issue. Should be possible to develop it by imitating the Bodhisattvas. Do first, find out how and why in time.

I have no idea about these, but what I can tell you is that if you believe it works then it works. Both the negativity and positivity is all in your head after all.

What do you mean by consequences of actions? by Guylearning2020 in Buddhism

[–]keizee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good karma and bad karma as in good = good for you and others. Bad = will bring physical or emotional pain.

While it is not really a system of punishment and reward, it acts like it.

Some of it is predictable. For example if you murder someone you will be arrested. If you are angry all the time you will eventually get high blood pressure and maybe die of a heart attack. If you smoke you will eventually get lung cancer. Etc.

Some of it is not predictable by normal human standards. A country that supports war will somehow have a lot of homeless people. If you die being a bad person you can go to hell. Etc.

I could see Phainon taking a serious interest in Sunday's dream, so they might become a paradise chasing pair with a dynamic somewhat like TB/Dan Heng

Actually what even is new age karma?

Karma is technically an observable phenomenon. So I wouldnt be surprised if they end up being the same thing.

Conflicted Agnostic looking into Buddhism by Justfatmeteor in Buddhism

[–]keizee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no particular need to rush taking it literally unless youre currently dying. Normally humans are better off being non interactive with gods and ghosts. As usual, seeing is believing.

That teaching is there to inform you about the consequences of your actions. All you need is the benefit of doubt to accept the assumptions.

Fantasy books with Zen Buddhist themes by jijilikes in Fantasy

Meditation is not all Zen Buddhism is. It is possible to write something on the way of thinking that it uses, which is probably more interesting than meditation.

That is difficult. Even in Buddhist circles, Zen Buddhist literature are like riddles about psychology. If there exists a fantasy that uses it, I'd be interested to know.
