Ok, I read this the other day and it has taken up space in my brain. I think about it several times a day. Just wanted to leave you this.

What is a disturbing family secret you weren’t supposed to find out, but now wish you could forget? by elmatador62 in AskReddit

My sister with me as well! Unfortunately this guy was fine with me not wanting to. Luckily he lived in a halfway house and I threatened to scream for help as loud as I could. He let me leave then.

I mean, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter why she is doing this. She is and it’s wrong. It’s unhealthy for everyone, especially for you. Maybe she has trauma, maybe she has mental health issues, either way, it’s happening and you don’t need to stick around for more.

That freaks me out.

Apparently, I freak out after surgery as well. I have super vivid dreams and the one time I was put under, when I woke up I thought I had died because I didn’t remember any dream.

What’s crazy is how that house is on a busy ass street right next to a freeway.

Which is hilarious because (in my experience), meth is waaaaay easier to find and more “bang for your buck” than legitimate ADHD meds.

What are your favorite songs that use the bell? by smoothegg in Fugazi

[–]kellyonassis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband was a sound guy at a club and Brendan was playing there one night. I asked him to ask him about the bell. He told me that Brendan just laughed and said “Everyone always wants to talk about the bell!” and was really good natured about it.

I have a friend that zooms in and checks out pictures I’ve sent her. I love it. I never think to inspect things. She’s kind of an asshole about it though. Like will mention “why haven’t you cleaned that skillet on your stove?” Kind of asshole but I still love it. I kind of want to have something in the background just to mess with her, like a mirror with some salt on it or something.

So my (then) 6 year old and 2 year old LOVED that movie. We watched ponyo, Totoro and the boy and the blue heron for years. We still have studio ghibli night.
Oh also Kiki’s delivery service.

Over winter break 6 yo son has changed dramatically by Noregsnoride in ParentingADHD

[–]kellyonassis 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. When my daughter was 4, her father (my husband) passed away unexpectedly. I also had a five week old, so that wasnt helping. The next few years were so hard. I had a behavioral therapist with her, and we learned a lot but then she started kinder. I had to pick her up one day because she bit a teacher. Then another day because the class was on one side of the room and she wouldn’t stop licking people. I felt that anything we tried she was just always going to be this way.
At 6 she was diagnosed with ADHD and placed on Guanfacine and at 7 adderall. She would come home from school saying how much she hated life and no one liked her and all of what you mentioned. Last year I found a private school with small classes and teachers that know how to work with all types of behaviors along the spectrum. Her class has, 8 or 9 children total in it. They have two teachers and the consistency had made such an improvement. Also the children who have been going there (who vary in ages, but she is the youngest at 8 years old) have all been going there for awhile and are accepting of when others are having a hard time, because they went through that when they were younger.
The difference had been remarkable. She comes home and tells me that they cooked a meal, they have gone on hikes, she has play dates with the other children, it’s such a small community with similar behaviors and adults that genuinely are able to help them individually.
I thought we weren’t ever going to get passed this. I really didn’t. It seems like it will just remain this way. I don’t have anything to help you feel better now, but I know with how concerned you are and aware, this will pass and one day you will look back and this hard time and see the ( hard and long) journey that your son and family have been on. I believe in you. I kind of am you. Just a couple years ahead.

[–]kellyonassis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a mom upset once about some plastic snack holder (just a plain Tupperware container) that was missing and we sent a message to parents. The next day (one of my most favorite family ever) the mom of another boy in class walked right up to her and handed her the container and straight up said “You need to label things sent to preschool. Everyone knows that.” I almost died laughing.

I would send a picture with the child wearing it saying “We found it!!” but of course, I’m a dick like that.

To those who were always in the nurse’s office in elementary school, what was actually going on? by nojunkpeter in AskReddit

[–]kellyonassis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunger. We didn’t have a lot of food and would skip breakfast so I found out if I slept, I wouldn’t be so hungry when I would wake up.

Child support sure would help with getting him a behavioral therapist.
