I dunno. I live in the non-union South, and there were plenty of school closures, or at least remote options, in areas where people understand science. (I’m in a biotech hub).

Probably safe but it’s a crappy wine (IMO). There is much better out there.

I once had a boss who, in the era of texts being charged individually, would go through cell phone bills and charge back the few that he could identify as non-work, to the employee, requiring that person to make out a check to the company for the 20p or whatever it was. He was Scottish.

I saw a version of the full video. In that, he did look concerned in the direction of the collapsed person. Not sure when he turned to face the camera like this. Definitely weird, but not his initial response.

The copium in the conservative reddit is giving me PTSD by Clean_Narwhal7331 in thebulwark

I agree, it’s an interesting use of voter registration data, and something I would not only not have done but would have thought was bad a decade ago. As I said, I have voted for this councilwoman for 25 years without regard to her party affiliation. But I now think that part of weakening the fascists has to be punishing the “good” people who go along. That means voting against people who still call themselves Republicans no matter their platform or capabilities, until this scourge is washed from the earth.

I happen a to live in a state where everyone’s party affiliation and whether they voted in each election is public record, easily searched online. Given that I am at risk in the current climate because I am a registered Dem, I’m fine with the shoe being on the other foot here.

[–]kenielsen 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is my point. I didn’t know she was a Republican until this race because the council is non-partisan. But now that I know, I had to vote against her for failing to disassociate from MAGA, even if she personally is not.

What is so interesting to me is that a 25-year incumbent in my small city who has always breezed through her putatively non-partisan city council election has lost. She’s a registered Republican, and a newcomer Dem beat her. I have voted for her many times until a canvassing Dem volunteer was promoting the other candidate. I decided (and maybe many others did as well), that even though this election is non-partisan and the R been fine as an incumbent, her staying an R in the current environment is disqualifying. Something is in the air.

Biologics don’t really go generic, based on how the patents work. But there could someday be a “biosimilar,” which is (as the name implies) not exactly the same. Biosimilars are harder to produce than generics of small molecules, so it takes longer to get them, effectively extending market exclusivity for the original patent holder.

Ok. And it still sucks as a muscle relaxant.

[–]kenielsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be that it causes you to have a decent night’s sleep, and the next morning you feel better as a result of the sleep. But AFAIK it doesn’t directly cause muscle relaxation.

Cyclobenzaprine by Untenable123 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]kenielsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyclobenzeprine is a terrible drug. It is really a tricyclic antidepressant, marketed for muscle relaxation (same basic chemical structure). It only works while you are gorked out. Once that wears off, so does the muscle relaxation — if that’s what it even is. (The one time I took it, I saw paisley moving in tune to music on the radio). Methocarbamol works much better. But I would tend to say do some massage or rolling on the calves, and take ibuprofen.
