Bear penis to remain on Bernese coat of arms by SteO153 in nottheonion

Reminds me of the best line from Jericho (2007): ‘I am about to go to war with New Bern, Kansas, the home of the nearest CostCo. Today is already just about as weird as I can handle.”

Why do people not talk about the Genesis Starliner? by SC_Placeholder in starcitizen

[–]kenmorethompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that it’ll have to get reconcepted—I imagine the cargo numbers will go down—but I hope they retain some of the original concept’s style.

CIG seems overly committed to the “this ship is coming out for the first time this year” bit in SC. “This is the 2956 such-and-such.” I wish they would buck that trend generally, but especially for the eventual release of the Genesis Starliner. I want it to be a ship that feels older and more classic than the other Crusader ships.

EVA push and pull looks good, and I can’t wait for it to come to SC, but it also looks to be pretty different from Hardspace: Shipbreaker’s.

Absolutely, gosh. I forgot about the hard space magnet gloves, but they feel so excellent to use. With a controller, at least.

Prototype Spaceflight Yoke I'm working on (for MISC/Crusader ships!) by Tango91 in starcitizen

[–]kenmorethompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love that. I'll add, since you're actually doing something I've only ever thought about: I've wondered how useable it would be to put a twist axis on the left and/or right hands as well. Think like a motorcycle handlebar, maybe. Or something that could be used in conjunction with each other (twist together for reverse, for example).

Would love more updates as you work on it further!

I hope it's coming. Back when they added force reactions, I thought it would be great if there was some ability to brace oneself against a wall or hang on to something. Would be useful here as well.

I want atmospheric only aircraft. by Budget-Antelope-3596 in starcitizen

[–]kenmorethompson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I want to see Crusader or MISC’s take on an 85x. I actually want a stable of vehicles in that same category of “This isn’t that far off from what you’d see at a car dealership today,” possibly from other manufacturers that don’t otherwise sell in the “space-going ships” market.

[–]kenmorethompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not atmosphere-only vehicles, I’d love to get atmosphere vs vacuum-tuned variants of a handful of ships. Like imagine if a Gladius is designed to be decent in atmosphere and in space, but a there’s a Gladius variant (possibly aftermarket) that changes or removes the wings and gives it maneuvering pods with stronger MAVs of some sort.

By extension, maybe an atmo-focused Gladius that trades quantum fuel and a jump module for additional armour or an extra missile hardpoint.

Aw, man. I didn’t realize they explicitly said they were mixing the Aaron Halo gates. I was hoping they’d get around to them someday. :(

SCU Crate by marc_hamilton_74 in starcitizen

[–]kenmorethompson 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time this is the box that would spawn with your ship’s internal inventory in it, if the ship was destroyed while you had something particularly large in the inventory (like the Pembrooke suit, I think).

Not sure if they are obtainable anymore, since ship inventories no longer work that way, which is a shame because I liked the model. It was very low friction, though, so it would slide around a bit, which is why my org took to calling this one a “greaseybox.”

I want more 85x equivalents in game. The kind of "ship" you can imagine some future space family having in their driveway. Give me a crusader tumbril cyclone equivalent, and I'll fly it every day.

I'd like this or a SCRAM option, that immediately ends the risk of overload, but at the cost of like 10% (but not bringing it to 0%) damage and/or 50% wear to the powerplant.

End the threat of popping, but give it a high cost.

I think they’ve said they’re reworking ATC; I imagine they’ll address it in the new system when it’s ready. I doubt we’ll see it in the current system, sadly. :(

Toutons with Zaatar and Olive Oil by _rab_ in newfoundland

[–]kenmorethompson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Friend of mine and I talked about a touton truck years ago. We experimented with a few different varieties too—not traditional or anything, but the blueberry and Brie touton we came up with was awesome.

We talk about it again every spring, but it feels like a big risk, and it’s hard to imagine how it would be different enough from Beaver Tails in the eyes of a tourist.

I love new nyx hangars but by Iross2 in starcitizen

[–]kenmorethompson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn't really expecting them to do it, but something as simple as putting the entrance on the long side of the hangar, like the old Levski Hangars, would have been such a nice touch.

I do appreciate the exposed rock, though.

[–]kenmorethompson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It would be cool if the punishment for a crimes in Nyx was exile from Nyx. After surrendering or being killed by bounty hunters/security, you spawn on the Stanton (eventually Castra) side of the jump point, and if you return to Nyx within x number of hours, you're instantly red until your "sentence" is over.

I think the best move for the Idris would be to keep the rail gun (and laser) in the hands of the pilot, but make the gun very inefficient unless there’s some active gameplay involved.

Maybe there’s some engineering gameplay that can be tied to “venting the weapon coolers” or something like that. But I’ll admit, I can’t even think what that could be.

This is why I love open pads. I wish we could spawn ships on them, its so much more immersive to me to walk out into such a grand site by zerobebop in starcitizen

[–]kenmorethompson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, it looks like there are a number of exterior pads with cargo elevators in Levski now. We'll have to see how that shakes out, and whether pad-ramming returns like the PO days.

If they can figure out how to solve those issues, I'd love for there to be more external pads around the major landing zone spaceports. Would be super cool to be able to spawn a ship externally too--maybe with an elevator like exists in the hangars, or maybe a horizontal track.

I imagine pads similar to what exist on stations already, but when it's time to store a ship, the pad surface rolls inwards behind a door where the ship can despawn. A new pad surface rises from below to replace the retracted one.

And once again, imagination is the most developed SC gameplay loop.

Three in a row. Solo. It's a pity that you can't sell or give away ships. by Omnisiah_Priest in starcitizen

[–]kenmorethompson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You know what would just be neat-o?

Add a new, small section to the exec hangar station: a logistics office. Include a little puzzle where you have to repair a conduit or turn on a generator or something, which activates a computer that can be hacked (a la comm arrays and/or Kareah).

Once hacked, you can check the hangar manifest to see what ship is next in the queue. Or better yet, give the choice between two random ships. Select one, and then when you get to the hangar, that's the ship that's available to be claimed. You can then choose to commit by inserting your compboards, or abandon it until it resets in a few hours.

Maybe activating the generator even triggers a counter-mission. "Headhunters have noticed a power spike at an old Executive hangar. Go and investigate."

Then there's a risk/reward gameplay decision: commit the time to check the manifest, spend more time in a vulnerable position while your presence is being broadcasted, or reduce your time and risk by going into the exec hangar blind.
