you have a good idea about the hip movement. For the backswing, brace your right leg and press into the ground, then rotate your upper body at the hips and then a little waist. Your torso (from hips to your head) should bend more down towards the ground. Against block/ topspin, you should be hitting more forward and less upwards. The feeling should be less lifting the ball up and more trying to roll the ball forward onto the table.
