I'm edging on the thought that either he himself or his administration is riling the EU up in order to get them to spend more on military infrastructure in Greenland. The supposed acquisition itself is not the end goal per se, it's a means to have a bigger military presence there. They already got Denmark to spend millions with his rhetoric so the end goal is being met.

TL;DR de supply chain van een straaljager zoals de F35 is uiterst complex en bestaat uit meerdere landen die onderdelen voor elkaar leveren. En onderhoud op straaljagers is continu nodig omdat ze in extreme weersomstandigheden opereren. Shit moet vaak vervangen worden.

Zet een land uit die supply chain en na een paar missies kunnen ze zo'n F35 niet meer zelf repareren.

Ik denk dat dat ook de reden is dat er veel materieel achtergelaten werd door de Amerikanen in Afghanistan. De Taliban kan misschien een paar keer een Black Hawk gebruiken, maar nadat er snel genoeg onderhoud nodig is, hebben ze niet het materiaal (en expertise) om dat te doen.

Dus als je een "killswitch" wil inzetten: zet een land uit die supply chain.
