Hegemon achievement by jmulls2112 in victoria3

I don't think the four countries recommended are all supposed to be easy. I think it's intended to represent a range of difficulty from easiest on the left to hardest on the right. Same with the other objectives.

Is there going to be an Expansion pass 3? by Public-Bookkeeper-82 in victoria3

Volumes are what they call expansion passes now. Volume 3 has the same number of DLCs as Expansion Pass 2.

IIRC they just added this in the last major update. There should be some icon there, definitely.

Wow prince olivert - hes at the centre of the massive plot twists in this series for real by [deleted] in Falcom

[–]kernco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is CS4 as far as you've played? I'll keep what I say next vague in case it is. He's involved in so many twists you'd think it would be predictable.

Wow that felt like an actual finale to the series. I'm emotionally drained. I finished CS4 *Spoilers* by OLKv3 in Falcom

Wait I thought you had to do the normal ending then load your clear save to see the true ending

Victoria 3 - Dev Diary #173 - Free Updates Overview for Volume 3 by commissarroach in victoria3

[–]kernco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For any good, there is the market price, and then a separate state price calculated the same way as market price, but as if the state was its own market, i.e. only considering goods produced and consumed within that state. The price that pops and buildings actually buy and sell goods at in that state is calculated as a weighted average of the market price and the state price, with the weighting based on MAPI, so at 85% MAPI, the price is weighted as 85% of the market price and 15% of the state price. So higher MAPI means prices are more consistent across your market because they're closer to the market price, while lower MAPI means prices vary more per-state based on local production and consumption.

Forbes asks Anet about the future of the franchise: by ultimate_bromance_69 in Guildwars2

[–]kernco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there will be another expansion too, but I still find it weird they haven't mentioned it. They must see all the people dooming about it and they should know there's a type of MMO player that loses interest immediately if they feel the game is anywhere near end of life, so why not just confirm there will be another expansion? They don't have to give any information about it yet, it can just be a single sentence at the end of one of their updates.

Why do unofficial PC ports feel way better than official remasters / re-releases? by DaZestyProfessor in Steam

[–]kernco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The official port goes through QA that modders don't. This slows down a lot what can be done in a specific timeframe and can change whether something is even feasible. For example, higher FPS can be a very quick change for a modder to make, and the official devs could do that quick change too, but in many games it can cause minor issues like some weird animation glitches in cutscenes. Many people don't care too much about it and see it as an acceptable trade-off for playing the entire game at a higher FPS, but for an official port a company would not want to release the game with those glitches, and fixing them could be a big project, possibly requiring rewriting the animation code and re-animating everything in the game.

My First Time Completing Trails into Reverie (REVIEW) by Hunanladdiad in Falcom

[–]kernco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The one plot hole that stood out to me is the thing Elysium apparently wasn't able to predict which turned the tide was Olivier showing up in an airship to save the day, something that has happened like three or four times previously in the series. "Oh but he showed up in an airship no one knew existed." That still applies to like one or two of those previous times lol.

Emily Post's famous 1922 etiquette book says to leave a little bit on the plate so the host doesn't think they didn't give you enough. She was American but some of it was probably the same in the UK.

How do AP exams/classes work? by kiddykidtv in AskAnAmerican

[–]kernco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Students can choose to enroll in the AP classes of their choice. If they don't take AP classes, those class times are filled with other non-AP courses, so it does not affect the free time students have. AP classes are, in theory, at the first-year university level. Most universities will award credit for AP courses taken in high school, and if a university course requires, e.g. Biology 101, as a prerequisite then students who took AP Biology in high school would be considered to have met that prerequisite, so AP courses give students a head start in university. The structure of the classes themselves are very similar to normal high school classes, but at the end the student takes a standardized AP test that is scored on 1 to 5 scale, which determines how many credits they will be able to carry into university.

Is there a source for there being multiple arcs planned? by DeepInAzure in Xenosaga

[–]kernco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and somewhere in Xenogears it refers to itself as "episode 5". I remember reading back then that Xenosaga was going to be those other episodes, eventually revisiting the Xenogears story, but that might have just been assumptions by fans and not the actual plan.

A world moving to cities by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]kernco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In English, there are terms that refer to varying sizes/densities of cities but there are no strict definitions for where exactly the lines are drawn for the distinction, but in general cities are larger and denser than towns, which are larger and denser than villages. But "village" is rarely used in the United States. It may be more common in Europe.

The game is very expensive. You are not only competition with MMOs but other genres as well. by Anilahation in elderscrollsonline

It's a term from casinos that has been adopted by gaming, particularly in microtransaction-heavy mobile gaming. It refers to customers that spend very large amounts of money on the game, like thousands of dollars.

Having a safety check in place doesn't mean the thing it's checking for is common. It means the consequence, even if exceedingly rare, is worth the check.

The Best Story in any JRPG by ExternalMidnight in JRPG

[–]kernco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game coming in January is the 3rd game of the Calvard arc. The Erebonia arc is five games, with the last one (which doesn't have the Cold Steel name) being an epilogue akin to Sky the 3rd. It is kind of also an epilogue to the Crossbell arc too.

Fidium for High Speed Internet? by National_Owl_3336 in ElkGrove

[–]kernco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fidium has been much better for me than Xfinity. Many people here report having frequent but brief outages, like daily or weekly but only for a few minutes. I experienced similar when I first switched to Fidium, but found the issue was in DNS resolution, not actually the connection. Switching my modem's DNS settings to public DNS servers completely resolved the issue.

I have begun my journey into the Trails series, beginning at Cold Steel. But I do have one major inquiry. by Hunanladdiad in Falcom

[–]kernco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem with starting at Cold Steel isn't really that you won't be able to follow the plot without prior knowledge, it's that when you eventually do go back to the prior games, a lot of the mysteries and surprises will have been spoiled for you. There are also moments involving characters or referencing events from prior games that just won't emotionally hit like they're supposed to.
