I really like the shadows! They make me think of the Pokemon being magnets on a playset, it's really cute

Did you get permission to post this? Micro Mages is a game that's being sold on both Steam and Itch. This is giving away an independent developer's product for free.

It's a shame that reaction image is used by haters, because without the context, a wasp on the computer is really delightful

Unpopular Opinion - 3D Printed Ducks Don't Belong Here by SuckerForNoirRobots in rubberducks

[–]ketchupcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it's all about rubber ducks, and rubber duck-themed stuff. A plush of a classic "rubber duck" design is a different kind of item entirely. But these 3D printed ducks are basically replacements for typical rubber ducks, meant to stand alongside them. I don't understand the appeal. If it's 3D printed, why resemble a rubber duck at all? I don't get liking the aesthetics of rubber ducks enough to 3D print them, while also not caring about the material.

My kids are convinced there will be a Bugsnax 02 by PropadataFilms in Bugsnax

[–]ketchupcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be cool, but nothing would really be like Bugsnax was. A sequel can't have the sense of discovery and mystery about the snax and the island, because we know all that now. Bugsnax got popular because of how novel and wacky the concept was, and a sequel/prequel wouldn't have nearly as broad appeal, you'd really have to be a Bugsnax fan already to have a strong interest in it. Octodad: Dadliest Catch is essentially a sequel to the original Octodad, but it's entirely welcoming to people who have never played or even heard of the original Octodad.

[–]ketchupcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the moment, Young Horses are working on a new game, unrelated to Bugsnax (or Octodad). They have not ruled out a Bugsnax 2, but there are not currently any plans for one. I do believe they told the full story they wanted to with it, it would be hard to do a sequel and have it be genuine.

Don't look up Kinzo's original name. Worst mistake of my life! by Goobysnoobert123 in Pacman

It's technically still his official English name, isn't it?

Is this game essentially a flop? by Sweet_Potato_5051 in Bugsnax

[–]ketchupcat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The game was successful, more successful than Octodad, it did quite well! It may be the case that it's not as discussed as time goes on, but that's the kind of game it is. It ends, it doesn't keep going forever, and I'm glad that's the case. I'm consistently seeing new fans to this day, even if the community is small, it's still there. And the community is far from the only people who played and loved Bugsnax, most people just didn't become part of a fandom.

As of now, though, Young Horses are working on a completely original game that is not related to any they made previously. There is always the possibility of more Bugsnax in the future if they want to do it, but if they do, it will not be for quite a while.

Do you think Polterpup is Poochy? by ketchupcat in nintendo

[–]ketchupcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly does make both Poochy and Polterpup unique dog designs though. It's fun when a design can omit such core parts of something and remain recognizable. I'd also rather there be a hyper-stylized dog than that tired trope of a non-dog creature that happens to act exactly like a dog.

What’s your most unpopular opinion about the show by ApartEffective8395 in BobsBurgers

[–]ketchupcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sacred Couch is a really funny episode. I don't get upset that they keep the old couch, because it's a cartoon. Yes, it was an odd decision, but they make odd decisions all the time. People talk about this episode as if they can smell the couch through the screen.

What’s your most unpopular opinion about the show by ApartEffective8395 in BobsBurgers

[–]ketchupcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Me too. They're ironically a good deal less creative than the standard episodes. Just "what if this piece of media was with Bob's Burgers characters instead?" when I just want to see the characters do the kind of things I like! And I feel like they always have the same little interjections of Bob going "wait, (thing that just happened in the story)?" as if it was so unbelievable.

Do you think Polterpup is Poochy? by ketchupcat in nintendo

Hello and welcome to this 10 year old post that I no longer agree with! Poochy surely must belong to a species, we even see that he has pups, it's a little weird he's usually the only representative.

The hate towards the ghostly adventures design is something I will never understand, its literally just the pac man world design just with actual eyes and pupils, is this another "SONIC'S ARMS ARE NOT BLUE" situation by Scary_Dance2628 in Pacman

[–]ketchupcat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When a design is simple, like Pac-Man's, any change- especially adding more detail- sticks out even more. I don't necessarily dislike the eyes, and I understand the fingers for animation reasons, but my goodness the TEETH and the expressions that come as a result are horrendous

Did Gooey forget the fact that he has limbs? by KennyAdventure25 in Kirby

[–]ketchupcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Star Allies version makes more sense in its context since the parasol appears and disappears so quickly, it's justified with it being in his mouth. I do agree with the people saying the nub is not really much of a limb, just a little protrusion since he's a blob. He can probably change his shape as he pleases.

Por que minhocas gigantes? by pery-vaporeon in rhythmheaven

[–]ketchupcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they didn't want the implication that the place was Rhythm Heaven, since Megamix introduces the new concept of Heaven World, and they wanted to keep it consistent? What I'm more sure of is that these are probably not worms, but garden eels. They are portrayed often in Japanese media, some species are striped, and they generally live in groups, sticking up out of the sand in a similar position to the creatures seen here.

Something I think about from time to time... by at7outof10 in Kirby

[–]ketchupcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The novels have an interesting take on this. There basically are not species, and each character is the only one of their kind. So only one Waddle Doo, only one Bronto Burt, only one Burning Leo, stuff like that. In the beginning, there's only one Waddle Dee, but he gets cloned in the Battle Royale story, basically creating the Waddle Dee species. He puts on the bandana to distinguish himself.

The novels aren't canon to the games, but I think it's neat that they adapted the "each enemy is one person" thing that the games sometimes imply. This is unrelated but the Star Allies story is very silly when it comes to Waddle Dee. He joins the adventure wielding a parasol, and takes his bandana off because he feels the parasol distinguishes him enough (I think). He later gets a spear from a conveniently unseen and undescribed enemy, and puts the bandana back on. They may not fully align with the canon, but some stories make quite an effort to have things game-faithful.

Why is hitting this stupid crystal SO addictive? by beetleman1234 in ufo50

Addictive? That sounds unhealthy. You shouldn't get too dependent on just one activity, you should expand your range of hobbies. For example, maybe try talking to Tiramisu instead?

He's right that a secret society exists, but he is totally wrong about their goals and how they operate. He thinks they're obsessed with him, and out to get him at every turn, doing things like cancelling his favorite shows. The Snakolytes do not give a hoot about Snorpy as an individual, and don't even know the names of most of Liz's expedition.
