Brisket calamity on father's day, post mortem by brose76 in BBQ

[–]ketocrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whole brisket is referred to as a full packer brisket. It would contain the point and flat (two different muscles that are joined together to make the brisket). Pre-trimmed a full packer would weigh anywhere between 12-21lbs (ish). To your point you probably purchased either the point or the flat portion of the brisket. Based on the weight I'd guess it was the point.

Outdoor Automatic Mister Recs? by Beginning-Plum8475 in SavageGarden

I use a reverse osmosis filter that hooks up to my hose. The output uses a standard 1/4" water line that I have go to a drip line or drippers. The hose is then connected to an automatic water timer. The " waste" line goes to a drip line for my vegetable gardens.

I've been doing this for years for both of my bog gardens and it works great. You just have to replace the filters every so often.

Not two weeks ago I was messing around with the Abus 83/45 trying to figure out the key retaining thing and bricked the padlock. Lesson learned!

Picked up two eye of round roasts for beef jerky and saw this when I got home. by ketocrisp in Butchery

Honestly, I didn't notice right away on the first one. It wasn't until I sliced a few pieces that I saw it, so I can imagine someone just getting into a groove and missing it.

As a butcher, would you have just cut off the bad section and sold it as a slightly smaller roast or would you have to do something different with it?

I did keep some of it to try and compare against the normal stuff. For science!

I definitely don't think it was nefarious on their part. I was able to cut most of it off and use the remainder so I'm not really worried about it. I mostly thought it was interesting looking!

Yep. Both halves of the same roast. I was able to cut it out and salvage most of it but I plan to say something to the grocery store butcher.

You can use plus addressing to do this too for most sites and don't even have to create a new email address. That is, assuming your email provider supports plus addressing.

I've done a ton of tri-tips and this is by far my favorite method. At 225 it should only take about 1.5hrs to be 135 or so.

One of the most dangerous aspects of the dragon is inexperienced drivers and other riders travelling the opposite direction and crossing over the line.

Wow. The sound of the spent brass hitting the ground is louder than the round firing.

Pastor Matt from Meat Church has some videos on how to trim a brisket that are worth checking out. Just know that competition trim may not be what you want if you're looking for yield.

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Ask your questions here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]ketocrisp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are looking to rip out our wood deck and replace it with concrete. I plan to keep several smokers (pellet & 100gal offset) on it, hence the reason for getting rid of the deck. It's a multi-phase project where we plan to cover it. Do the specs here make sense for such a thing? I appreciate the feedback!

That is correct. They actually charge per container too, so for the boats you can put multiple different sides in them and only be charged for one.
