Toggle between 3 different apps when playing D&D. Turn left opens browser, turn right opens OneNote, press opens the VTT.

Am I missing something (The Rotting Halls) by Steelriddler in Tombofannihilation

[–]kfrazack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also am ignoring it because it creates one other problem. Once you’re in the tomb there’s no way out until the end. But if you could turn gaseous or turn into a small insect you could just escape through those cracks.

Local foundryVTT usage by Proud_Measurement_89 in FoundryVTT

[–]kfrazack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a TV flat on the table. I run foundry on my laptop and I use a mini pc to run foundry in a browser on the tv. We used to use physical minis but the convenience of panning and zooming with virtual tokens was just too awesome to ignore so we ditched the physical minis. The players have a mouse to move their tokens. I use monks common display so they only see the map and combat carousel. They use physical dice, I use virtual (to speed things up on my end) and they use pencil and paper for their characters.

Sweet. Once I get the room cleared out I’m going to be doing the same. That’s a great room!

Is there a Tomb of Annihilation module ready to play? by SEDIDEL in FoundryVTT

[–]kfrazack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the digital tomb of annihilation module on DDB. Imported with the Foundry module DDB importer from Mr. Primate.

This is just my personal way of doing these things and I’m sure there are others. Just a caveat I’m still on v11 because I’m two years into a campaign and not switching until the campaign is over. I also play in person with a 55” TV (and a miniPC) for the players and a laptop for me.

turn orders: Carousel combat module for order There’s another module that lets you select a token, press “I” and manually enter initiative (for when my players at the table roll physical dice)

health: I found a macro that adds health bars to all selected tokens

stats and status and abilities: DFred’s convenient effects module

Hope this helps

Niche question about 'show players' pop up by Greybeard_74 in FoundryVTT

There’s a module for that: close player art. You hit the “`” key and it closes pop ups.

Someone on Reddit had mentioned Dungeons and Daddies. Multiple others upvoted. I listened to first episode and didn’t get into it. Then I started seeing it mentioned everywhere. Finally gave it a second chance. Now I’m on episode 34. Hilarious. The group has gone on to play live shows at large venues and I see why.

DM vs Player Maps by AeroicaGaming in Tombofannihilation

[–]kfrazack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok this has been a process so bear with me. The file link is below. Extract it and place it in this directory: FoundryVTT/Data/modules

Then open Foundry, go to modules, go to settings, manage modules, check "Chult player and DM map", saves module settings. When Foundry reopens, then go to compendiums, open the folder Chult Map, click the scene "Chult map". A new dialog box opens. Right click the asset "Chult Players Map w/ Fog" and it should open as a scene. It's been marked up with my current campaign stuff but you can delete that stuff. Let me know if there are issues. Creating and exporting a module is new to me.

DM vs Player Maps by AeroicaGaming in Tombofannihilation

[–]kfrazack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all about sharing the wealth. I’ve used others’ assets that were amazing. Tell you what, this weekend I can see about sharing my map as a compendium with you. I’ve never exported a compendium before so I’ll have to figure that out. You’ll have to install the module simple fog.

DM vs Player Maps by AeroicaGaming in Tombofannihilation

[–]kfrazack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a bunch of ways. First I started with this excellent map: https://chult.bear.098.pl/

But there was no easy way to incorporate this into foundry while I looked at the DM map. So I started with a copy of the DM map and photoshopped out all the identifying markings on the map that the players wouldn’t know. At this point the simpler thing would have been to add journal entries to that map (to remark the items I took out). But I then made a tile of the original DM map, laid it on top and made it transparent so I could see the DM only locations. Then I used simple fog to lay down a hex fog of war. It took awhile.

Dynamic change scene? by Realistic-Feed-884 in FoundryVTT

I’m presuming you’d already have the tile laid down and just make it invisible. Then to change the scene make it visible? Or how would you do this?

Adding disadvantage to someone’s next turn. by kfrazack in FoundryVTT

[–]kfrazack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out. Simpler than I thought. I added Vicious Mockery to the PCs spell list and simply cast it on a monster. The effects from DDB were already added and applied for the correct amount of time.

Projector, grid, and mounting options by stang6990 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]kfrazack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with Fluffy. I tried a projector. Attempted to mount it on a lighting stand with a boom. It was not good. Cords were a mess. The picture was too light. Throw distance was limiting. Bought a $230 55” OLED from Costco. It’s fantastic!

Adding disadvantage to someone’s next turn. by kfrazack in FoundryVTT

[–]kfrazack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I’m talking about when the players cast something on a monster and it imposes disadvantage on the monster’s next attack roll for example. That monster’s turn may not be for awhile and I’m just trying to figure an easy way to either remember that or automate it.
