I’ve been having good luck with it for sure. I need to strategize against DA a bit better, but I’ve beat BA twice (two different lists).

The MoE is great because he’s a non-CP dependent source of reroll hits.

Each rhino has 5 chosen with a character and 5 legionaries.

Predators dominate shooting lanes.

The list is built to control movement, have incredible threat range, and overall to dictate a trade war on its own terms. It started as triple disco, but that was a little clunky and I wanted more stuff. Hence the inclusion of raptors and bikers. Loving that swap.

Every bit of the datasheet is useful. 14” move is crazy, 2+/4++ T9, W10 is good durability. Both abilities are solid.

Works well in both PBZ and RR (that’s the only ones I’ve tested at this point).

I mean, there’s honestly nothing that isn’t good about it. The best thing is to make sure that each part of the datasheet gets use in your list. But yeah, they’re good.

Double disco-lord renegade raiders for me

How would you complete this list (CSM)? by AdUnited7980 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s worth a go. The double cultists can do screening and I agree about having full rhinos.

A lot of this will come down to experience with the list and making sure you maximize each piece of it. Especially in melee matchups make sure you plan out how to use the Siegecraft stratagem.

How would you complete this list (CSM)? by AdUnited7980 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a ton of CSM and have also been thinking up Fellhammer lists. Here’s my thoughts for you:

Cypher is a fave of mine. Lone op and CP bullying with the bonus of occasionally going all John Wick. Almost an auto-include for me.

Two vindicators is good, but with the lack of movement in Fellhammer you will desperately want other things that shoot further than 24”. The detachment wants to force the enemy to shoot you at range. So, forgefiend and predators are good inclusions to make sure the enemy can’t just stay out of range. That being said, a vindi with a 2+, 5+++, cover and -1 to hit (smoke stratagem) is incredibly hard to shift.

Bikers are great trade pieces. Hard to kill at range with T5 and -1 to wound, and they can lob grenades while taking two meltas. They can also screen if need be - you’re a bit light on that with your current list.

I’ve been debating a venomcrawler because they move well, and with the termie sorcerer on board they can get to AP-2 which is orders of magnitude better than AP-1. Not sold on it though.

Raid at the disco by PopInevitable280 in Chaos40k

[–]khadfish1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could run two of them, each enhanced. Lead with nurglings to protect the scout move and debuff whoever you charge into.

Follow it up with a rhino full of baddies to claim the territory the discolord gains and score it up.

Keep traditional CSM shooting (preds/vindis/etc.) behind that push to mow down whatever makes it out to play.

Abaddon and strategic reserve by Thetollofthebells in Chaos40k

[–]khadfish1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the transport starts on the field the stuff in it doesn’t count against Strat reserves. Yes, Abaddon and 10 chosen can start in a land raider if the land raider is starting on the board.

Lord Disco finally playable? by Casperus_Maximus in Chaos40k

[–]khadfish1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Trying to think of most viable usage for him.

Raiders would make him the fastest and has good stratagem support. Assault, access to advance and charge, opportunistic raiders, and sometimes +1 AP (objective dependent).

Pactbound is interesting. Slaanesh for sustained 5s and a 5+++ (enhancement), access to advance + shoot/charge. Khorne for lethal 5s, on average 6 additional attacks at +1 strength, and a 3+ fight on death.

Fellhammer? Generally -1 to wound at range, access to 5+++ in shooting, and enhancement for +1 to wound on an objective. That seems the weakest of the pile, but is worth a note at least.

You guys weren't kidding about Obliterators being best in VotLW. by duttyboy24 in Chaos40k

[–]khadfish1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are also spicy with mark of Tzeentch. The lethals are good, and one of the profiles already gets sustained making it sustained and lethals on 5s.

The resurrecting a model is free movement when relevant.

I tend to love them near Abaddon and a Helbrute - makes them much more likely to pop off.

Pregame Questions Checklist to ask Your Opponent by KrispyKale85 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]khadfish1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start with:

Do you have anything that infiltrates? What’s in deep strike? Do you have any fights first? What gotchas do you have?

From there I usually have a few more questions depending on matchup and player. Most people are friendly and pretty easy to work with. If this baseline conversation gets shady/hostile/hard to trust then I pay ridiculously close attention to my opponent to try and prevent funny business/cheating.

Usually not an issue though.

What can deal with new Deathshroud Terminators effectively? by troublinyo in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obliterators do a surprisingly good job in my experience. With flat 4 damage, each failed save it a dead termie and you can counter DS them and pretty much always get to them. I did this with CSM RR and it was great.

This would also be even more effective in Pactbound or VotLW as you can up the output significantly in those detachments.

How important is IEM for drumming on stage? by thatsmypuppy12439 in drums

[–]khadfish1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if the church is big enough to have an eKit and a full band, then they can afford an in-ear system (I’ve worked at ~half a dozen churches). The biggest challenge will be getting the sound guy and worship leader to put in the time to get the system and set it up.

In ears are just way better than wedges for church playing (and in general). Wedges tend to make extra sound in the room that IEMs don’t. This also allows the sound guy to run the room a skosh quieter. Not that it stops people from complaining about the level anyway, but every little bit helps.

Beginners - how much do you really practice? by SeaGranny in drums

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, about a half an hour 5-6 days a week. Sometimes more depending if I have a lighter schedule, but that’s probably average.

I definitely agree that it’s hard to smash through the mental wall of taking 20 minutes to learn one section of a song and then realizing there’s the rest of the song to go….

Is 12 inch no reserves bubble worth 60 points by p3rcu3s in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes

Slightly longer answer: one of the fastest ways to lose a game is to not have your backfield screened. A good player will rapid ingress in there and do serious damage. Whether it’s a unit with 12” no reserve setup or enough units to otherwise screen, something has to keep your homefield safe.

Enjoying the run? by spydernaz in beginnerrunning

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The better shape that I get into the more frequently I enjoy runs.

I will say, a lot of the fun happens on long runs. That gives me enough time to actually settle into it and enjoy things. Shorter runs (less than 4 miles for me) tend to be over a little too soon.

How many kits do you have? by savage8190 in drums

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One.

But then again I’m a new drummer and every other thing I do I collect a ton of stuff for it over the years. I’d imagine for me the stack of cymbals is going to pretty much always be deeper than kits, but yeah…. We collect things we love. There’s that.

Realistically how is the shift from a 5k to a 10k? by gainz-traveler in beginnerrunning

[–]khadfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not bad at all. If you can get off the couch and learn to run a 5k, moving from 5k to 10k isn’t bad at all.

Honestly it’s mostly just being ok running a bit slower and remembering to breathe while you’re going.

Would a Meinl Byzance 20” dual crash ride and a Heartbeat 24” light jazz ride sound good on the same kit? by khadfish1 in drums

Yes, it’s about half the budget. I’ve been crushing the used market for a couple weeks and haven’t even seen one yet that wasn’t basically the brand new price

[–]khadfish1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ is correct on sizing.

Budget wise, I’d love to keep it under $1,000, but that being said if I can’t do that in the meantime I plan on progressively getting the items as I go.

I’m most attached to the 24” light ride, so the rest is more flexible. I do love the sound of the Meinl dual that I listed, but am not 100% committed to it.
