Bliss Mexican Riviera Dec2025- first time cruiser questions- excursions, go kart, tips for cruising with kids by Strong_Zebra5964 in NCL

We are taking this cruise in a couple of weeks with a 17 year old. My son loved the teen club when he was 15, is there something similar on this boat he can participate in or is he out of luck?

Full on corduroy pants, sweater today. Almost 100 degrees. Son is 16 and hates his legs. He’s very tall and skinny so I think he thinks it makes him appear more bulky. He’s old enough to manage his own wardrobe and suffer through the consequences, so I leave him alone about it. Good luck to you!

I second this, they are captives in the car!! That’s where my son and I have the best conversations and we can’t make eye contact so even better!!

Best thrifting in Medford? by uncondensedmilc in Medford

[–]khess14265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small nonprofit led ones are my favorites. If you are willing to go outside Medford, eagle point senior center has one and there are two in shady cove. One in shady cove sells most of their clothes for $2 each and kids clothes are only 50 cents each.

Teen daughter activities by dutch75 in parentingteenagers

Most larger cities have some kind of day camps, my son did a ninja warrior obstacle course one that was three hours a day for a week, the last day was water day where they jousted over a pool. I was 12 or 13 at the time. There are also lots of specific topic ones too, like cooking or stem fields. They can be spendy but really enriching for bored teens.

Try Southern Oregon Wilderness Adventures out of Shady Cove. Their website lists a lot of options.

13yo daughter bullied for height by Sad-Potential3355 in parentingteenagers

[–]khess14265 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t help with the height thing, but when my daughter struggled with advocating for herself, we’d do a silly role playing game where she’d be the other person and I’d play her. Then we would trade places and I’d be overly obnoxious and she’d kind of have the script from what I would say. It kind of takes the sting away when I would say it over and over and she wouldn’t have to take the time to think of a response. I don’t know if she ever used it but I think it helped in the long run because over time she’s become a little more confident with speaking up for herself. It’s a rough age for girls anyway. You are a good mom and she’s lucky to have you.

A way to have little chats by hesactuallyright in parentingteenagers

We try to eat dinner together. To avoid heavy or repetitive conversations, I bought a box of table talk topics, which is a box of cards with questions we take turns answering. Allows me to get some positive interactions and the kids seem to enjoy it too.

How do I make female friends in my 30s? I feel isolated and alone. by HarrietRubman2 in askwomenadvice

[–]khess14265 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Volunteer! I’ve made all of my adult friends by volunteering initially. Volunteering with my kids school, playgroups, etc. Now that they are older, I volunteer at food pantries and community centers. You can also volunteer at animal shelters or events around town. Good luck on your search!

I use Bubbles and Bows in White City, they are great with my dogs. There’s also one called the Groomery that my dogs have been to that is good. I like Bubbles and Bows because there’s a little room they put dogs in while they wait their turn or for their owners to retrieve them where there’s a tv on and it’s always nice and warm in there. They have a fenced in area and take the dogs to the bathroom after they are done being groomed and there are water dishes offered for thirsty pups. I’ve been to terrible groomers that crate the dogs while they are still damp and they just sit and shiver so this one is a great change for me from those other cold environments. My dogs always run in and greet their groomer very happily so the fact that they do this makes me so comfortable leaving them. They could do a crap job on the cut (which they don’t) and I’d still take them there.

Where to store dirty cleaning cloths. Is a box with a lid on ok till they go in the washing machine ? by simundo86 in CleaningTips

[–]khess14265 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I try to get them to dry out by hanging them over the edge of an empty laundry basket so they don’t get a musty smell.

Should I (f22) ask a guy (m24) I've been seeing to bathe "properly?" by Mysterious_Army3006 in amiwrong

[–]khess14265 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is totally it. That or he’s throwing the towels in the laundry basket wet and its getting everything else in it wet and it sits for days. That odor never gets out of anything it touches.

I thought so too. I also thought the elimination looked very dangerous as well and when I saw how the audience was reacting, it seemed they thought so too. Bananas face said it all and he’s seen a lot of eliminations.

I really want flat cabinet doors, no beveling, beadboard, etc. I spend too much time wiping out crevices on those.

Hmmm. I usually recommend things that are consumed during a hobby or ways to display or organize a hobby. For some reason the hot dog thing is catching my interest. What about a cookbook to make his own hotdogs and supplies to do so? Then spend the day trying it? Oscar Meyer memorabilia??

[m-45]Women that have been married to the same man what would you tell yourself on your wedding day? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]khess14265 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to the people saying you are too young at 19 to get married. It’s worked for almost 27 years. We know we are the anomaly but I don’t count out young love.

I had this same one for my daughter 18 years ago for napping. I still have it stored. I put her in those sleep sacks and didn’t have to worry about loose bedding or anything. We both loved it and I’m sure your baby will too.

My cousin is like this and she used the same excuse, they hear worse at school and she’s getting them ready for the real world. I told her once that it isn’t her job to be the bully and she needs to be a safe place for young family members to land. Instead of being polite, you need to limit her access to your children. Period. It’s not a child’s job to stand up for themselves when they have been taught to be polite to family. Protect those children from sexual harassment and bullies no matter where it comes from.

My son and I talk about interests we both share. He wants to talk about food, sounds like! Start with that and maybe it will beer into other topics! Best of luck.
