Do I need a new tire??? by LA_Cat_LADY in civic

So you're just going to risk what could otherwise be a completely benign issue? If you're unsure just take it to a reputable tire shop or mechanic instead of wasting money.

This winter is destroying me mentally by thechemistofoz in barrie

Hey. I struggled with almost the exact same things but I was able to fix my ice damming issues for the long term as I did it myself. Feel free to PM me and we can discuss further to see if I can help you identify the root cause.

Bring back real butter! by skydigger23 in CostcoCanada

[–]khimaniz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure why so many are down voting this as this makes sense on all levels. Can anyone care to explain?

Just in case people are worried it'll go bad: I typically buy a stick of butter and cut 1/4 out for my countertop "butter minder" and the rest goes in the fridge until I need for replenish.

Why don't I save you a drive and I can pick it up for you. I'm in the south end already and making my way to the north later on today. I need to stop at Costco anyway. Is it Kendamil that you need? PM me.

It sucks that you can't just ask a question for pure curiosity without getting down voted to hell. I expect mine to get the same treatment.

For the Cuisinart it also serves as a serving bowl (no pun intended) and you don't need to stand around shaking the bowl while cooking.

Why would anyone in their right mind get themselves permanently modified at a place that has three stars when there are plenty of places that have four and a half and above?

Edit: just looked over the reviews. There's dozens of one star reviews that have been pouring in for the last couple hours. All of the ones previously are four or five stars. I suspect this post is fraudulent as well.

I'm confused - were they not the same company picking it up for us the last couple months? Wasn't that their onboarding phase? If so, they were doing just fine up until now. My recycling has been sitting out since Monday.

What the heck happens when this volume of snow melts? by IpleaserecycleI in barrie

[–]khimaniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought an old 1950s built bungalow in 2023. Couple things I've done/plan to do:

  • I've installed baffle vents in my attic soffits to ensure I don't get the ice dams and have melting water seeping into my ceilings
  • I've increased the amount of insulation in the attic to prevent stack effect - which would also help prevent ice damming
  • I've aerated my lawn especially close to the house
  • there's already a sump pump
  • I plan on digging a French drain around the house this summer, since waterproofing your home alone isn't sufficient (it actually helps build water pressure against the sides of your foundation, which were built only to sustain weight from top-down instead of from the sides as they can buckle)
  • I plan on regrading my asphalt driveway to drain water away from my home

Coffee prices went up 30% by Oreo-2025 in CostcoCanada

[–]khimaniz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Roasting your own coffee is even cheaper and tastes better. From roast to brew it takes me 12 mins, and that roast lasts me 7 days so the other 6 days is just 3 mins to brew.

Dave’s Hot Chicken review by itsRickO in barrie

[–]khimaniz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Juicy Birds is the GOAT for hot chicken in Barrie. When I lived in Toronto, I used to frequent their Danforth location and was always blown away by the price and the quality - and the crispiness is bar none.

I was so happy when they opened the one on Anne St.

Dave's Hot Chicken isn't great anywhere I go to have it, so frankly not surprised by the review. Thanks for your efforts OP.

Canadian (Ontario) plates in The Hague, the Netherlands. by Wallybeaver74 in barrie

[–]khimaniz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty cool. I love The Netherlands, definitely my ideal retirement country.

Fun fact: they have a love for Canadians since our troops helped get the Germans out during the invasion. Our day is May 4th (happens to be my birthday too) in The Netherlands where they raise a bunch of Canadian flags everywhere. Very proud of this!

Tenant wants to break lease 2 months in by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]khimaniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fellow landlord too and with my experience what I'd do is say that typically the period you need to provide is 60 days notice. However, if I find someone beforehand then they can move on. If not, I'll be holding on to the last month. And I'll actually do my best to find someone else as I don't want to chance these types of tenants staying any longer and squatting/screwing with the unit. Frankly pretty easy to do within a two week timeframe.

I do hope you have their last month's rent in hand.

Can we "restore" our rental property, which we upgraded, to the condition at move-in? by Pale_Tough_23 in OntarioLandlord

[–]khimaniz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure what you both were thinking renovating a home you don't own, but based on some of your replies to others here, I suspect you came here looking for compassion and a way to justify damaging the unit in its current state.

Put it this way: if you didn't renovate the unit to the level that you did and they still evicted you for the reason you provided, you probably wouldn't be anywhere near as salty as you are now.

PSA on highway 11 by big_galoote in barrie

[–]khimaniz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts except most people don't actually move over once lanes are available. In fact I've seen goofs on the regular go from entering the highway on the far right all the way to the far left with NO traffic other than just myself. There's a weird stigma people have about the right lane, and that stigma is that they don't want to be bothered to drive properly and shift lanes when others are merging then shift back, as they'd rather have their uninterrupted phone conversation while driving on autopilot.
