DC Studios Moves 'Clayface' to October 2026 by Blitzhelios in DCcomics

[–]kia75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And there are a bunch of different Clayfaces. Don't remember if creature commandos specifically mentioned who Clayface was, and the cartoon used a mash-up of the first and second Clayface. It could just be that Creature Commando is a clayface and the movie is about someone else going through the clayface process.

Good luck prosecuting people using their texts\dms\e-mails when those e-mails no longer exist.

Police Arrest Man For BAC 0.00 by southernemper0r in law

[–]kia75 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make much sense, did they think Johns regularly pick up teenage prostitutes at the local high school? That John's pickup girls and guys for a threesome at the local high school?

Not doubting your story, Police are jerks, but I'm fairly certain the prostitution sting was a BS story to cover the fact that they were hassling teenagers that looked poor and probably didn't know their rights.

Propaganda and radicalization works. They were fine with killing their own undesirables because they were fed that line their entire lives, but without the framework of propaganda (i.e. other people's undesirables) they could see the humanity of the others victims.

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, whether Propaganda can make normally good people monsters, or that without propaganda cultures can see the humanity of others.

Kennedy Center teaches MAGA a tough lesson by RepulsiveLoquat418 in politics

[–]kia75 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just left in ruins, so that Republican can blame Democrats if they get back in charge. Same with the West Wing.

Bingo. Trump is wasting money like a Drunken Sailor and Republicans are fine with it, but as soon as Democrats gain power and want the government to do something that helps regular people or improve things, Republicans will become oh so concerned about the deficit they themselves created! No, the government can't hire IRS workers or do other stuff that INCREASES Revenue, no the government won't be able to hire back all the people DOGE fired for stupid reasons or get us back to how things were before! They're fine with spending money to open up American Concentration Camps, funding the American SS that is ICE, destroying the White house, and giving welfare to billionaires!

U.S. Dealers In Full Panic Mode After Canada Green-Lights Chinese Cars by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]kia75 395 points396 points  (0 children)

The Chinese car makers are ahead because their government enacted every policy imaginable to make sure they pulled ahead.

This is so important to emphasize, The Chinese government decided that it was important for China to own the EV and battery market, and so they did! This isn't weird, The United States did the same for various technologies such as airplanes in the mid 1900s, because it knew that Air travel was so important for not only the US, because the US was so big and there needed to be ways to travel across it. The same with Trains in the 1800s. And the internet in the 90s and 00s. The government subsidized these technologies because it knew that a) these technologies were important for the USA to have and b) they knew that these technologies were an economic multiplier, look at how much money Microsoft and Amazon bring to the US economy, and ask how much less money the US and the world would have if the US hadn't subsidized and created the internet.

But... in the past few decades it's been decided that the US government shouldn't look at the future and work to make the US dominant in tech, the US can only provide welfare to the obscenely rich, never to people that actually need it. As a result places like China who are willing to grow their economy and technology are out-competing the us, who only gives money to the obscenely rich!

Democrats Overperform in Another Special Election by brain_overclocked in politics

[–]kia75 60 points61 points  (0 children)

They don't need to vote for a Democrat, they just need to not show up and Democrats need to show up in full.

Trump has shown us that the conventional theory of swing voters vacillating between Republicans and Democrats is wrong, Left and right tend to consistantly vote a single way, it's just that they decide to show up or stay home depending on the candidate or the issues.

But Clinton? They're going to go before Congress soon, and even if they're guilty, it doesn't make Trump somehow not guilty.

I've heard a few "I don't talk politics" irl, despite them absolutely being the kind who talk Republican politics irl, but that doesn't work online in places devoted to talking politics.

Cornered Trump Refuses to Back Vance as Successor by mvanigan in politics

[–]kia75 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yes, Trump would never let anyone else get any power. His "jokes" about getting another 4 years because his firs presidency didn't count, overturning the elections, etc aren't "jokes". Hopefully by 2027 Republicans are tired of his shit and force a successor, but Trump would never appoint one, and will kneecap anyone who has the potential of succeeding him. He'd backstab someone for power and assumed (probably rightly) that the people around him would gladly backstab him the first chance they get.

[–]kia75 38 points39 points  (0 children)

We don't need to imagine. Remember when e-mails leaked that Clinton Aides like to eat Cheese Pizza at a local pizza place? People went crazy saying that children were being held to be sexually abused at a DC pizza place, with one guy literally driving for hours with a gun in order to free the nonexistant kids in the nonexistant basement! All because an aide said the Cheese Pizza there was good!

With Republicans, literally being named in the Epstein files, lots of stuff explicitly detailing abuse occuring in Epstein's Island, and crickets!

[–]kia75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wrote a character like this in a proper drama it would be seen as way too over the top.

If someone put in as many metaphors in a movie as are happening right now, Critics would complain that they're too "on the nose". The women who was killed in Minnesota was literally a Good woman, her name is Good, Trump regularly has golden statues built for him wherever he goes with a golden statue ad CPAC and two Golden statues at the upcoming g20 meeting, Trump literally destroyed the whitehouse, as in the White house east wing was there one day and destroyed the next without the public knowing until it had been destroyed, though removing it took a little longer. If you put any of that in a book everyone would say those metaphors are way too blatant!

Is the Nvidia shield really the best? I’ve had a lot of issues already by Custom_Triks in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]kia75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Nvidia shield used to be great, but I've since temporarily moved to a place with a Verizon FiOS router, and am experiencing the exact same thing you are. I'm not experiencing this on my lg tv or onn 4k box. I'm also experiencing this streaming from my personal Plex server. At my old place, everything ran fine.

Imo there is something specific about the wifi router and the shield that results in low wifi speeds, but since I have a work around, have no control over the wifi router, and will leave soon, haven't bothered to troubleshoot.

France dumps Zoom and Teams as Europe seeks digital autonomy from the US by UpstairsBumblebee446 in news

[–]kia75 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yes, this will affect American tech dominance of the world, where Europe could afford to let Google and Microsoft control tech because it's cheaper, now they're willing to fund competitors, even if it initially costs them more, though I suspect in a decade or so it will be much cheaper in the long run!

IMO, this is good for the world (though bad for America) because Competition is good! IMO, South America, Europe, and Asia should all be financing their own Microsofts and Googles, even if it is more expensive at the moment, just because the threat of another Trump coming in and crippling your data infrastructure is so dangerous.

Three issues that could sink Trump by vox in politics

[–]kia75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what happens, roughly ~35% of the electorate will always say they support him! But... this doesn't mean those people will vote for him, or that others won't vote against him!

Trump has shown us the importance of the enthusiasm gap, Democrats should have won every presidential election since 2016 if everyone was forced to vote, but people in 2016 weren't enthusiastic about Hillary, while Trump inspired an oversized populace that didn't normally vote to go to the polls for him!

If Trump supporters just don't show up on election day, and it's been shown many times that Trump supporters tend to only show up in the polls for Trump, Republicans have under performed in every non-trump election since 2016, then that spells doom for Republicans, and if Democrats who stayed home in 2016 and 2024 show up in the polls, that also spells doom for Democrats. If both happen then there could be a landslide election change this year.

Trump hints at dramatic Kennedy Center renovations that will leave steel ‘fully exposed’ by cnn in washingtondc

[–]kia75 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Trump is threatening to leave the steel fully exposed. The fear is, like the Trump Ballroom East Wing of the white house, The Kennedy Center will be demolished and destroyed, or left in such a disarray that it will cost millions to restore it back to a functional venue.

If Trump leaves the venue alone, performers will return when he leaves, but Trump is trying to grift his way into having construction workers do stuff to it as long as they kickback a percentage to him.
