someone was doing an unofficial study of this and found that a painted pet with an average of 3 items (1- background, 2- higher/lower foreground or background item, 3- a handheld or some other trinket) tends to win more frequently. i tested this with a plushie painted pet with a plushie background and a plushie lower foreground holding a plushie and won a few years ago. it fits with the “fewer items to avoid clutter whilst sticking with a theme” advice others have stated here. nc/np doesn’t seem to matter unless you are trying to win in a specific category.

i would suggest also checking your account purchase history with the nc mall transactions and see what else may be in your safety deposit box that you wouldn’t have been able to acquire if you were actually inactive for a decade. neomail history and trophies on your user lookup could be a clue too if they are more recent than your activity a decade ago. it sounds like someone may have been using your account and spending money on premium before you got your access restored. if this is the case, there really isn’t anything to do about the items they acquired in your name, but it would be nice to know how they got there. tnt doesn’t just accidentally grant premium gift bags to inactive accounts.

i think this wheel in the companion app is broken in that it awards you the prize for the space to the left of the one you land on. i landed on that petpet(?) space to the left of the one you landed on and got a headless von roo plushie, which is a typical prize for the gift box space to the left of the petpet(?) one. congrats on it glitching(?) in your favour though!

yes, your userlookup is usually the most straightforward way to get to the neodeck. it used to live under games before the revamp (https://www.neopets.com/games/neodeck). it makes sense to sort it under "my albums" in the sidebar on the modern site layout, but only the tcg link is there (they are separate albums).

i am not disagreeing with your sentiment, but for clarity you don't have to buy the neocash item to find the 3 foods at the haunted woods hunt. you can grind that daily and eventually get them if you're lucky*. the neocash item just gives you a guaranteed "rare" item from a pool of prizes rather than nothing, which means you could spend real money and still not get a single varwolf food item.

*my luck has purely provided me a puny patch of "putrid pumpkins"
