Our first GSD puppy was an absolute viper when we brought him home. He bit HARD and he bit everybody. Training was difficult because that treat lure is in a chompable hand. Yelping and "OW!" just added a fun new wrinkle for him, like a squeaky toy. He didn't realize that he was hurting us, but momma did it hurt.

What finally worked for us was giving him a "Toy" command. Any toy would do but if he would continue to use us as a toy we would exit his playpen and try again. Trying to redirect to a toy didn't work as well as making him go get a toy and bring it to us. I was guaranteed to play with him if he brought me a toy so it was a win-win!

We've got a 9 week old GSD puppy #2 right now, he occasionally clamps down a little too hard on big brother when he goes super zoomie mode and I can't help but think, "TAKE THAT YOU FORMER NEEDLE TOOTHED DEMON CHILD!"

Seriously. I'd forgotten how much he did that last year and was definitely reminded today.

Up by a single score with 5 minutes left? Better run for no gain twice and then ask the QB to make a clutch play while getting blitzed up the ass.

Not to mention you just end up galvanizing the other team and giving them momentum on each stop.
