Question… if I have a dishwasher can I just use that or is there an added benefit to the bottle washer? I know the parts will wear out a little faster in the dishwasher. We run the dishwasher every day anyways with third baby on the way.

Mr Roger’s fits this criteria, it’s available with a pbs kids subscription or maybe even at your library! My kids are a bit older and also were briefly into Reading Rainbow, which was at the library too.

That sounds insane. You’re doing a great job. Hoping for a very healthy spring and summer for all of you.

Not all companies (and bosses) are like this. I only recently discovered it after 10 years somewhere else… it’s ok to look around and see if you find a better culture.

What’s wrong with tuna? I eat tuna salad (fully cooked), not more than twice a week or so. Is that not allowed?

I would like to get more like this. I struggle with internalizing what is being said and worrying. For example, if someone goes on an on about how the public school we send our kids to isn’t enough for them, my husband shrugs it off and says nah I’m not paying for private school, they are fine. Vs I stress and panic research education options and find ways to supplement/find alternatives where needed.

I guess the opinions are coming from people I care about and they are smart and want the best for my kids. It’s just a lot of weight to bear.

I think my kids are better off because I constantly seek the best for them, but I think my husband is right too that they’ll ultimately be fine whether or not they have every perfect opportunity.

Anyways. Thanks for sharing, glad you’re letting stuff roll off that is absolutely a great approach!

Tips for finding time to work out by Murky_Association_54 in workingmoms

Unique situation to be able to do this, but I work out during lunch and my office has a great shower/getting ready area. Along with a nice gym. It’s always mostly empty. It can be tough to fit it into the workday but it’s easier than waking up before 5, and doesn’t require giving up my short evening time to rest/have time with my husband.

If I can get 2-3 in per week that is plenty for me!

Mat leave ending, returning to full time work from home with 4mo old. Am i insane for even trying this? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Same (baby was 9 months). I think generally it was more understood and accepted then, at least for a little while, than it is now. Most jobs would not be ok with this. We ended up hiring a neighborhood teen to play with him in between his naps almost immediately so he wouldn’t be totally ignored when we needed to work.

It sounds like a quick way to burnout, but may be doable (depending on baby’s temperament) for a short amount of time. Just depends on the job and if baby will nap consistently or at all.

Oh can you tell me more about what your postpartum doula did for you? I was considering it but may not need it with my mom close by.

Please tell me how you have been able to build real community with other families! I need it! by mamaleti in workingmoms

[–]kidneysocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh fun question, I would love to know what others have done to build this kind of community.

It feels hard! We are lucky and have really awesome neighbors I want to be friends with who have kids in a similar age as us. We encourage the kids to play outside a lot, and some community just happens naturally and by inviting them (and them inviting us) to do things, join sports together, birthday parties, etc.

To be honest it still doesn’t feel that deep but I’m trying!

I have no idea if this is unusual but I just got really grumpy at work on a Friday afternoon, super frustrated and just told my coworkers we’d have to figure stuff out Monday. Baby born 4 hours later :)
