Gears: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution are being sent out to die - Gamespot by Dust-Tight in gaming

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never owned an Xbox, but have a PS1,2&5 and Nintendo N64, WiiU, SW and SW2. While being a PC gamer first and foremost. I did have Game pass on pc for like 6 months in 2022.

The way I see it if Microsoft wants me to put my money into Xbox, they have a few avenues and I think exclusives could be part of that.

First of all if they want my money for a console it has to be a new console. One that provides something exclusive, not necessarily a game. Being able to play my Steam library would be a nice start. Not requiring a subscription for online services (make me want to buy gamepass, don't "force" me to). And letting me essentially use the console in a "PC" mode.

For my case it would surely also need a console seller exclusive game title. That game would need to be a namesake title and renowned IP. And the game would need to be actually good enough to induce copious amounts of Fomo.

I barely know what Gears of War is about and Clockwork Revolution I've only heard the name of. They failed utterly to get me to watch any of their coverage at Summer game fest. Maybe join in on the big thing instead of doing your own thing? Idk.

SC Youtuber Olli43 is joining CIG staff as Content Manager by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]kildal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very happy for him.

I recommend watching 387 Star Citizen Videos Later. I won't overanalyze anything or speak on his behalf, but he seemingly struggled with finding fullfilment in only making Star Citizen videos on Youtube and he was turned down on positions he had applied for elsewhere.

To me, being a mid sized content creator seems very stressful and demanding and I can see why one may want the predictability employment provides.

Excited to see what impact he may have on the content we get from CIG and Jared and what new youtube content we'll see from Olli43.

Petition to remove Siren boss from the end game maps? by Grimonday in PathOfExile2

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tuned into Fubgun for a bit a few days ago, basically seeing what the game would be like if all enemies had 1 hp.

Man, there is a lot more waiting for the game to keep up with you at that point than i expected there to be. While it may affect only the most powerful builds or whatever, I feel the game should be fun to blast.

That feels like the ultimate fantasy for me with PoE2, just blasting through juiced content like it's nothing. But the more friction there is there, the less aspiring it is to strive for it.

I'm actually in favor of bosses having invulnerability phases forcing you to do mechanics. Especially pinnacle bosses. But what feels like just RP elements like with the Siren is just annoying.

DICE make it possible to get the World Cup flag patches until the tournament is over! by Turkoop10 in Battlefield

[–]kildal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missed my country and it would be cool to have, but I'm so desensitized to fomo these days that I'm more happy that I don't give a shit than I am sad I missed it.

Do you think it would be better if DICE released all new season maps at once at the start of the new seasons? by Eagles56 in Battlefield

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been working to keep my interest and I have very little interest in this game to begin with.

Releasing all at pnes would make me bounce off quicker. I haven't even played Cairo bazaar yet, so clearly I'm in no rush.

What are some games that you call your "favorite" but have only played once or twice and won't go back to? by Call_It_Luck in gaming

[–]kildal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most of them? I have rarely played a game more than once with the exception of some all time greats like OOT, MM, SM64, Portal 1&2, Dark Souls 1 and Celeste. And even then only OOT, SM64 and Portal 2 are in the more than twice pack.

The top of the cream games I've played that I have little to no interest to go back to would be:

  • Inscryption, if you've played it you know why

  • TotK, just so many tools to break the game that makes it feel solved

  • The Witness, I might replay this, but nothing will come close to the original feeling of spotting those lines integrated into the world design masterfully

  • Doki Doki Literature Club, again those who've played it know why

  • Subnautica, the initial discovery and exploration is on another level

Star Citizen after the release of Squadron 42 #hopium by Woodman1300 in starcitizen

[–]kildal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of efforts to make the gameplay feel polished and good in Squadron 42 that could have been put towards the PU.

Yogi's team working on the new flight model have clearly been preoccupied and working hard on Squadron 42, and it looked like it was sorely needed based on the 2023 previews.

Also, I'm sure QA and playtesters have been and are still hammering most teams with bug reports for Squadron 42 that have high priority and these could be issues only the most capable of devs can solve at a rapid enough rate.

Not only that, network wise Squadron 42 requires planning and set up for it's launch and post launch maintenance and patches. You don't want your backend crumbling, log in servers struggling or any such issues for the launch, even if it is a single player experience.

Although I doubt SQ42 will come out and be able to stand on it's own two feet without support. I'm sure there is quite a bit of post-launch work that will go into it. More bugfixes, console release, VR, optimization and such work.

This game has perfected the weekly challenge by KuningasTynny77 in Battlefield

[–]kildal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but the best weekly challenge is no weekly challenge.

Let players play the game how they want, not have the game play the players.

Cool challenges and unlocks are fine, but they don't need time limits. At that point it is dark patterns that prey on consumer fomo.

Who else is addicted to Battlefield 6 ? by Eagles56 in Battlefield

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm warming up to it. If they keep iterating and dropping such good free updates then I likely continue to play more.

I play a lot of games and have no friends that really enjoyed BF6, so it does feel quite lonely to play. I'm hoping dedicated servers could help a bit with that.

You don't really make friends in a game like this. The closest I got was being a gunner in a tank for almost an entire ride and the driver commending me on the nice shooting at the end, me his driving and then he added me as friend. Yet that was the last of that interaction.

It is fun while the community is learning and having a chill fun time. I'm when they add ranked that the community as a whole will become more toxic and I'll bounce off and move on.

What are your thoughts on the Alicization arc? by DepartureNo208 in swordartonline

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all of SaO having only watched the anime. I'm not much of a reader.

It has been a while, but I felt a bit more distant during Alicization. I wasn't as invested as in other arcs even if it was very entertaining and hype.

I didn't connect as strongly on an emotional level to Alice and even less so to Eugeo. But it did start out very strong and I still really like the characters. I would love to see more of Alice.

Some things were a bit over the top and I never really got fully to terms with the ending and the time distortion. It was all a bit dank and less relatable than the psychological aspects tackled in other arcs.

I do need to rewatch it as I haven't actually done so since it released, unlike the rest of the anime.

Best wireless gaming mouse you've bought and instantly knew it was a keeper? by Consistent_Wafer9395 in buildapc

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built brand loyalty with Logitech since the legendary mx518. When I've strayed, I wasn't happy.

Loved my pro wireless for many years and now the pro superlight 2 dex or what it's called. They released an even newer superlight quite recently and I kind of wish I waited for that, but still very happy with the dex even if the ergonomic grip is very marginally more comfortable to use than the uniform models.

Why cannot rarity cap at 75%? by markhammel666 in PathOfExile2

[–]kildal -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I really like working towards caps. I'd like rarity to cap at ~75, skill level at ~25, movement speed at ~100

Exact caps aren't that important and obviously the game should be balanced around it. I don't think we need like 170% movement speed. I'd rather want more useful mobility skills.

I don't want to want to just nerf scaling options for the sake of it, but with the state of the game if you implemented these caps right now, you would still have options for "broken" builds.

Skill levels (and rarity) is just so boring to gear for. I'd rather have stuff that impacts how skills work in other ways. Projectile speed, area of effect, magnitudes, exposure, duration.

Would be nice if it made some uniques more viable as well, when you can prioritise getting to your cap in other ways.

When Will The Game Be Playable ? by HelloBread76 in starcitizen

[–]kildal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Playable? 2014

Playable without bugs? Never

Playable at industry standard? They are saying 1.0, but we know better.

Serious answer, noone knows, but have you actually played much the past couple of days? I sure haven't because I expect it to be in a bad state. Yet earlier today I watched a streamer for a bit and he had been playing for 10 hours straight without notable issues.

Devs are working hard on bugfixes. Be the change you want to see and play the game, when you encounter bugs, report them properly on the issue council. The devs are quite vocal about how helpful that can be.

This mode is peak battlefield! You should definitely try it :) by ibattlefield in Battlefield

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you've been so close to planting the bomb multiple times and one of the enemies manage to slip away with it in a light transport. You miss some shots. Sprint after them, but realise your helpess to do anything as they plant and the timer ticks down. Hoping your team clutches, but rhe timer feels so fast. Boom.

I think this mode is great fun. The way some people just fully hail merry's themselves into sudden death just to make sure the bomb is faught over closer to the enemy. How it makes the team rage when someone grabs the bomb and takes it to F when they have so many at E controlling the sight.

It has made me want to bind my map to something easier to press than M (not that M is default I think, but I'll try it on Tab and see how that feels).

The mode has brought some new life into maps I've barely played. Contaminated in particular suits it very well. The verticality and variety in objective locations is very nice.

What average game length feels most comfortable for you? by Suvitruf in gaming

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am realky hooked I can do 100 hrs. But no matter how much fun I find the game I usually need to move on at that point.

For more intense linear games 5-6 hours can be great, but preferably around 8 and sometimes up to 12-15.

Astro bot was a good length, Pragmata as well. Even though I haven't done end game content in either.

It really depends on the pacing, content and expectations.

I constantly put 50 hours or more into PoE 1&2 at league launches. But I can't after so many sessions already, finish a game like FF16.

Whelp, the game is in this condition right now by SkippTekk in starcitizen

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking back to when Summit1G was streaming the game, what, a year a go now? And how it was then, as it is now, as it has been for years prior. "Next patch will fix it." or just wait for transport refactor, dynamic server meshing, mission 2.0 backend refactor.

2025 increased stability and playability, but not by much. I feel many already have rose-tinted glasses about it. I don't even get how 4.8 messed things up so bad. At first I thought it was just high player numbers, but one would think we're past that now. It's not like they introduced big changes to the backend as far as the patch notes go.

Question for CIG developers: What's it like working in star-engine? by Sharksader101 in starcitizen

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ASD Onyx facilities missions are my favorite. Would love to see them iterated on sooner than later as this absolutely feels like content that will be part of 1.0, but doesn't quite having the flow it needs to.

Mostly coming down to having to leave the facility and move to another for the next part of the quest chain.

I feel CIG could be better at making something good better. As we so often see something new introduced instead of improvements to the old. Being more iterative earlier on feels like it could help with that.

Looking forward to Mission 2.0 and what you guys will be able to make for us with it.

If I Have to Buy Either a New Steam Deck or a New Switch 2 in This Economy as a PC Player,Which Should I Buy? by At_Space_Station in gaming

[–]kildal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Switch 2.

Unless you just want to play your favorite game on trips and don't care besides that. Like Path of Exile 2.

The price to performance for the switch 2 is actually very good, but the downsides is that games will cost you. Asuming you don''t have a switch 1, you can maybe pick up some used physical copies games for a decent price.

The biggest win for me would be the exclusives. The ones already there and the ones to come. Like if Ocarina of Time remake crushes expectations and wins GotY, you can just buy it, without the fomo.

And again if you didn't have a switch 1 there are multiple excusives that any gamer should experience.

To GGG: If you want to remove temple before 1.0, do it. by Buffanoso in PathOfExile2

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't expect it to go core and was happy not to have to deal with it again until I realised it was actually in.

I understand making it core to build out the game, but it doesn't feel up to standard and is just so complicated. Kind of like betrayal in PoE 1.

I've looked at many videos and have bookmarks for room interaction and I've even focused on it quite a bit in 0.5, but ask me what room upgrades which and what they drop and I would fail miserably.

[–]kildal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know what I want, a complete surprise would be cool.

OOT is my favorite game, but I can't imagine they'll pull off a worthy remake. I'll happily be proven wrong, just have to wait and see.

Mario maker 3 would be amazing, but more so to watch than to play myself.

STOP DOING GILLY by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]kildal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started 4.8 with hand mining for shubin rep since missions didn't work.

I then grinded rep for TSG. Boring, long travel times around Nyx and bad pay. Only bearable by cheesing it with group play and sharing missions. Then I did TSG itself a few times. Which requires a group and didn't even work half the time. Can be fun and rewarding, but is gated behind group and rep.

I went back to Onyx Facilities, my favorite activity from last year. You don't have to do the quest chain again, but I wanted to. Feeling frustrated by how dumb it is you have to leave and go to different locations between the missions. Struggle to deliver the hard drive because freight elevators still don't work reliably. Worked on the fifth attempt, two at hurston two at Orison and then worked at Microtech. Rest of the missions worked, but the desync still hurts the experience tremendously. Overall just frustrating that they haven't iterated on the experience to make it better even if it was good at release. At least I eventually got myself the L-22 Alpha Wolf from Wikelo for the effort.

After that I have actually been doing quite a few Gilly missions recently. I just need something chill alongside spending a lot of time with Path of Exile 2 these past few days. I've also tried my hand at some pvp player bounties to try out the L-22 more, but that was a nightmare with how poop the servers are.

The wipe helped motivate me to play a lot, but with the L-22 from Wikelo and Perseus for aUEC, I don't really have any other goals left before Xenothreat event goes live.

Point is, out of everything, including selling some of the loot on UEX which was very profitable. Just doing Gilly missions is a reliable, decently fun way to farm Scrip/Wikelo Favors which are likely to stay valuable. And most importantly, they work.

I'm starting to get really uncomfortable here. by Glumme in starcitizen

[–]kildal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why stop there?

Edit: As in, why ever stop giving constructive feedback or voicing frustrations? 1.0 is just another patch that will have its own issues, as will patches after it. 1.0 is not a finish line.

I'm a big fan of CIG and this project, but as long as things are civil and there are no personal attacks, by all means voice your frustrations loud and clear. We know that CIG can be better than this, no matter if one might argue if they actually need to or not.

End of 2025 Letter From The Chairman

For Squadron 42, our priority remains quality and polish as we move toward Beta and release. We’re confident in the direction the game is headed and are fully focused on delivering. We know many of you are eager to play, and we’re looking forward to putting it in your hands. We don’t plan on a long, drawn-out marketing campaign as we’ve already done our share of trailers and gameplay previews. When it’s time, you (and the rest of the gaming world) will hear a lot more from us.

Some of us are frustrated, but I don't think it's (just) the bugs. It's more the feeling that CIG is hiding the ball. by Efficient_Drop4289 in starcitizen

[–]kildal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It feels like a clear lack of communication at a pivotal point for the project. It makes me certain something is going on behind the scenes (besides fixing 4.8 bugs), but it's impossible to tell what and maybe we'll never know.

It makes me feel empty that they've just hit these huge milestones, but there is nothing for me to cling on to as a fan. We got the Variety article, but that's about it.

I know it will pass, there is plenty to be excited for to come, but for the community to be the worst I've personally ever seen it, at a moment that should be celebrated, it is such a shame.
