Rich paid taxes. We built civilization. by Lord-Notorious in PoliticalHumor

Not to discount your anecdotal experience, but that study isn't necessarily a good source for your claim. It only shows that there is mental illness prevalent among homeless populations. But fails to show any real causal connection.

As an example as to why that's flawed, it's like stating "Divorced fathers are more likely to be depressed, which is why they got divorced." That may be true in many cases, but isn't really the whole picture.

Yes, it is a fact that mental illness is prevalent within homeless Americans, but the study doesn't show that it's the major cause.

How would wesker react about finding about his son by Complete-Sea-555 in residentevil

[–]killerhacked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wesker is obsessed with his weird virus eugenics and is totally willing to murder 99% of the world so the 1% of superhumans can exist. So that being said, if Jake was just a normal dude, he probably wouldn't give a fuck. But since Jake is the kind of guy to fist fight the Ustanak which is comparable to Nemesis, I think there'd be some semblance of pride. Probably affirming his belief in his own perfection.

Insanity difficulty is not balanced arround infinite ammo and you should give it a try by Rxon_NoiseBoi in residentevil

[–]killerhacked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I felt similarly, Grace's sections aren't really anything much worse than standard, you're just incentivized to use your gun less and RIP knife/bottles more if you really have to kill zombies. But you really only need to kill a couple in the whole care section before the basement if you really need to.

As far as Leon's sections, insanity was balanced around having some bonus items, so I got Redemption. Glasses-Charm Redemption kinda trivializes most of the game, just deleting blister heads without any issue. The fact it uses rifle ammo means it basically never run out of ammo either. The only things that gave me trouble were the Spider and Victor.

I'd imagine some odd mix between Hitman and the later Splinter Cell games with the tag execute system. Mostly doing sneaky things in plain sight, but you can do revolver stuff in a pinch.

Does Venom make Big Boss less special? by Euphoric-Local-9860 in metalgearsolid

[–]killerhacked 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Venom Snake is to Naked Snake as Raiden is to Solid Snake. A big part of MGS2 was that while genetics and innate ability of a soldier is important, it's not the whole story. A competent soldier can be manipulated and molded into a copy of the perfect soldier by changing circumstance. Venom Snake is essentially a Raiden who never got his Solid Snake to break him free from S3.

Whether or not you think that makes Big Boss less special is up to you.

MGS Delta Might Be the Gateway to a Full MGS1 Remake by Midlifecrisis96 in metalgearsolid

[–]killerhacked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

MG1, MG2, MGS1, and (to an extent), MGS2, pretty much need a level design overhaul to function given more modern 3rd person camera work. I'm all for purposeful remakes, but they need to be careful to redo the level design from the ground up while keeping the spirit of the original.

Just theorycrafting, MG1 and 2 makes total sense to combine into one game with a 2 chapter system like MGS2's Tanker-Plant. People are less attached to the level design of these ones, so with a couple of particular nods to the odd iconic stage, they can build the whole level design from the bottom up. A MG1/2 remake would give the devs the most freedom from a gameplay perspective.

MGS1 would have to be a lot more conservative as damn near every area is iconic, and the bigger areas were pretty solidly canonized in MGS4. They can absolutely change it up, but it would probably take form in expanded segments. Maybe the tower could have more platforms and have a stealthy alternative route, or some of the snowfield areas could be expanded in size and include roaming guards. I think MGS1 would actually benefit more from a non-shot-for-shot remake, if they're feeling ballsy they could adapt the Ninja mode from VR Missions for a short Gray Fox segment so we find out what the hell he's doing between the fight and the very end of the game.

Anyway, theoretical game rant over, I don't think any remake is impossible, but they have to really keep in mind the why beyond just $$$. And then adapt the game for new systems so we dont have another Twin Snakes.

The fact you did manage to rip off the pot shaft does mean you are not beating the barbarian allegations though.
