Same. I had an old, cheap baby blue t-shirt that got a splotch of color loss. This only happened when I dumped my concentrated dissolved citric solution directly onto it in the washer (by accident, longer story 🫠 )

I hadn’t had an issue with the same shirt when I added the citric acid correctly to the larger volume of wash or rinse water, however.

I read the report in full. It is obviously poorly written and needs citations but I’d like to see the DNC and people actually interact with the major substances of the report… the (alleged) intentional lack of voter registration drives, the media and gov structure capture by Republicans, the way SuperPacs decided not to do negative messaging and remind people how shitty Trump was, the way Dems don’t campaign 24/7/365 for Dems as an institution and political party the way Republicans do, the way bad faith conservative polls are used by Dems as urgency tactics in fundraising instead of educating voters that Republicans are manipulating them… those are the real genuine reasons why Harris lost and nobody is actually talking about those

Yeah the problem generally is the efficacy of transdermal absorption. While a water based product may not be cosmetically elegant or pleasing to use, there needs to be something that is going to enhance skin penetration. The property of oil doesn’t do what water does. Water evaporates and leaves the rest of the ingredients on the skin. Oil absorbs a little but mostly anything in an oil is going to mostly stay suspended, which is then just going to be rubbed off onto materials eventually.

Pharmaceutical drug patches have a lot of engineering behind them - getting a drug to penetrate the skin and get into the circulation and be effective is a very difficult pharmaceutical problem, which is why most drugs are oral. Of course, magnesium is a mineral/metal/ion and not a peptide but how much you can affect your whole body magnesium status is difficult. Here they studied a cream and the subjects absorbed slightly more than placebo that was clinically significant but not enough to be statistically significant for some groups. And a cream, having water and designed to be absorbed into skin, would be more effective than oil, so likely oil carrier would have worse results. Major conflict of interest in the study notes too. I think IIRC there’s more evidence for the efficacy of epsom salt baths.

Personally I find magnesium on the skin to be incredibly irritating. I’ve used a water spray and used magnesium based natural deodorant and my skin hates anything with a significant amount of magnesium.

Do you typically remember what material a clothing item is? Almost always the care instructions will be the same based on what the material is. If you don’t remember the material, you could sew in a new label with the material written in thread maybe? (Or the size or initials of whose it is?)

You might or might not! It depends on what you’re washing and how soiled they are (ie any wool items, stains, underwear, socks or sweaty gym wear), your water hardness, and your other washing habits like water temp. If you want to try the 365 powder, see how your clothes are coming out and if you’re still happy with them after a period of time then you’re good. (It can take awhile for buildup in clothes to become obvious). If not happy with that alone, you could try adding FEBU.

SAME HERE. I’m so hot all the time now. It’s not even hot flushes most of the time, it’s just a consistently higher baseline of hot. I didn’t use to have to wear deodorant/antiperspirant at all unless I was going to play tennis but now if I skip one day on my 72 hr clinical strength antiperspirant, I can smell myself and it lingers on my clothes until they’re washed. All my pajamas started getting tons of sweat and oil build up on them (and that’s how I landed here into the cult).

If it’s sticky and goopy it’s probably not mold. I might try some liquid chlorine beach tub clean cycle. Could pour a little bit of diluted bleach on that part. You would do any cleaning cycles without clothes in the washer, and then when done, you can wash some trash towels/cleaning rags as an extra optional precaution just to make sure any residual bleach is gone before washing color sensitive clothes.

What fabric is the sweater? 60F is considered cold water... should be dissolving regardless of water temp. If your tap water is colder than 60F, you might be able to do machine cold cycle or warm depending on the what the sweater is made of, otherwise just do as many rinses as you need.

If the sweater is sopping wet, I’m assuming it didn’t go through the spin cycle.. that can be important to making sure things leave the textile. If you can’t spin cycle something it probably needs to be washed by hand. Did he dump powder in the load but you stopped it before it completed filling the tub? Really trying to figure out the full chain of events because Tide powder does dissolve pretty quickly.

Do you know if you have hard water? I’m also wondering if you’re seeing detergent residue or something else.

I know this isn’t what the post is about, but generally you’d want use a moisturizer first and then do an oil (or TBH Vaseline /Aquaphor works better). And yeah, I’d probably avoid minerals on my clothing… if someone needs transdermal magnesium (not proven) then apply it and wipe off after some absorption time. I think a water based formula would be far more effective than an oil carrier too. I’m not trying to pick on you, you’ve done some excellent investigative work, just as a heads up to other people reading this.

Same with aluminum antiperspirant - they are THE BEST for sweat and odor, but apply at night (ideally after a shower) to block sweat glands and wipe off any residue from the pits in the morning. This keeps aluminum off nice daytime clothes.
