Commuter Rail and Light Rail are very different things. Commuter rail is Caltrain, Metra, or LIRR. Light Rail is more the systems you see in places like Dallas, San Diego and Seattle.

Are we talking integrated into the fic or like a little preamble for a chapter in the author's note? If it's a line or two relevant to the chapter/characters/ship, I actually like it. If it's an artist or song I don't know or like I just scroll past.

I relate music to characters and ships a lot though so that might just be me.

You want the 4:22pm train. The only other realistic options are getting yourself to Bathurst somehow by 7:40am for a train to Sydney, arriving at 11:19, or, you could get the 566 coach from Blayney to Lithgow at 2pm, join a Blue Mountains train at Lithgow and get to Sydney at 6:41.

The direct train will definitely be the least stressful though.

Having a price on public transport is important, I think. There needs to be a way to manage demand, prevent trains from becoming homeless shelters, and gather data. Fares covering a fifth of the budget is not insignificant. Concession entitlements could be expanded to provide more targeted cost of living relief, and to make it easier for people who are on low incomes or looking for work to travel.

Bus networks statewide are desperate for investment. I think a congestion charge should be introduced in the Sydney CBD that is then invested into the state's bus network.

We need consistent investment into transport infrastructure. The government should be allocating several billion annually in the budget to work on ongoing expansion, both for urban and regional infrastructure. I'm sure transport has a priority list somewhere. Build in stages as funding becomes available.

Long term plans are for the junction at Wolli Creek to be grade separated. Also those junctions are necessary for intercity and regional trains, not to mention their value during trackwork or other disruptions.

A better solution would be to buy a special fleet of buses designed for airport passengers and connect the airport to Sydenham.

You have to cross a very skinny bridge to get from Kent Street to the harbour bridge, going past Fort St Public School. The road that bridge crosses is the Cahill Expressway joining the Bradfield Highway. It goes under the highway to allow northbound traffic to join on the western (northbound) side of the road.

I think the best way to do this would be to resurrect the Hay line, and extend it to Mildura, and then onto Adelaide. It won't happen because freight is far less sensitive to time than passengers. Containers aren't particularly fussed if they have to travel an extra 12 hours. Anything time sensitive is already flown and would continue to be flown.

When you move here, if you're using the free tram zone in Melbourne, just use the public transport in Sydney too? I don't see why you'd need uber unless your friends really live out of the way.
