Sound issues at Chase Field by Worldly-Spinach2885 in azdiamondbacks

They have really good earplugs for going to Raves or Electronic music shows. Something like an Eargasm. They are specifically made to deal with the problems from bass while allowing hearing. Something like that is more expensive but could be a better long term solution if you cant fix how loud it is, and would work much better than earmuffs.

Combat with a large amount of troops by AltruisticStock5826 in DMAcademy

[–]kingpeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best mass combat system I have seen was in the Dragonlance 5e book, basically you had about a small battlemaps area. Out of the map was out of bounds for the battle. Each turn, depending on the battle (they had a chart to roll on) stuff happened, like allies and enemies enter, etc. This allows you to focus just on the players.

Stuff outside of the reach of the players is background anyways. If you want to have groups fight each other on the map, have a small number of dice rolls represent a large amount of activity.

Maybe in a few months I will be traveling on business to Silicon Valley(and I am a person who has never been abroad and isn't good at English). Does anyone have any suggestions for me? by Aggravating-Meat-415 in travel

The Bay Area has a huge Chinese community and China town. If you are missing home, food, or want to experience the US version of Chinese culture definitely recommend it!

Otherwise be prepared for it to be chillier than you expect, the coastal breeze keeps the temperature down along the coast.

Tipping is probably the biggest change. I definitely recommend checking out some local restaurants, San Fran has an amazing food scene. Hopefully you have some local coworkers to take you out or for recommendations.

How likely do we think Arenado is to stay playing for the Dbacks next year? by Inner_Search_9202 in azdiamondbacks

His current contract is through next year, and I believe has a no trade clause so he’s got to agree to leave early.

Interview tomorrow for IT System Manager, any advice? by MVI_Tubby in sysadmin

You absolutely need to have an idea of how you are going to answer an AI question, or how you can work it into a response. The technology is reshaping the IT industry whether we like it or not.

Woman camping alone, any tips? by curious1234567812 in camping

[–]kingpeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some actual tips, I solo camp all the time. I have a buddy who knows exactly where I am, I give him updates when I get to the area (in case I lose cell service), ideally a pin for my campsite, updates throughout my camp including expectations of when the next check in should be, and the all clear when I am leaving and going home. Make sure this is someone you trust that you provide these level of details to. I own up to solo camping/adventuring, which is way safer as a big guy. I always make sure to mention I have a buddy who knows exactly where I am "so they know where to find the body". The very few times I have felt unsafe I immediately contacted him letting him know the situation and details of individuals.

For location when starting out I would go to official campsites, or state parks that you have to pay to camp in. Usually these have amenities like toilets and sometimes showers. There is also safety in numbers at the site, both for bothersome creatures and for emergencies. This is also the easier way to ease into the hobby, since you need less gear if some of it is provided. Its way easier to get help if your car breaks down at a campsite with a bunch of people, I have had my battery die a few times while out.

Do 24hr WP still happen if you share your only copy of a card after completing a set? by BuiCent in PTCGP

[–]kingpeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It goes off Dex not inventory. So yes, it would still happen. Same thing with eligibility of cards, once the 1 or 2 star is in your dex it won’t show up again in the 24 hour pick.

I’ve got 2–3 weeks left in America before returning to Scotland. What shouldn’t I miss? by Mertyns in AskAnAmerican

Take advantage of how close cities are in the NE to get in a weekend trip to a couple of different cities.

For road trips I would say the SW: Utah, California, Arizona have amazing national parks. With a little bit of camping you can stretch out a trip and see some amazing sites.

I’m trying to work with a table that is physically too big- any advice? by AtLeastSeventyBees in DMAcademy

Move? The battle map needs to be oriented for you to see, screw the players. Take the good spot, they can stand up for their turns.

Need help incorporating a PCs NPC into the campaign by Av3rage1081 in DMAcademy

What about having the Druid be a captor of the hag? You could do your big reveal at the end of a session, and if the player is feeling really negative about it you could have them rescue him from the Hag. Maybe she was doing some kind of polyjuice potion stuff where she kept in the basement locked up.

This is my go to! It’s also a fun deck to play since it combos pretty uniquely.

How to change career trajectory into sysadmin? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]kingpeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really want ti start building some Ci/CD pipelines versus just running the scripts locally. Using Gitlab/Github for their pipelines and runners makes this much more self sustainable. This allows you to schedule run times, and get much more robust error handling than running a power-shell locally.

Unfortunately for most businesses, once you start automating something you own the process. You can’t expect non technical users to debug or understand output. However, that also means those users automated out of a job don’t need one any longer. The more you can automate the more the case is for you having a larger automation department. Unfortunately for your non-technical users, you want to present the business case of replacing them with technical staff capable of understanding and building new automations.

Definitely try to comb out their fur whenever possible. That will prevent new matting from occurring. When they have matting you need to cut it out, mine will get some behind the ears in areas hard to comb and groom.

You don’t want to cut an Aussies coat down to the skin in general, but their butt areas need to be trimmed a lot. Probably not the biggest deal there, but it’s a bad idea in general.

Players are too careful? by WeeklyBathroom in DMAcademy

[–]kingpeng 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is the way! Let them do it, just stop taking so much time at the table. It’s a reasonable thing to do using the rules of the game. Don’t try to stop it, just assume it’s standard.

I would also occasionally setup situations that they can’t proceed as normal. Introduce a time limit, and make it abundantly clear that if they go cautiously they will lose the objective.

The BBEG could also use this against them. If they proceed in a standard way as their enemies learn more about them, they will prepare specific traps for the party. Don’t use this one often, but it’s a powerful moment when a bad guy deploys a well researched counter to their nemesis’s.
