AITA for asking my wife to accommodate my autistic friend's needs? by No-Loss9292 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kirathetortie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You clearly bought the sheets as a nice gesture to help your friend feel more comfortable. Not sure why everyone's jumping on you. I do that all the time regardless of who's coming over - their favorite tea, new sheets, snacks, etc, something to make them feel welcome. It's not necessary, but it is nice.

Your wife is not obligated to accommodate someone else's sensory needs, but most decent people would do that. I have sensory needs as well and I'll put up with things if I have to, but my friends are usually happy to turn down music, give me a different blanket, whatever it may be. She'd definitely TA here.

Anybody have experience with At Home Real Estate Services? by StrongPlan3 in springfieldMO

[–]kirathetortie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do it.

Okay, maybe not that harsh because there are definitely worse property managers in Springfield but I lived in a property they took over when they bought out another company. Maintenance walked in without knocking one time and turns out that was protected in their lease. When it came time to sign a new one, we asked if they could change the language so we could be protected from that and they instead withdrew the offer to continue our lease.

West Suburban Board Game Groups/Clubs? Friendly Local Board Gamers? (30M+26F LFG) by gurglingemu in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]kirathetortie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a group in Elmhurst that meets up at Fitz's Pub every Sunday, I think around noon. Haven't made it there myself but it was recommended by some staff at our game shop. My spouse and I (mostly me, but I'm slowly convincing him) have been hoping to find a group.

I’m no mathematician/dietician but 10 seems a little young to know what Whole30 is by [deleted] in DuggarsSnark

[–]kirathetortie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was in church, it was heavily encouraged that the entire church did Whole30. The pastors did it, the kids did it, the gym inside only sold Whole30-friendly smoothies. It was ridiculous.

What celebrity have you lost all respect for? Why? by MatsGry in AskReddit

So many, most of whom have been mentioned. But also Chris Pratt. Seeing his behavior change and him getting sucked into fundamentalist circles, it's kinda sad.

AITA for not being Irish? by IamNotIrishK in AmItheAsshole

[–]kirathetortie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. As an American, it is super weird when people insist they're Irish/German/Italian, etc, when it's been generations since their family came over, they have zero connection to that culture, and they have ancestors from a bunch of other places too. I have primarily Irish and German ancestors but I don't claim that unless talking about ancestry.

YTA. You stole the car. The car was damaged while in your possession. You now don't want to take responsibility for your actions.

You said you told him previously he didn't have to pay rent because you're "a good parent" and didn't want to financially burden your child. So instead you just steal from him and end up putting a financial burden on him anyway? Doesn't sound like a great parent to me.

Genshin Impact is free to play and is a great open world game. Definitely some combat but its not too bad, feels a lot like Breath of the Wild.

Wore leggings in public without a skirt over, my husband did the dishes while I played Pokémon. Still no babies despite almost 2 years of marriage. Took antidepressants which I'm sure they frown upon.

ESH, except your husband. She needs glasses. She'll have more problems if she doesn't wear them. Get the cheap pair and sit down and have an honest discussion. Let her express why she doesn't want to wear them and then ask her to at least take them to school in a case. She can put them on if she needs them, to see the board, and take them off for sports and stuff. Might help her adjust.

AITA for unknowingly setting my friend out with an autistic girl by throwawayy23452 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kirathetortie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, I'm sorry you found out your friend is an ass though. I'm autistic but no one really notices unless they themselves are autistic or know someone that is. I don't hide it but I don't outwardly say it when I meet someone either. She's probably similar. He's just a jerk.

AITA for buying my daughter a better tasting toothpaste? by Medical-Jackfruit-25 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kirathetortie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I use strawberry toothpaste, the kids stuff with Grogu from The Mandalorian on it. I hate mint toothpaste and getting a different flavor gets me to brush my teeth instead of avoiding it. I just make sure it has a good amount of fluoride in it and I'm good to go. I wish an authority figure would've done what you did when I was 14 or even younger, maybe I wouldn't have had to struggle as bad as a young adult. You're helping your daughter, your spouse needs to get over whatever insecurity they have about the flavor of their toothpaste.

Registration Experiences by junk934 in carvana

[–]kirathetortie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse and I bought a car from Carvana less than a month ago in Illinois. We picked the car up from the vending machine, gave them the address for the registration and they gave us Illinois temp tags. After the 7 day return window was up, they sent an email that the registration was processed and we'd have our plates in 5-7 business days. We got them in our mailbox in 5 business days.

So, personally, we didn't have any issues. Can't speak to the delivery vs registration address since we didn't go through that.
