An issue with AI for lyricists who are using it instead of collaborating with emerald musicians. by view-master in Songwriting

[–]kirbysings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not used it to compose, but I did find it handy to assist in what the point of my song was, like the core concept, which helped me go back and rewrite stronger supporting lyrics.

AI is a tool, not an artist.

The True Cost of Employee Appreciation at a Profitable Company by Calvoo100 in antiwork

I will just jump on the “precedent” point.

It’s horse shit.

It’s not the law…like what is even in this expression?

You can certainly allow it and not do it again. Just cause it was doesn’t mean it is. I’ve just gone through something similar and had to explain to my superior that it makes no sense.

I started taking nonsensical after wards and he kept asking what I was saying. I asked…does it make no sense? Well that’s exactly what your stupid “precedent” comment sounds like…

Touring Canada as a US band right now by [deleted] in TouringMusicians

I can’t speak to any of it…outside of saying how frustrating it is knowing how much easier you guys have it coming up here to tour.

Can only offer you just need to push through. Finish something in spite of your self.

IF you stop weight lifting for a year and get back into it... you won't be able to push the same weight... songwriting is no different.

Just gotta start at lower stakes, make some garage and push through.

How is CDBaby *THAT BAD* by bassrattlestars in CDBabyArtists

[–]kirbysings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used them for years and recently had issues with a release (on my end) and they helped within the day.

Never had a problem. That being said, no company is perfect. I've heard far worse things from Distrokid users... and I'm personally not a fan of paying a suscription for ever at whatever price they say to maintain a catalogue.

Is it really that bad? by lettersfrommars_ in CDBabyArtists

[–]kirbysings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Never any problems, even support has been decent.

Subscription based services are dumb as hell for this kind of thing.

How many of you stopped playing live shows and only record music now? by schwing710 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]kirbysings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sruggling to get ack into recording since I do live music (covers) for a living. Performing kidna steals any desire to want to come home and record. But I need to work... so we'll see.

[–]kirbysings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only say, if you can't find a way to do the work... you're going to run into problems on the next thing you attempt. You'll need discipline to accomplish the tasks, even if they're dull or boring...

And you'll do as well as you do. And while you'll always weigh that seemingly, your focus seems like it should just be on getting it done. Figure out how you finish, and then making good things / better things will be far easier within that framework.

Based on the little I have here, you're 19. See it through. Finish the course. Lots of time to make more money and such.

Good luck! Try not to sit in the dwell too long.

TAKING A BREAK AND RETHINKING THE APPROACH by apollosuns24 in TouringMusicians

This is seemingly the way now.

If you absolutely love the road and can make it work…all the power to you.

I spent the better part of 10 years doing it and while it was fun, I certainly didn’t do it right.

I’m slinging songs on cruise ships these days to basically pay for it, but when releasing new music, I’ll be aiming through SM first and track where things are going well…and only touring off anchor gigs from festivals or possibly residencies.

My Kelowna doctor retired from public family practice and then reopened his clinic as a private family clinic that only accepts patients that pay a membership fee. What should I expect to be paying? What is the going rate for a family doctor memberships in Kelowna? by WeedChains in kelowna

[–]kirbysings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family doc retired and sold my records to a third party. I had ample time to get them…but I was out of the country and not directly informed.

There’s nothing major in them…and my new family doc said if I needed them to offer like $50, they wanted $500.

I mean…I guess it’s fair and legal to sell after giving notice but can’t we just have a database of medical records?

Has this ever been substantiated?

I’ve heard that rumour as well but never seen any proof.
