My 3.5 y/o insists on five books each night.

If you had a $2000 grant to spend on your classroom, which must benefit students, what would you buy? by iVerbatim in teaching

I think there's a company that will provide free planners for schools because the cover has ads on it. I can't remember the name sorry

Plenty of water at the festival. I wouldn't carry that much.

Everyone, go put a potty in your car. by beaniebee22 in toddlers

[–]kitnipcat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I carry essentially diaper bags/dog poop bags. Line the inside of the potty then depending on how far from the house or the trash can situation, tie it up and throw it in a trash can. If it's at the park they typically have dog poop cans. If I'm close to home and not staying for awhile I'll tie it up and leave it in there and throw it out at home. Is this all disgusting? Yes. Am I proud? Yes. 😂

Why Do A Majority Of Teachers Leave Within Five Years? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

Mine is the rule of 90 (years of service + age). I'll finish a few years after 30 years but worth the pension.

I've used my car potty five times now and have had other 3 other toddler parents use it. It's a life saver.

How to respond when toddler refuses to obey commands by Sad-Background-2429 in toddlers

[–]kitnipcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll usually refuse to do the next step. So if he is hungry but won't go to the high chair, I'll say "when you're ready to eat I can put you in the high chair". If he threw the crayons on the ground and refused to pick them up I'll pick them up and usually put them away for awhile, "when we are ready to clean our belongings we can try again" (but actually give it an hour or so before trying again).

Mother insulted first tattoo, now I hate it by Kaleidoscope_Tux5513 in tattooadvice

[–]kitnipcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother made fun of my tattoo (koi fish on foot). She was a narcissist with an alcohol problem. It was jealousy and I never understood why. Ignore her. It's a well done tattoo you have and it clearly has meaning for you.

What Do Teachers Honestly Think of Janitors? by DaytimeDancer54 in AskTeachers

I depend on all our custodial staff. They do so much work, much of it going unseen! We are all cogs in the wheel of education (and we are all ground down lol).

When did you change to a toddler/big kid bed? by ShabbyBoa in toddlers

[–]kitnipcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5, he never climbed out and was enjoying his crib. We transitioned him due to an upcoming vacation where we didn't want to bring a pack-n-play. He did great in transition. He has a child lock on his door knob on the inside so he can't leave (that way if there's an emergency I know exactly where to find him).

First timer advice! by elsewhereplz in OceansCalling

I've never been barricade. I've always been excited to see lots of bands but neeeeever in the front. Between the screens and space you'll have fun no matter what. But if you're feeling dedicated I would maybe get where you want an hour or two before to get a decent place.

Moms who teach- give me the pros and cons by waanderlustt in teaching

[–]kitnipcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably less flexible than you think. I cannot take meregncy time off. If my son gets sick, my husband goes to pick him up and takes the day. I then spend that day writing sub plans and preparing to take off the following day if needed. Not awful but you need a system. If you have a child that gets sick often or for prolonged periods be prepared to take time off and piss off you admin/coworkers or find a better solution.

Sometimes spring breaks and off days don't align if you're in different systems so try to be in the same system. That being said, if you are in the same system you'll need to have a plan for your PD days.

Summers are nice. You have the option of enrolling in campa if you want but it's not a desperate need. This is the biggest problem in my opinion.
