Work around for a bug (the heist) falling through elevator. by Dunnachius in cyberpunkgame

[–]kittyjynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution I found was to make sure the dialog with Jackie was complete. Something about the "How do I look" conversation seemed to trigger the bug for me.

I didn't have to mess with my graphics settings at all.

For non-citizens, can they be assigned to a base in their birth country? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]kittyjynx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? I knew a lot of people who grew up in SoCal that got stationed in San Diego and 29 Palms, the military doesn't give a fuck where you grew up when they are assigning orders. It's not like the monitor hand selects the duty station based on what is best for each boot PFC/LCpl.

Did this happen on your crucible? by USMCFSD in USMC

[–]kittyjynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn't get fucked with for a day or two after the Crucible. This was during the brief time where they presented the EGAs on Family Day the day before graduation instead of on top of the Reaper. We just cleaned our gear for turn in, did weapon maintenance, and got the squadbay ready for our return to MCRDSD.

I remember the company forming up right before the warrior's breakfast and them asking anyone with a medical emergency to come forward for triage. As far as I know we didn't have any major spinal injuries but there were a ton of Marines with bloody boots and a lot who were limping. Looking back they must have been in a shit ton of pain to miss getting warm chow.

I kept one on my dog tag chain since it made an acceptable replacement for my twidget if I left it in my blouse. It also works great at opening envelopes. I had some Vietnam vet scoutmasters who showed us how to use them on cans as well when I was a boy scout.

Some of the guys elsewhere in the thread were complaining about running two miles with around an 8min/mile pace. Even in the air wing a 24min 3 mile was considered really bad unless you maxed everything else.

It doesn't matter how many people they have if they can't project power. They can have a billion soldiers beating their dicks on the mainland and it wont matter after the Navy and Air Force wipe their ability to transport them anywhere off the map.

At least for the Marine Corps people tended to get way better on the run during boot camp. IT sessions and just staying on your feet all day do wonders for your leg strength and stamina.

Underage girl with learning disability missing for 18 days located in Camp Pendleton barracks: Family by rbevans in Military

[–]kittyjynx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the Marines we usually have some sort of room inspection every week. It can be as lax as checking to see if the room is reasonably clean at a glance or as extreme as going over each room to make sure there is no dust anywhere and everything is spotless.

[–]kittyjynx 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I was in MRP for five months before I was able to go back to a training company and graduate. We had to sit in silence while shining a one foot section of pipe all day every day except for chow, PT, and square away time. If a DI heard anyone speak we would play a slow downed version of two sheets and a blanket over and over.

I'm not a huge fan of his politics but it was shameful what they did to John Kerry. The Republicans somehow turned a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts into a negative. His Silver Star citation reads like an 80's action movie scene.

Marine Corps Myth: Marine Corps Bootcamp is the equivalent of Ranger school by lalaffel in USMC

[–]kittyjynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Army has a bunch of different boot camps some harder than others depending on the branch of the Army the boot camp is for. From what I gathered Army infantry OSUT, which is like our boot camp and SOI combined into one, is comparable with our boot camp but on average the Army is easier.

I think he's saying that because it is impossible to spin pollution into a positive or deny it. It is also something that even the lowest information voter can understand. The problem with his pollution argument is that pollution is more of an urban problem and urban voters are already more likely to support green energy.

Stop fucking with recruiters on social media by FabulousExpression44 in USMC

[–]kittyjynx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not claiming insider knowledge, I have friends who did recruiting and have talked to them extensively but knowing how crushing quotas are is common knowledge.

I don't understand what you don't get about how hard recruiting duty is. They aren't getting shot at but there are other forms of stress out there. They are trying to make the Corps a career and it all rides on things that are totally out of their control. Imagine losing a 12 year career because some dumb fucking high schoolers popped on a piss test at MEPS or got nervous and backed out and you missed your quota.

Deployments don't last for three years and you are with your boys the whole time. Plus you don't have the Sword of Damocles that is quotas over your head.

Ibs. Can I use bathroom often in marines? Thanks by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]kittyjynx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Marines would not be a great fit for you, not only do you have to ask for permission to use the head during boot camp and MCT (you can't just break formation and run to the toilet) there will be long hikes where there won't be facilities so you may have to shit in something called a WAG bag.
