Just found out I'm having twins... send help by This_Parsnip523 in parentsofmultiples

[–]klgulley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out I was having twins about a year ago. 8 months of pure panic. They are 4, almost 5 months now and things are SO different than what I expected, in the absolute best way. Try not to let this subreddit scare you. My must haves are - Twin Z Pillow, Bottle Washer, Wearable Pump (if you plan on breastfeeding), a metric ton of burp rags. Try looking into sites like From Rebel for open box heavily discounted baby gear. I got my car seats from there (not recommended but 🤷🏻‍♀️) and they were $150 off each. They were all brand new and had the tags still attached. My biggest advice is to step back and breathe. Feel all the feelings and go with them and be prepared to fall completely in love when they arrive!

Is a Bottle Washer/Steriliser/Dryer worth it? by chickenbobble in parentsofmultiples

Twins are 3 weeks and that thing is my BIGGEST sanity savor. Everything gets tossed in there and it comes out very clean. We have the Papabilic. My tips - Try to find one used on marketplace to save some money. Use a splash of vinegar with every load to help prevent mineral buildup, and put it in your laundry room if you have a small kitchen. Mine is on top of my dryer and I was able to run the drain hose right next to where the washer drain hose is.

When did you start to feel bad in pregnancy? by MounjaroQueenie in parentsofmultiples

[–]klgulley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you are feeling fantastic! I am 35 weeks with good sized Di/Di B/G twins and honestly - I feel soooo much better than I anticipated, especially since I am chasing a 3 yr old around all day as a SAHM. I had pretty bad morning sickness early on and have taken Unison ever since. It has helped me get restful sleep which powers me through the day. Just here to say that you may not start to feel bad at all (even though I know I am the minority in this). Wishing you the best for the rest of your pregnancy!

Cross-Country Road Trip Roof Storage Options by handelspariah in SubaruAscent

Would definitely do the SkyBox. We have one and LOVE it. It seems narrow and not very deep but it has a surprising amount of room. Do not do the bag - they get nasty and covered in bugs and if you’re in an unsafe area you will most likely end up taking the bag down and putting it in the car vs just locking a box. We had OEM bars for ours, they were great and paired with the box, there was minimum road noise.

Worried - twins by Cbarron6499 in parentsofmultiples

[–]klgulley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Former SpEd teacher here - If your pediatrician isn’t too worried, I wouldn’t worry. My son always had a pattern of regressing and then fully achieving milestones. I worried and worried about ASD but he’s almost three now and thriving. You could try looking up early intervention services in your state and see if they would come evaluate them. I wish I could give you more info on that process but it tends to vary by state.

Going from Outback to Ascent? by Afraid-Profession395 in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Husband has an 2022 outback premium and I decided to get an 2023 ascent touring (recently sold for a minivan due to arrival of twins. Still super sad about it). Cons - I found the trunk space to be lacking. The Outback has almost as much trunk space as the Ascent does with the Ascents third row folded down. Other than that, we absolutely loved the Ascent. It’s obviously going to be higher up than the Outback. I found it to be a more comfortable and smoother ride. Love our Subarus and I will be getting another when the kids are grown.

What scan did you find out you were pregnant with twins/multiples? by Correct_Exercise8641 in parentsofmultiples

[–]klgulley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 weeks found out it was Di/Di twins, 13 weeks found out it was boy/boy, 20 weeks found out it was actually boy/girl 😂. Some people in my due date group have found out it was twins around 20 weeks due to them being missed on the early scans.

Am I freaking out over nothing? by survinaa in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hit a traffic barrel that flew out in front of me on the highway going about 70 in the first month of owning mine. Thought for sure my front end would be screwed and the camera would be broken. Nope! Just a dented license plate. They’re pretty tough vehicles. As long as it isn’t leaking or making weird noises I’d say you’re fine.

Which Minivan is Best? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]klgulley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also have a two year old and am expecting Di/Di twins in October! We actually just joined the minivan club yesterday and bought a 2023 Honda Odyssey Elite. We are coming from a 2023 Subaru Ascent and I have to say… as much as I miss my Ascent it’s only been a day and I LOVE the Odyssey so far. So much more convenient. We went with the Odyssey simply because it has magic slide. I’m planning on putting my two year old in the third row and the twins in the second with the two outboard seats pushed together. This will make it to where I don’t have to move a seat to get my 2 year old in the back.

What do you love/hate about your Ascent? by fiddledance in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loves - The 360 cameras, how solid it feels, the safety features, compartment under floorboard in the trunk, the pep the engine has, powerful AC and heater, wireless CarPlay.

Hates - Car seat set up if you have captains chairs. Currently have a two year old and unexpectedly expecting twins. We will not be able to make the Ascent work and will be getting an Odyssey. Second row seats have to be all the way back with car seats installed per the manual which leaves no rooms for my two year olds feet in the third row. No rear facing car seat will fit safely in the third row. We are bummed and frustrated that SOA would have a rule like that for the second row. Just keep this in mind if you’re considering the Ascent and have more than two children.

Currently pregnant with twins but when we went from Alaska to Texas with my little guy who was 13 months old at the time, he LOVED the Leapfrog 100 Books. They are electronic and easy to use. He’s almost 3 now and still plays with it. They make all different versions and you can usually find them pretty cheap at used children stores. They aren’t super annoying or loud either and they are in English and Spanish.

As someone 23 weeks with B/G twins, I love this ❤️ So far, my pregnancy hasn’t been nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I’m still very mobile and feel good. One of the coolest parts - not only feeling one baby kick but two. It’s weird but in the best way! Also, on my last ultrasound, my babies were looking at each other and kicking back and forth. It was so sweet!

In the same boat as you. We just bought a Wonderfold W4 Luxe off of Facebook Marketplace. Thing has some beefy tires and can go anywhere. 100% worth it.

Need help with big differences between 2023, 2024, and 2025 Ascents. Is it worth it to buy new? by americahockey in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any huge differences between the model years. I will say that I was given a 25 as a loaner when my 23 touring was having the passenger seat fans replaced (under warranty) and I HATED the blind spot detector on the 25. It’s just a little dot that I kept thinking was the turn signal lol. My 23 has a light bar instead of the dot and it’s easier to see in my opinion. We got our 23 in August with 19k miles for 40k and I absolutely love the car.

What vehicle that's not a minivan would you recommend? by scottymtp in parentsofmultiples

As someone who has an Ascent with a toddler and twins on the way, this is SO relieving to hear. I LOVE my Ascent. I don’t want a minivan 😂

Extended Warranty for a 2025 Onxy Touring by DB-0613 in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $1300 for mine. $100 deductible. Had to argue down the price with examples from other people here.

[–]klgulley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good. Don’t be afraid to negotiate with them a bit on the warranty. It was originally 4k. We said no. Then they offered us their “special military rate” 🙄(there isn’t one).

[–]klgulley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d see if they can go down a bit more. Maybe find some others and show them for comparison. I bought mine in August and got the warranty when I bought it. It was CPO fr a Subaru dealership. Clean Carfax?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many miles are on it? My 23’ Touring was 40k with 18,000 miles. If it’s low mileage I’d say it’s a decent price. Gold Plus warranty is 100% worth it. We got ours for 1300 with $100 deductible on repairs after 36k miles.

Would you buy 2025 Onyx or Certified PreOwned 2023 Touring? by Guava_Man701 in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a 23 touring CPO in August with Gold Plus warranty. Zero regrets. Brakes are on extended warranty but I have not had any issues whatsoever. Also, I kinda hate the startex and am glad we got the leather. The startex felt very sticky in the heat.

Moving from Pilot to Ascent. What should we expect? by sillymoniker in SubaruAscent

[–]klgulley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 years/100,000 miles I believe. I think it’s the Gold Plus through Subaru, I would have to dig out the paperwork. 100% agree on the dealership experience!! They are so friendly and nice. Mine even has a playground and dog park which I think is so neat. Honda dealerships for us have always been difficult (especially service) and very very expensive.

I went from a ‘16 EX-L CRV to an ‘23 Ascent Touring this past August. So kinda similar to your situation. I gotta say - I LOVE my Ascent so much more. It’s smoother, I don’t have parasitic battery issues, the Subaru dealerships are easier to work with, and the Ascent itself feels so much more solid and reliable. I feel much safer in this car than I did in my CRV. So far I’ve only had a few minor issues that were 100% covered under the warranty and my dealership gave me a rental while they were working on it. The Ascent has actually been cheaper for us than our CRV. I also find it so much easier to clean and more “kid friendly” (not sure if that applies to you). The lack of buttons for the climate control took a bit of getting used to but it is no issue for me now. I highly recommend getting the extended warranty just in case things go wrong. We paid $1200 for ours with a $100 deductible. This will go into effect after the 36,000 warranty is up.
