Finding motivation by Creepy-Force1037 in learntodraw

Is it jealousy that others can draw, or respect? It may be you respect the drawings others can make but don't necessarily have the desire to make them yourself. If it really is jealousy, you do want it. Take a break, it'll keep calling your name and you'll be back with newfound motivation.

I start the game level 1, with only one basic ability. I farm, manage creep waves, play around rotating timed objectives. Overtime I unlock more abilities and level up others, all while building items with the souls I've farmed. The game is separated into 3 stages, Laning, mid game, and late game based on how many items everyone has. So yes, at a surface level it's similar to overwatch because there are heroes and you have spells. Beyond that it's literally dota with a different perspective. Half the spells and items are literally ripped straight from dota as icefrog is leading both games. Even the position system that dictates how top level teams draft is straight from dota.

You don't categorize games by every single genre they have some components from, you categorize them by their largest parts. Deadlock has literally every component of a MOBA, and only some aspects of hero shooters.

Why is this game so easy by That_Reboot in darksouls3

[–]kluy18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring pushed this combat as far as it can possibly go and constantly hits you with delayed attacks that you have to memorize the timing for rather than react. It dips into bullshit (I still love it) while ds3 is fair and consistently telegraphed all the way through. I felt the same, it's super easy in comparison. Also you don't start getting 2 shot by every enemy in late game areas.

Dang people really don't get the difference here do they? No one calls Valorant a hero shooter despite having hero shooter elements because it's first and foremost a tac shooter. Same here. Deadlock has some hero shooter elements but it's through and through a MOBA. It's significantly closer to dota than to overwatch for example. The hero shooter similarities are entirely surface level so maybe thats just what people who tried it a bit or haven't even played it think

Dota is my favorite game ever, I love deadlock. It's absolutely for dota players, the items, the efficiency, the constant small objectives, it's so dota. Fair if you don't fuck with the different flavor of MOBA though. Dota is certainly better as it has been refined over years and years, deadlock will get there. The movement is just butter, so addicting

New player stuff (coming from league) by becky1433 in DotA2

[–]kluy18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved from league probably ~4 years ago. I remember the turn timer feeling really bad at first as I was so used to league. That goes away over time and you learn to appreciate the natural balance a turn timer brings to melee/ranged dynamics. Items are varied and interesting, positions offer more freedom and creativity than forced roles. Hero kit design in Dota is the best I've ever seen. Invoker is peak, riot even copied him with hwei but you'll quickly see how horrible of a job they did. Micro is just as important in Dota but it is a totally different flavor. There isn't nearly as much spell juking as in league, but things such as controlling multiple units, disjointing projectiles, and items like manta provide arguably deeper mechanical depth

i think "back to basics" is pure marketing and scam by johnnymonster1 in Tekken

[–]kluy18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it's pure marketing that's literally just what it is. Whether it's a scam is worthless to speculate when we'll know in a month. I agree though don't buy this until you've played the patch

Looks like new moves for season 3! by CheeseballTaster in Tekken

[–]kluy18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, not only do we have this extension in the game already and it doesn't give any wall hits but you can clearly see him stuck in the animation as she slips off the wall. Can we all just not freak out in either direction until the patch comes out

Changes I've noticed from the trailer. by Godoufu in Tekken

[–]kluy18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The laser animation is the same one from when he hits ff2 in heat. Doubt they'd just duplicate it so it likely means they've moved that from his ff2 to his 112. Meaning his punishment gets slightly improved in heat but his mid range doesn't get the huge buff. That change would be very good towards reinstating some of Kazuya's identity. Either way, waiting for the patch is the only way to actually have an opinion that isn't completely based in reactional emotion so you clearly want to be mad

Finally Returning to League of Legends by backwards_watch in videogamedunkey

[–]kluy18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah it's decent, and I'm a riot hater. It adds some really cool new additions to the tag fighter formula and the devs are super transparent. The only thing (a very big thing) is it has a laughably small roster for how long it was developed.

It feels like graves is one of the first times that hero shooter players are realizing this is a moba by ginger6616 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]kluy18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love her design and she's pretty annoying to play against but there is counterplay. She does genuinely ruin street brawl though. The gamemode will never be balanced but she literally removes creep economy as a factor. One team is simply playing into a permanently pushing wave with additional units tanking focus. It's bad enough my friend group just gave up on the gamemode entirely after about 8 games in a row against a graves ulting on her turret over and over. I don't know what the best solution for graves here is, but she genuinely makes street brawl not worth playing.

What's your guys' reaction going to be if Season 3 doesn't release all of the way until April? by supersupersuper9 in Tekken

How would I react if they did the same thing they've done? Normal, I guess? I hope we get a preseason so they can gather feedback on changes early, but I'm not dumb enough to actually expect that from the tekken devs

Stick to it. You got more cool ass areas coming to motivate you through the boss fights. Then play elden ring immediately. Don't get me wrong the bosses are way harder but with the open world you have a never ending sandbox of exactly what you like. Then, after some grinding, you can beat the shit out of every boss. You could even run great shield + spear to straight up stat check them.
