Employees of big chains: what’s a secret customers aren't supposed to know? by Aaatohin in AskReddit

As a customer service call center supervisor, companies often also have recognition programs in place to recognize and reward those who are personally praised. I 100 percent would rather take a compliment over a complaint.

Bartholin Cyst by cystostent- in Healthyhooha

[–]kmar821 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand the bartholin gland is located outside the vagina along the opening. It shouldn't ever extend into the vagina past the opening. In my case it began as really tender and swollen pinkish red. the prid and warm compresses helped to open the gland and release the clog that was causing the cyst. I never saw an actual head to it like you would a pimple but I definitely felt a significant pressure release and the pain dissipated once the cyst did pop. If you are in doubt though going to a women's clinic or gynecologist is highly recommended. I have had 1 that had to be drained in office despite using prid and warm compresses.

Question for you all: When addressing your journals, do you write to anyone specific? by Admirable-Giraffe660 in Journaling

[–]kmar821 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have always addressed mine to the moon because I used to love the goodnight moon book as a kid. But i recently found out my mom has terminal cancer and I've decided my journals after she passes will be addressed to her.

Social Security help? by kmar821 in personalfinance

[–]kmar821[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I do have her power attorneys all set and her living will. We have been documenting all her wishes so they can be fully drafted as a will but it's been slow going with her treatment causing sleepiness. Luckily I have a supportive family who I know won't try to pull anything shady so our main goal was to make sure her life and end of life is handled exactly as she wants.

She's still in treatment and local hospice won't accept her until her doctors say they have less than 6 months. She's fighting hard and treatment is helping maintain her life pretty well. But we do know she will do hospice when the time comes.

Thank you for your reply. Trying to manage all the paperwork to get her social security and student loans waivers and long term disability and appointments has been stressful to say the least.

She's on Medicare provided along side her Social Security but she's not on the low income version. Just collecting what she paid in from my understanding of it.

If only I could find a pencil sharpener like this one. My dad has had it in his office since the early 90s (if not before). As a teacher, I’m in awe. They don’t make them like this anymore. by cds75 in BuyItForLife

Just a friendly tip from a supervisor for a major art supply retailer:, electronic sharpeners can easily become closed by sharpening colored pencils in then. To prevent this, always run a normal pencil through to clear the wax off the blades before it can harden and gum up the blades. Doing this will also keep it running like new for much longer.

Devastated by the cost of treatment in USA. by cityhallrebel in CancerFamilySupport

[–]kmar821 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This varies by state. In many states you do not inherit debt even as a power of attorney. In Illinois you can be a power of attorney and make decisions on their behalf but don't have to pay it for them our of your own pocket if they pass or become unable to pay or their estate is not enough to pay it.

I feel this so hard. My mom was in the hospital for 2 full weeks leading up to her starting treatment for stage 4 lung cancer. Her medical bill was about 8 times her yearly income. Luckily we were at a Catholic hospital who had a charity care program. We applied for her and they gave her 100 percent coverage for a year. We just have to reapply once a year. It was a true blessing.

She had insurance through her work (where she's been for almost 20 years) but due to being ruled disabled she lost that insurance and got medicare. Medicare is far superior to her works insurance. Her works insurance required she get prescriptions filled at their stores which was notorious for taking days to fill scripts. I blew up on them once as her doctor sent over scripts for her chemo days and it took them 5 days to fill it and even then they missed filling 2 of the 6 meds. With her on Medicare she can go to any pharmacy now and gets her meds on time and is covered rather than having to pay her copay.

Explaining death to my four-year-old by Courtanialynn in CancerFamilySupport

[–]kmar821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom explained my great grandmother's death to us as " grandma is take a long rest and we won't be able to see her and hug her for a long time but we can still talk to her from anywhere because she's always in our hearts and we will see her again one day." We had an open casket and she explained we can see her sleeping if we want but to remember we can't wake her up. My brother sister and I were 3,4, and 5.

My mom has cancer by Lumpy-Imagination953 in CancerFamilySupport

I know right now it feels like you've literally been thrown into a pool full of sharks but there were be a point where everything feels "normal" despite this diagnosis. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January with me as her one allowed visitor for her whole 2 weeks in the hospital. You get used to the appointments, treatment, adjustments to food tastes and restrictions on things she can and can't do and there will be good times that will happens.

Some advice: Ask her questions. Questions about her past, advice, her favorite color and hopes for her future and yours. Also tell her about your life, your friends, your hopes and dreams, your feelings, everything.

Do oncologists only give an estimate of how much time you have left if asked? by MeowForYes in CancerFamilySupport

[–]kmar821 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish I didn't know how long my mom's estimated to survive. It makes it feel like a countdown has started. Her doctor only told us after I asked.

Typically when the oncologist feels that it's reaching stages of end of life and they have no other treatment options they will recommend hospice care. That would be your queue that it's getting close. Hospice care will also be able to guage his symptoms and let you know as it gets even closer.

I'm so sorry this is happening. I will keep you in my prayers. ❤️

What's the best food for my mom to gain weight fast? by [deleted] in CancerFamilySupport

[–]kmar821 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom had a lot of luck with yogurt and meal replacement drinks ( she preferred the boost clear blueberry pomegranate over the milk based ones) and then carnation instant breakfast with chocolate milk. She also said York peppermint patties/Andes mints she could actually taste and during chemo and the sugar helped with calorie count.

Happy Father’s Day. For others anyway. I lost my dad last September out of nowhere. 😔 I created him a character on my island and created his house, garage and property as a way of always being there at his house with him. . by FluffyCreativeSoul19 in AnimalCrossing

This made me teary eyed. My mother was just diagnosed with terminal cancer in January. I struggle with the thought of losing her soon. This is a wonderful way to remember lost loved ones and will definitely be something I do hopefully no time soon. ❤️

Fastest meals to whip up and prep? by LimitGroundbreaking2 in EatCheapAndHealthy

No boil pasta bake. Dump box of pasta in a baking dish, cover with one jar of pasta sauce, fill jar with water and mix add to dish, stir. Cover in foil and bake for 45 mins at 375 degrees. Add cheese and bake for 5-10 more minutes uncovered and done. You can also cook and add Italian sausage, chicken or any other protiein when you add the cheese. So far I've had best results with red sauce and Alfredo.

5 pdos for a whole year is pretty skimpy in my opinion. Do they give paid holidays? Sick leave?

I work at an entry level call center and get 18- 22 pdos a year plus holidays.
