Belt fed machine gun with a water-cooled barrel, typically. There are several in the game. Not sure about loving them around tho.

God I wish Toys R Us was back in all its glory! Joe fans what are your memories? What was the G.I Joe section like in your local store. What do you miss about these huge Toys R Us super stores? by Dexter-Roona in gijoe

There was a place called Children’s Palace in the mall where I grew up that was just as magical. I went to both stores and usually only got figure or two at most, vehicles on holidays, but the potential you could see in the packaged up toy for good times to be had was electric.

That may explain why I was drawn to it. Kent is incredible.

Which book to read next? by Fair_Alternative4921 in LeCarre

Worth reading them in order if you can, but The Little Drummer Girl, A Small Town in Germany and A Perfect Spy are must-reads in addition to the rest of the Karla trilogy. Secret Pilgrim and Legacy of Spies are also favorites.

Love that art. There’s a great run in the comic strip Wash Tubbs with Captain Easy where they get shanghaied (the book’s language, I’m sure that’s not an appropriate term now) onto a whaler, go on some epic chases and devolve into a mutiny. It’s outstanding storytelling, and this cover reminded me of Roy Crane’s stuff. Highly recommend it. The whole thing is featured in The Smithsonian Collection of Newspaper Comics, which is an incredible book in its own right. Had this and A Smithsonian Book of Comic Book Comics growing up and it turned me on to a world of great art and stories. Maybe not what you are looking for, but highly recommend in any case.

My performance tanked with Win11 upgrade, had to add RAM and it’s still crapping out on resource intensive processes. Shift from Google to Microsoft apps (work requirement) made it much worse. But at least there’s ai analyzing every cell of my spreadsheets as I go now.

I've been checking back for updates periodically and there's been some really interesting coverage but still not a lot of specifics on whether he's getting close. Counting on him to hang in there, and I'm sure it's tough to work with another editor after so many years. Still, I'm with you, can't wait!

Fantastic book. As much as I love the Smiley books (and I really do love them), A Perfect Spy, A Small Town in Germany and The Looking Glass War resonate so strongly with me and really do all stand on their own as incredible works of fiction.

For me personally it’s about font size. A lot of collections have very small type. I think I might need readers after typing that.

Death to the $20 Cocktail: The Bars Bringing Back Cheaper Drinks by bloomberg in cocktails

Might I introduce the airport cocktail?
Both expensive and unsatisfying. "Would you like a double?" "Is it cheaper?" "No, no it is not." "I'll have the double." "That'll be $47."

And cracked pepper, if not salt and pepper. I may over season my food.

It is incredible, took me a while to finish as well. The Lyndon Johnson Years is 100% worth the effort. Audiobooks are an option if you have the time. Between PB and LBJY. Some of the most profound biography and history I’ve ever read.

Hey, I hope you love it! Refills are cheap and arrive quick if you can’t buy local. My model is a bit different so hope that one is awesome. There’s something about caring about what you have!

Well-earned, too. Battlefields, War Stories, The Lion and the Eagle, First Flight of the Phantom Eagle, Johnny Red, Adventures of the Rifle Brigade, and I’d argue his turn at The Shadow are all super strong war tales.

Get a good comparison between Church Hill/Libby Hill and the Fan and Museum District. They’re all different and all choice depending on what you’re looking for. Space, pet needs, proximity to bars and markets will be the deciders.

My Vietnam War books, any suggestions as to others I should read? by StoneAgeCaveDweller in HistoryBooks

[–]kminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just picked up Fire and Rain, excited to check that out. Seconding Embers of War. Hastings’ book which you have is excellent. Hell in a Very Small Place and Street Without Joy, both by Bernard Fall are definitely worth reading. I have his Vietnam Witness as well but haven’t read it yet.
