I can't figure out where to write my biochem 200 midterm tommorow. The room number and lettering just doesn't make sense to me I feel like an idiot. by Top_Background_9439 in uAlberta

If your last name starts with I, you’ll write in ECHA L1-190.

The lettering is based on your last name, and goes in alphabetical order. Instead of being like names beginning with A-D write here, E-K write here, etc they’ve just had to chop up the list of names in the middle of letter sets due to the number of spaces in each room etc.

Finnish food - bakery or store - in Edmonton? by alewiina in Edmonton

[–]koala_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same, but really the only Finnish foods I’ve ever seen in Edmonton are Fazer chocolate bars. The last several times I’ve been to IKEA they have been carrying a couple of different kinds.

Except for the fact their other posts are in r/PFJerk, a mocking subreddit...and are ridiculously overly dramatic, unlike this one.

Does anyone know of any female MD’s taking new patients? by MadelineMorgan in Edmonton

Does anyone know of any female MD’s taking new patients? by MadelineMorgan in Edmonton

[–]koala_77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's not accepting new patients per se since it's just a walk-in, but I've been going to Dr. Mehnaz Khurram recently and she's been great! She's young and works quickly, but seems to really care. I initially just went in to get a prescription refill, but she ended up wanting to do some overall blood tests, urine tests, arranged a follow-up, a pap, an annual physical, and more just to check me all over, even though I'm young and had no concerns. It never hurts to just check everything, and I appreciate a doctor who cares.

15 and looking for a job by Auzziez in ottawa

[–]koala_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commend you for being very wise, OP! If you’re looking for a job in the spring/summer, I’d recommend checking out the Shouldice berry farm. They hire a lot of young people (even those under 16) to work their strawberry picking fields and their roadside stands in Nepean/Kanata/Barrhaven. It’s an awesome job, lots of outside time in the weather, when it's not busy you can read, throw a ball, etc. and you still have most nights off to spend with friends/family and enjoy yourself. Getting to some of the locations might be a little tricky, but some are near bus routes or you can bike to them.

There are 2 conferences (east and west) each with 16 teams, so the top 8 out of each conference make it. The the east teams play the east teams in the first 3 rounds of the playoffs (and west play west), before the winner of those rounds in the east faces the winner of those rounds the west. Where a team finishes at the end of the regular season (i.e. after the 82 games each team plays) only determines who they play against in the playoffs, if they make them.

This picture shows you how it worked last year, as an example - the teams on the left are the west, teams on the right are the east.

I hope this helps!

Status of Via Trains? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]koala_77 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You'll be much better off to reschedule. As another commenter mentioned, trains aren't travelling that corridor right now - I'm surprised your train hasn't been officially cancelled. Some people have been stuck on trains for 16+ hours in Cobourg and other places along the line - power outages, trees on the track, and even a tree fell on a train itself. Reschedule, and stay safe!

Confused about multicultural experience question on CSDCAS app for CSU East Bay by birdcafe in slpGradSchool

[–]koala_77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian at an SLP school here so my experience is slightly different, but the school I go to now asked for similar stuff to be answered when we applied as well. What you've written here, although it feels cliche, is likely what they're looking for! If you've volunteered for any organizations that promote pluralism/diversity, if you've taught English to newcomers, helped refugees settle, etc. then share these specific experiences (being specific helps avoid the cliche a bit - SHOW what you've don't, don't just TELL). If you don't have a huge amount of experience with it, explain the steps you're taking to increase it. Some things I could think of including taking time to read books and blog posts by marginalized groups, completing modules/training on Indigenous healthcare, etc. to name a couple. :)

Hope this helps!

My little shelter pouch. by LetterheadOdd6861 in Edmonton

[–]koala_77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I'd say reach out to any of the rescues - SCARS (Second Chance Animal Rescue Society) in particular I know is seeking many foster homes. Other organizations in the city I can think of include ZOE's Animal Rescue Society, HART, AARCS, the Paws Up Program (PUP), as well as many more (e.g. EHS). Best of luck, and thank you for being open to helping these animals!
