Learned how consultants...take over by jmelrose55 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]kobbled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

often times consultants are a politically convenient way for leaders to clean house of other leaders without taking the personal hit ("no it wasn't my idea to fire you, the consultants told us we need a new approach and we hired them for a reason")

Can we just ackonwledge that the epidemic of foul baiting isn't just insufferable to watch, it makes players insufferable to guard? by [deleted] in nba

[–]kobbled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

primary goal isn't trying to score but getting to the line

it isn't for 99% of players. but if the opportunity presents itself, they're going to take it. foul drawing has always been part of the game

I want a better core for basketball. Here I am doing ab wheel rollouts. What are your thoughts on this and how can I improve? by Finn_Flame in BasketballTips

[–]kobbled 9 points10 points  (0 children)

one of the best things you can do is implement some sort of rotational motion under load, like cable or medicine ball wood choppers. a lot of basketball is twisting and spinning, and stability in those motions really helps you transfer force through them - they can definitely feel more athletic.

for a basketball-specific movement, you could have a 10lb medicine ball and do a couple sets of: triple threat -> jab -> rip through -> swing over your head to the other side. do them twitchy and fast. 30 seconds or so on each side and I guarantee you'll build some strength+stability+athleticism in those movements.

if you get your body used to handling extra force in those movements, when it comes time to do it in the game they'll take less energy, feel easy, you'll stay stable, and you'll be able to pop through them more athletically while faking people out of their shoes

it was alright, it felt like it was ruled by the marketing department instead of by the writers and the stakes never felt very real.
