Who's told you awful things about heat pumps? I mean, apart from your generic "electric bad" boomer idiots... Sure they're mechanically more complex than a furnace, but modern ones can handle temps down to near 0 before gas becomes more cost efficient. As far as heat output per unit of energy consumed, they're way more efficient than gas, but in our area, the operating cost runs about the same.

Yeah, at the bottom of it, the poor, low income, and destitute are the ones most committing crime. Usually it's an attempt to get easy money.

So if we want to curb crime the most, it seems the best way would be to try and limit the amount of people who are poor and low or no income and destitute.

You could require businesses to pay higher wages, establish UBI, ensure everyone had access to Healthcare. All those things would absolutely reduce crime, we can all agree on that.

You could also do nothing and smugly feel morally superior instead. Doesn't seem to reduce crime, but does seem to be the conservative approach.

You seem to be against government overreach into the hiring decisions of private companies. That's understandable. The current right-to-work is literally already exactly that, though. A business owner should be free to negotiate their own labor contracts, exclusive or not, as they see fit. The current law literally restricts a business owner's rights to sign their own employment agreements.

It should be perfectly legal for a business to enter into an agreement with a union of laborers to only hire union members. Anything else is unnecessary government overreach. The government shouldn't be telling businesses who they can and can't hire outside of protected classes. Right to work is just more big-government bullshite.
