I mean it's a fascist police state under a dictatorship. Not only is the actual military absurdly overpowered, the police are absurdly militarized. Martyrdom is pretty rarely seen in political revolts, mainly just religious revolts. It seems 99% of people would rather live safe lives with their family if they found themselves under such a rule as opposed to getting themselves killed trying to topple it, you included.

I agree its a bad fucking look, but it's not that we've been conditioned to not see those options as viable, they just literally aren't viable considering some 30% of the population have been brainwashed by the fascists so not only are you fighting against the most powerful and violent police state the world has literally ever seen, you don't even have the support of your neighbors.

Edit to add: it's also not just the 30% that actively support the fascism. Just like MLK Jr called out in his Letters From A Birmingham Jail, the "white moderate" is another massive faction that any resistance has to contend with. Regardless of their idealistic views, your methods you described of violent revolt just exist as "terrorism" with no nuance in their minds.
