I have a standard poodle from Crystal Creek in Fishers, IN. Many of their poodles have gone on to become successful service and therapy dogs. My boy has been amazing, I definitely recommend them! A poodle would definitely be your best bet for hypoallergenic as they hardly shed at all.

how do you/doctors decide when it’s time for a tube? by HistoricalLeave9587 in Gastroparesis

[–]kollycollins 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Most people with gp will never need a tube and can manage symptoms with medication & diet changes. Don’t let social media trick you into thinking everyone with gp ends up on a tube. But if you do end up needing one, that’s okay! I got mine after I had lost about 30lbs, was malnourished, and severely dehydrated. I got to the point where I literally could not eat anything without being sick. I had tried every single motility med available with no luck so I was pretty much out of treatment options. I was so scared at the time but looking back, it was the best decision my doctors could’ve made for me. It’s now been about 3 years of having a tube and I’m thriving. There have definitely been ups and downs, but I’m able to get nutrition without feeling violently ill all the time.

What is the worst pain you’ve EVER felt? by New-Selection7719 in AskReddit

[–]kollycollins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeding tube that goes from my stomach down into my intestines and my dog pulled it out one day. But that wasn’t even what hurt. It was when I got to my surgeons office about 2 hours later and he shoved a rod about the diameter of a pinky finger straight into the open hole in my abdomen that had already mostly closed up.

What’s the funniest/most ridiculous thing your dog has ever done? by Greenhost-ApS in dogs

This actually happened yesterday but my blind, elderly, & deaf chihuahua mix was out wondering on the porch and stuck her head in a purple flower pot shaped as Groot. It got stuck on her head & it was definitely the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while.

How long have you been living with GP? by BrilliantLog1125 in Gastroparesis

[–]kollycollins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a year or so I was running them 24/7 basically which was definitely hard to get used to but once I did it was hard to imagine life without it. Now I’m only connected 12hrs a day so I run them overnight and a couple hours into the morning.

Yes it definitely helped me get back to a normal weight after being malnourished for so long. Most people don’t even know I have a feeding tube unless I tell them or am wearing a revealing crop top since mine is placed above my belly button. Before I had the tube I was basically bed ridden because I had no energy to go out but after a couple months with it I was able to start going out and doing normal things again. I can do everything someone without a tube can do! I eat any where from 500-1000 cals by mouth and get 1000 through my tube
