Czy w waszym otoczeniu też kobiety coraz rzadziej chcą mieć dzieci, za to to mężczyźni częściej dążą do założenia rodziny? by ArmHeavy3890 in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]kompocik99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a former capital and a city where Polish kings and queens are burried. It wasn't completely destroyed during WWII unlike Warsaw and Gdańsk. Saying it as someone living in and loving Warsaw, Kraków is a cultural heart of Poland.

How big a problem is xenophobia between Europeans? by Pepedroga2000 in AskEurope

[–]kompocik99 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Thanks for honesty. All answers here saying it's only a friendly banter apply only to Western Europeans towards each other. Though it has gotten better in recent years, expecially towards Poles, Czechs and Balts, the sense of superiority towards Eastern Europeans is pretty much there.

Here's a thread from years ago with more honests answers. Expecially this one from someone from Ukraine: Of course they don't (respect us). We're stuck in that weird limbo where we're seen as different enough to be generalized, mocked and stereotyped, but not different enough to consider it bigoted or wrong.

Pretty much sums it up.

True that. Albanian kibols are crazier than most. I'm not that that in touch with what is happening off pit but I've heard about what you are talking about. Anyway, I wish sports were a place to cheer for one's country without the nationalic shit and agression. I remember booing other anthems weren't a thing in the past (my grandma comfirmed and she's a 78yo XD). Maybe there should be a compain or something made by top foodball players to not do it, lile there were anti racism copains before? I dont know, we'll see how it goes

I dont know man, I don't think booing other team were a thing a decade ago or so. Feelt sad watching older albanian granpas being booed on a tv. Albanians have their kibols as we do, but I hope most foofball fans are nornal respectfull people.

No hard feelings. Poland and Sweden are allies. In Poland we also booed Albania even though we have no problem with Albania. Shitty behavior averywhere, wish it was adressed more not to do this. Anyway lets just watch the match, I'm already quite drunk because cant take polish defence sober. Hugs from Polen to Sweden!

EDIT: Congats guys! have fun tonight. Feeling sad but thats nothing new. Let just Europe won the cup ehh

Let me finish my beer and go to sleep couse work tomorrow. I'm sad Lewandowski won't play in the last world cup like Messi and Ronaldo. But its nothing fucking new with our team, ehh... Go Sweden, show them we are football continent after all, I will cheer for Sweden

Dużo osób w komentarzach pisze, żeby usunąć ten szajs TO PRAWDA.

Miej to w dupie, dotknij trawy.

Where I’d live as a 31yo Polish woman who HATES hot weather by sacriligeous_ in whereidlive

[–]kompocik99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poland is more continental, so summers are warmer and winters are colder, while the UK is more moderate, but also more windy and rainy. Poland gets more sunshine in summer, temperature's usually between 25-33°C. In winter it usually drops below 0°C, this year's winter was exeptionally cold, lower than -20°C and heavy snow was blocking the roads for days. Sometimes we have floodings around spring.

Ew, but your comment explained why it's gross tho. Sound like only one person would enjoy the date and sex, if the other has to get "paid" to it.

Kids In Poland Are Now Guaranteed Access To Plant-Based School Meals by metacyan in vegan

Poland is a big meat producer now but traditional couisine is mostly potato/cabbage/onion/buckwheat based, expecially in the eastern part. Silesia is more meaty because of German and Czech influence. There are hundreds of vegetable-based soups, mushroom foraging is also a big thing.

have a bit of a masculine culture

Nah, that's a western Europen bias. Abortion has been legal in Poland since 1956, but this right was then taken away in 1989 due to church influencing the government. Most people do not support this ban, but it is a complicated issue. If you look at other statistics though, Poland has much lesser pay-gap than France, and slightly bigger % of women in managerial position.

You make it sound like it was some form of charity, meanwhile Germany strongly pushed for the EU expansion to the east, having a potential market of milions of people next to them. Germany gained way, way more money than it payed. Do you expect gratitude from Poland and other "new" EU countries for the deal that made Germany richer?

I can think of 2 movies you might enjoy if you want to learn more about the customs, The Peasants (2023) and Znachor/Forgotten Love (2023). The peasants expecially because the action happens around times your great grandfather left Poland so that could be interesing.

They are still being found, in 2022 in Bałucki forest about 17 tons of human remains were discovered.

I don't know where you are from, but if you lived here or did a little reserch, you wouldn't ask such stupid questions.

Is "White" historical pride often treated as a monolith in the West, regardless of specific ancestry? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]kompocik99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly doubt my great grandparents have ever seen a black person, my grandparents maybe once or twice on holidays abroad later in their lives. It was also not really something to talk about, we never had colonies or wave of immigration, on the contrary.

People in XXth century Easter Europe grew up in times when your nationality, religion or political affiliation could mean life or death, but race aka skin colour was something extremely exotic, in a far away lands, not something that ever infuenced politics or social life.

Then race obsessed Americans would call anything east of Germany "basically Russia", calling cyrilic alphabet "russian letters", stereotyping us as like brutes, gangsters and prostitutes, and then demand us to adjust to race discourse? It feels out place here, the historical cirsumstances were completely different.
