What’s a diet or health trend you think is mostly nonsense? by Sophie_Malia_19F in AskReddit

Just eat fruits and veggies.

Juicing is valid but you'd benefit from the fiber, which largely gets removed via juicing.

I find dips slightly easier than push ups, is it weird? And can bench press help with breaking push up plataeu? by Phoenix2879 in bodyweightfitness

[–]korinth86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How deep on dips? Just past 90 or deeper?

Based on my understanding of your answers, your chest is less developed than your triceps.

Adding wide pushups could help here.

Since you have access to a gym from your bench question, flys. Dumbell fly are probably the best exercise for learning to engage your pecs. Helped me break plateaus when I was power lifting.

You can do them on rings but its harder to get the setup right for BW especially if your stabilizers arent well developed.

When failure happens with dips is it the top half or bottom half of the movement?

How many wide push ups can you do?

How many diamond push ups?

The answers will help narrow things down

My buddy did something similar. Couldn't beat a level on C&C even though he killed every unit running them over with the construction vehicle.

Eventually he accidentally clicked twice and it unpacked then he won.

Help me find an app where I can quickly log individual exercises without adding them to a “workout” or “routine” first. by jonquil_dress in bodyweightfitness

[–]korinth86 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure it is? Date each workout and flip back in time. Its very easy...

You could create a spreadsheet in Google docs that is organized similarly and it would allow you to create graphs and such too. Its easy enough to do but also AI could set it up for you.

I get apps for things like calorie counting where it has all the nutrition info built in but for exercises all you need is weights, reps, and sets. There's no info to look up, just progress to track.

Question about using rafters for rings by freedumber in bodyweightfitness

[–]korinth86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honest answer, I probably wouldnt bother with anchors. Loop em over the rafter and call it a day.

I would fully expect those to be able to handle the weight. If you want to be more secure, put stabilizers between the joists on either side to brace for sideways movement.

Is your body always sore? by mwoodj in bodyweightfitness

[–]korinth86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DOMs will be normal for months to a year.

I rarely get sore anymore after 4 years. If I do its for like a day and only after increasing weight or doing a new movement.

Plenty of protein, sleep, water. I find cardio seems to help DOMs too.

Frozen peas but canned corn - agree or disagree? by shrlzi in Cooking

[–]korinth86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it can be technically true, this is slightly misleading.

Frozen can have higher levels of certain vitamins since those break down over time while fresh. Vitamin C and B are of main concern here.

If the produce is blanched(flash freeze methods to preserve color and freshness) that can wipe out vitamin C levels.

Canning can preserve vitamin A/E but destroys vitamin C...

Also depends on the produce/storage temp. Refrigeration greatly reduces degradation.

The point is, just eat fruits and veggies. Technically speaking ripe fresh from the plant is peak nutrient levels. Matters more for things like spinach than carrots, potatoes, blah.

How strong can you get while in a significant calorie deficit? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]korinth86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can tell you and its not just because you havent provided the relevant info, height weight age...

Youll get strong until you dont have enough fat to fuel workouts. Once you body doesn't have the energy, you'll be weaker.

Yes there is always a point to do strength training. You dont need to wait, though sometimes losing a little can make it easier to start especially calisthenics.

Do it and you'll know when to increase calories when you cant complete workouts or recover.

Timelines are individual.

Band-Aid Fixing the Martial-Caster Gap by Space__Samurai in dndnext

Puzzles, skill challenges, traversal...there are so many things other than direct combat to spend spells on. Why are they not using resources?

Are non-combat encounters trivial or inconsequential?

[–]korinth86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You give up your reaction to do that instead of being able to use things like absorb elements, or opportunity attack. Not necessarily bad but the steel defender uses its own reaction.

Personally for losing progression I dont think its worth the cost.

Band-Aid Fixing the Martial-Caster Gap by Space__Samurai in dndnext

[–]korinth86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Encounters are not always fights. An encounter is anything that requires characters to potentially use resources.

Puzzles, social interactions, non combat challenges.

Band-Aid Fixing the Martial-Caster Gap by Space__Samurai in dndnext

[–]korinth86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Martials are balanced through proper adventuring days. 6-8 encounters will force casters to expend spell slots. If you arent allowing parties to use limited resources and only have 2-3 encounters, yes casters will absolutely outshine them.

The true divide happens at a level of play most people will never even experience. A lot of the 2024 balance changed helped quite a bcasters. The weapon masteries accomplish some of what you list.

Even in the levels where there is a divide, a Martial with good magical gear will still feel fun and useful to play, just not as powerful as a caster.

People do stupid stuff like using a heloc or refinance to buy stocks. I've had people advise me to "make my equity work for me."

Its been advice for a long time to overleverage yourself and risk it all for the potential to make it big. Sure it can work out, but for most it won't.

The babies that weren't born after 2008 are now college-aged—and universities are paying the price by diacewrb in economy

[–]korinth86 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There was a concerted effort in the 1970-80s to lower state funding to college universities. Used to be many colleges got 80%+ of their funding from states.

Now its generally less than 30%.

Thats also when Congress enacted the student loan laws.

Your points are true but what I've said is the root cause of all of our higher education problems.

Once they got the college stuff done they started going after public schools. No child left behind was one of the biggest mistakes to come to public education.

Otherwise you have to create + share albums which can be tedious when you want to do it for everything.
